He keeps this form up then surely he has to be in the England team ahead of alli in the number ten role behind Kane in the summer?

I asked for him to prove me wrong and go on a run of 5-6 games in which he played well and contributed which he certainly has. Just shows the importance of confidence to players as Lingard is flying now and a problem of his in the past I always felt was that he played within himself and was happy to drift in and out of games.

Long may his good form continue.

His output this season is fantastic.

Fair play to him, he's put together a consistent run of form and he's proving people wrong, myself included.

Great to see.

He's our Dele Alli. With some minor improvements, he could be absolutely devastating in counter attacking football.

Lovely play by him today. His love for Utd and the celebration after his goal with his team mates is special. May this rich vein of form continue. Well done Jesse.

Well who saw this coming this season? It was quite mystifying as a lot of players have been saying he's capable. Scholes was saying it a couple of months ago in the BT studio that Jesse can do everything and the club expects him to become a real player.

He's gone up a level and provided a solution to Mkhitaryan's form when we badly needed it.

Not sure how the media will spin this one with Jose backing an academy product over one of his big money signings.

The thing is, I know it's cool to call the Lingard critics 'haters' but let's not historically revise what was essentially the truth. Until 13 games ago his overall production of goals scored whilst playing in advanced positions for United was underwhelming. Say what you like but the critics had a reasonable argument against Lingard. To simply ignore that is knee-jerk in and of itself based on recent form. With that being said and out of that way, Lingard has now addressed that one underproductive area of his game for United. He has 8 or 9 goals in 13 starts. His detractors weren't wrong at the time they said it, however, they would be wrong if they still thought that his current forum didn't quench the criticism. IF Lingard keeps this up consistently then he truly will have answered critics.

Micky should learn a thing or two, difference in mental strength is striking and makes all the difference. Fair play to Jesse.

Feels unreal that Lingard is doing this week in, week out.

Don't get me wrong, I've always been a fan of him, but I've also had doubts.

He's come on leaps and bounds this season, and I think he can get better.

I agree and I think he has improved his dribbling recently. Very intelligent with his movement on the ball now as well as without it.

I’ve always been a fan in fairness

Amazing what a decent run in the side can do for a player
The criticism he's had in the past is that he hasn't been creative enough or tried to force something in a game to make something happen. Let's see if he can keep this up.

Been our most important player for a while now. Shame some still hold a grudge against him. It's getting to embarrassing levels.

Technically on the ball don't think he'll ever be a david silva but what he does have is excellent movement, link-up play and now he's added finishing too. His dribbing has been pretty good lately too. He really thrives when he has fast technical players like Pogba and Martial next to him to link-up with.

He's stepping up for us big time. Lovely to see an academy product play like this, and perhaps a lesson for those of us who speak of "ceilings". Who could've seen this kind of form coming for Lingard?

I certainly couldn't.

More proof Mourinho doesn’t improve players, eh?

Dunno why managers keep picking Jesse? Must be just because he’s local and came through the ranks.

That celebration would never have happened in the past. Typical flash hip hop stuff from Jesse.

The paragraphs above exemplify the usual s-t written ahout Jesse. Let’s see who notices the white text.

Fair play! He has proved loads of us wrong and I hope he keeps it up. Such a hard working player and it's refreshing to have such a willing runner.

Shaken, and very stirred......
I've always thought he was a great squad player and that we should always keep him. However, he's really taken it a notch up this season. The thing I really love about him is that he always heads for goal....picks his head up and tries to get there...even though obviously there are times it doesn't work out. It's the bloody right attitude which a few of our other more gifted players could take on board. Really really pleased for him, because there is no doubt that he knows and reads what a lot of fans think about him. Hope people realise, even if he has an off game, he's very much worth fighting to keep. Also, what he's done over the last number of games...his scoring record...he deserves a wage that in this day and age, considering what he's contributed is a bit of a bargain!!
