Absolutely agree. fecking ridiculous position for that lad to have his leg, not Pogba's fault he thought he was saving a boundary. Plus he got the ball!

Great player, and I just hope Fellaini can fill the gap against City.
I remember my cricket coach back in school would teach us to stop a ball like that, maybe Bellerin likes to play cricket in his spare time?

Is there a stronger player on the ball than him in the league? Rather, anyone who manages to use their body as effectively as him? He comes across as genuinely impossible to tackle in a 50/50. Moussa Dembele of Spurs might be an honourable mention.
Yeah, Dembele immediately comes to mind. Can't think of anyone else though.

We all love United
You know, sometimes i really look forward to United play because of Paul Pogba. We are a quite boring team without him

Such a joy to watch, so glad he's ours

Agree with you. Surprised a few rated him so highly.

Had some lovely moments but was all over the shop defensively. A bit lazy at times, epitomized by how he passed Ramsay on for their goal. He's probably not fully fit yet though.
He is not and will probably never be great defensively. But for the goal, I would blame Young more as he can actually see Ramseys run not Pogba.

Really bad defensive positions all around to be honest.

Surely its blatantly obvious that it was Young's fault? Young is completely free and sees Ramsey make the run. Martial is on Bellerin so he doesnt have to worry about that either. Even if Young was doing the right thing, the defenders are the ones that played the offside trap wrongly.

Loved how he tried to urge the team to keep a higher line when we were under heavy pressure.

Agree Young could have done more. In fact I don't really blame anyone, it was a good run and a good ball. Difficult to defend.

My only point, as you can see in the still you've used, is that Pogba kind of lazily passes Ramsay on with a point of the arm. So he's aware of the run. There's no time for anyone to react to his instruction though, nobody's close enough and Pogba doesn't even check. He should have gone with Ramsay himself. It would have probably still been a goal but it's an example of Pogba being a bit lazy of the defensive front.

Is it a 1 or 3 game match ban? I'm absolutely sick I never get to watch him. Im going to the Bournemouth game and it's my wife's first ever game. She'll be gutted if he's not playing.

3 match ban for serious foul play. Could be even more if they decide to punish him further for applauding as he walked off.
I’ve seen the clapping mentioned a few times. I’d be extremely surprised if he’s punished for that, as he didn’t clap at the ref. He didn’t delay his departure, he walked off the pitch immediately, clapping as he did, but to nobody in particular.

He certainly has the ability. He can do fecking everything, literally plays the role of a deep lying playmaker, an advanced playmaker and a box to box. Three players in one.
He said the same thing

Fecking stupid. Winning by 2 goals with city next and he goes to do that. Should never have gone in for that 50-50. Not in those offensive positions when we are already winning.
I don't see how going for that ball was stupid. he doesn't go for that ball, a ball he had a very good chance of winning, high up the pitch and that could lead to a goal/chance, and chances are people would be questioning him.

Thats called the Tony V offside special. The Tony V right wing special is when he jumps up and down on the spot when there is acres of space in front of him, then passes backwards.

But he does have the freedom to roam 99% of the time. Matic is the one sitting protecting the back 3. Obviously when you're already leading a tight game away form home against rivals, the manager is going to ask you to pay attention to the team shape first and foremost. And he'd be absolutely right to.

I'm not sure what you mean by "giving him less to burden". He's not a striker, he's a CM. He has to have some discipline and awareness to sit when when his midfield partner is out of position and to attack when the break is on and Matic is covering him.
I never said he doesn't get freedom, I'm saying we should encourage more of it by giving him another midfield partner. All the best clubs in the world use 3 midfielders and we should too. It's not about being 'we can afford to have more attacking players at home or we don't need 3 against this lowly team', we need to build a system where we can dominate and control matches better.

I'm not absolving him of all defensive duties, it's just he's not suited in a two where we can get the best of his abilities and progress as a team.

This is more-so Mourinho's fault imo.

We were outnumbered in central midfield. He should have brought on Herrera sooner.

I'm not saying that Pogba is faultless, but Mourinho didn't do him or Matic any favors. They were almost playing 2vs4 in central areas at times.
Agreed,

He's going to be a huge loss for the City match. It's a shame because I thought he had a good game for us. I think the referee just about got the decision right.

Pogba makes our attacking play much more potent. At the same time I've noticed that we've been more shaky in defence than before that. Might have nothing to do with him but with a more adventerous approach by Jose in recent games.

Mkhi can learn from Pogba how and when to release the ball on a counter attack. It's like he doesn't look up to assess his options till he gets to the final 3rd

Fantastic player, but an unbelievable dirty red card on Bellerin. So unnecessary as well.
I guess it won't be City missing key players, but United instead as per Pogba's wish in reverse.

How was it dirty? There's nothing to suggest he stamped on him maliciously, it was just an awkward coming together. Some right powderpuffs on this forum right now.

I was caught late on the top of the foot a few weeks ago by someone trying to close me down and it broke 2 of my toes. I didn't even get a free kick. It wasn't dirty, the guy didn't deserve to get sent off, it was just an accident.

It didn't look like an awkward coming together to me, Pogba in my eyes had time enough to change his foot's course in that collision.

I remember a few posters really trying to make a strong implication (possibly even a direct statement) that we did not miss him when he was out.

We have been transformed since his return, scoring 4 twice and 3 once. He’s either scored or assisted 4 of those two. Needless to say this far surpasses the contribution of the likes of Herrera in his absence.

We'll miss Pogba in the away game against West Brom which we aren't particularly good away from Old Trafford (Arsenal game aside). I feel we can contain City at home and certainly beat Bournemouth at home without him

He will be very fresh for the festive period games if there's some bit of consolation
