Probably wants trophies actually. :houllier:

Ahh, bluemoon fans are so naive. Thats the last thing on his mind right now. He knows that the team that will offer him the most, probably has the squad and the money to achieve trophies.

So trophies isn’t the last thing on his mind then? If he was just interested in money alone he could have taken a massive contract at Arsenal last summer. Money will always be a factor for players now, but it’s particularly naive to think City aren’t an attractive trophy proposition now for top players, as we sit 15 points clear at the top of the PL, still in 3 cups.

This.

They already been scoring goals, I don’t think Sanchez is a bigger improvement than their attacking trio. I would be more worried if they signed Griezmann or Dybala.
Doesn’t matter who they sign, we are miles behind in quality and can’t see that changing any time soon!

isn't di marzio only reliable with italian teams/players?
He used to be, but he's grown into something more altogether. It seems his connections go so deep in Italy, that if the player is wanted in Italy he'll have the scoop on them.

Di Marzio maintained that Matic was coming to us for a while, and he knew because Juventus were also after him.

According to Di Marizo, you just lost 400k.
How’s Fabinho been in your midfield this season? What does Di Marzio know about anything. He also states a £15M sign-on bonus on Jan or £25M in summer. Sounds like a man who wants to cover a couple of bases.

He was asking for £260,000 per week and Arsenal were refusing. Same with Ozil

If they were genuinely asking that to stay then they’d have got it. £13m a year all in, it’ll cost Arsenal FAR more than that to replace each player with equally talented players factoring in transfer fees plus wages. More likely is that he wants to leave and compete for the top trophies before his legs go in a few years.

Let’s agree to disagree. You think City offer money, and I think they pay well and offer trophies.

There are many reasons he'd prefer City than any other club in England:

-money, let's be honest, no brainer
-trophies, city are easily most poised to not only win this season but the next one as well. They are atleast favorites to.

The other rivals: Chelsea are not that good now despite winning it last year they look on off this season. United, while showing good progress, are still in Top 4 after a few years and still are not the 2013 levels. Spurs and Liverpool are not even in the picture.

This is how I feel as an Arsenal fan. Aside from feeling fecking depressed that we have become nothing more than a selling club to our rivals. Disgrace its come to this.

It is pretty sad...who wouldve thought at the time that the CL final was the peak of Arsenal in the modern era. IMO Wenger under achieved with that team, and definitely should have won more. The fact that he never retained a league title, or won the CL makes it difficult to consider him a truly great manager IMO.

Still won't be near the money he will get at City considering the signing on fee and massive wages. I wouldn't say he is motivated by money alone but this is a good situation to be in for a player.

I think he will improve us so much. Sometimes we only need that one talisman to get us going. Kind of getting Larson, Owen, Smith or the most obvious Cantona. That little spark via a cheeky transfer.

I would play him left, Rashford in the middle, but you can have Lukaku in the middle, Rashford on the right.

Martial will not be with us for a long time. Maybe end of next season. But we trade him for Sanchez.

City. They don't even need him. Doubling down on shameless oil money fuelled success. If we're all supposed to stand and applaud at the end of the season count me out. Congrats on buying everthing in sight

Yup same here. Citys squad is so strong at this point Id forgotten that Bernardo Silva and Gundogen even played for them until the weekend. Crazy.

Mystery how we havent even been linked at any point even by the unreliable sources.

May be that is a positive and we'll sign him out of the blue.

I am actually confused why Sanchez would want to go and play under Pep again when Pep couldn't find the best use of him at Barcelona. If money is not his only consideration, at 29, he should go look for a club where he'll treasured more than to a club where he'll be another player among a bevy of attacking players. Bayern, Juventus, Chelsea and us are surely better options for him than City?

Wenger didn’t under achieve.

Roman came along is what happened. Then City came along which made things worse. Then you had to pay off that fancy stadium which wasn’t cheap. Both Chelsea and City signed a lot of players that Wenger would have signed in the late 90s or early 00s. Players like Hazard and Silva you would expect them to join Arsenal.

It’s gonna take more than a new manager to solve Arsenal’s problems. They need big investment and that’s not going to happen with Kronke.

Wengers issue is unlike Ferguson he couldn’t deal with the likes of Chelsea and City coming in.

It was widely reported that he wanted £400k a week on his next move. City will pay him an insane signing on fee on top of his wages.
That is just what they earn at face value. In the Middle East football players when they win trophies are bombarded with gifts including villas, vintage cars and paintings. Man City is representing Abu Dhabi to the world. You can bet players are told what they would be recieving as gifts for joining and winning.

I dont watch City often (superstition going back to 2012 when I turned on the tv to see them vs Spurs and Balotelli scored last minute penalty) but my point being that its easy to forget how much quality they have because they are literally spoiled for choices.

Kind of like Bayern/Madrid at one point where they have a crazy amount of strength in depth.

No doubt. Di Mazrio is reporting the wages as north of £400k gross, before the substantial signing on onus he will get for running down his contract.

It's pathetic now to be honest they're just far exceeding anything clubs have been accused of in the past. And come May he'll be convincing himself he "won" a title, having spent half the season behaving like a petulant teenager. Suit eachother

Looking for the answers...
I will be a bit gutted if he goes to City tbh - can't help but feel they've had a bit of a clean sweep on attacking talent lately.

How Pep will fit everyone in / keep them happy is going to be difficult as they have an abundance of talent in terms of a "front 6."

Οκ, but I dont think you have a player on less than £100k per week.

Or... both.
I disagree actually. There's very little United can do about City so far having the greatest domestic season in Premier League history and also being absurdly rich. Isn't it only logical some players would want to join such a team? Only a year and a half ago one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe chose us over Real Madrid. That doesn't fit the narrative.

You don't get how it works, even though it is obvious. If a player leaves on a free he gets a bigger signing on bonus as the buying club doesn't have to pay a transfer fee. If Sanchez signs this month he loses some of that fee because City have to pay Arsenal something.

It is why we are not re-signing Fellani, his wage demands are too high taking into account the signing on bonus the Turkish side are going to give him. He wants £170k a week to stay as his effective wage in Turkey will be around that.

Why would Arsenal allow him to leave for only £20m? A champions league place through Europa or the league is surely worth more than that.

I don’t really understand this move. Didn’t he leave Barcelona because he wasn’t getting enough game time under Pep? Surely it’ll be exactly the same at City, I can’t see him playing every single game.

To be honest I think Wenger bears too much of the brunt, the owners are also crooks for allowing certain things to happen.
