We all love United
United have to come out and categorically deny this tomorrow if the name of the club is being used, and perhaps put a warning out there if this ever happen again (though i know this sort of thing is common during transfer negotiations)

I hope this is true. He would be an excellent addition to the team. He would make more sense at United then he would at City.

But yeah, realistically, I'm not getting my hopes up. There has been no real follow up on this either from other Journos or a categorical denial from either Arsenal or United.

I only read the thread title, not the news. If Mkhi is included then yes, we are basically offering >30M more than City, which is what I was getting at.
I think more than the money, Arsenal want to replace Sanchez immediately with someone else. Hence, the rumors of getting Malcom in. But, if we throw in Mhiki into the mix, it would appeal to Arsenal since Mhiki would thrive in the style of football Arsenal play and Wenger can get the best out of him. It's indeed a no brainer for Arsenal.... 20m + Mhiki.... is way too good of a deal even if it's Manchester United. They could use the 20m towards getting Malcom in the summer as well. All depends on Sanchez who will most likely choose Pep and City. The only reason we are after Sanchez is to have another striking option other than Lukaku who can lead the line since Zlatan will most likely leave before the summer ends. The gamble of having Zlatan as backup totally back fired for Ed and Mourinho.

No brainer, do whatever to sign Sanchez. If City gets him game over. Also he's more of a wide forward than a striker...

Title winning team right here with any decent competent manager:

Sanchez - Lukaku - Martial
Pogba - Matic - Herrera
Shaw - Jones - Bailly - Valencia

So being a newbie I’m very limited in what I can do, so, when the dust has settled and he’s signed for City can somebody please create a broken hearted thread. I need to pour my heart out over being teased like this :(

if i was him i won't be coming to united that's for sure, he is 30 this year , going to city means easy EPL medal within 5 month, better chance in UCL , fat paycheck and reunite with baldy pep.

@Damien title is a tad misleading, don’t ya think?

Just asking cuz it won’t do any good really as people will only get carried away when it’s pretty much known Sanchez has no interest in joining us + the “report” is questionable at best (essentially fake news lol)

If we signed Sanchez, Ozil and Mahrez in January.. we'd be there for CL prospects and well set for title push year after

I'd be chuffed to say the least. That would be a trio of: Sanchez Ozil Mahrez behind the striker. World class! Don't think Arsenal will give us Ozil and Alexis in the same window though so we should do everything feasible to get Sanchez even if it means getting rinsed. It'd be absolutely worth our while.

Unfortunately, the only reasons I can think of why Sanchez would choose us over City is that he would definitely get more game time with us, and our rich history (if that means anything to players these days).

Having said that, I refuse to cast any hope on this rumour. :(

Great if we get him but not at all convinced we should be after a left winger when we've got two decent options there already and a big empty void on the right side of the attack. I'd much rather we focus on signing Lucas Moura or someone similar. Unless of course Sanchez is pegged for the number 10 role here with lingard on the right.

He turned 29 less than a month ago. He'll be 30 right at the end of the year.

If you are a top player do you want a title that others have earned or do you want a title that you have a played a big role in? City already have the title in the bag, it won't be because of any special contribution that Sanchez will make in the 4 months with them.

We can offer him the same paycheck, if not more money. We can also offer Arsenal more than City can for a player that they don't have an immediate need for.

Why would reuniting with Pep be such an exciting prospect when he couldn't use him properly the first time around? He can come to us make important contribution for a counter-attacking team that he is tailor made for.

As for the Champions league. Yes, City are one of front runners, but as can we if we sign a midfielder and an attacking players of Sanchez's quality before the close of this window.

He's not coming here, He'll go to City whose press department can then trot out that he chose City over United and that Manchester is blue etc etc. Arsenal then can appease their fans by saying that at least they didn't let him join United.

United will be back in Manchester today, Will hold a press conference for Stoke game we will know more then maybe.

Updated story from Lukhurst-

  • United offered Sanchez by Agents of the player
  • United registered Interest after Deadline day
  • City dont want to pay 25 million + 300k/week, United are ready to do it + signing on bonus.

Perleaseeeee have we not learned anything? Lingard is poor on the right but produces worldies when played in the AM/no 10 role

No, we are competing with City, who have a better team. Need a better starting cb, who can play the ball with his feet, Fullbacks are questionable, No title winning team will have Herrera as the starting Midfielder. Even if and that is a HUGE IF we sign sanchez, we will still need-

  • New right back
  • A Ready number 6/8 to play alongside matic to release the Pog
  • A Young midfielder as Carrick replacement
  • One experienced ball playing defender
  • Ozil for a creative number 10.
  • Bench striker

If we signed Sanchez I'd be happy to trust one of Rashford/Martial as the no2 striker tbh. I actually think Martial has more potential as a striker than Lukaku but that would mean we need to sign a LW

I didn't do the title change (love that @Niall edited it so there's a space before the "|" - no space being my big pet peeve). Will change it though.

I don't think the upcoming press conference for Stoke game will provide any further update.

Mourinho will probably say he got no comments about a player not from his club. My inner muppet hopes he cheekily reveal 'mhki' signing like the first transfer window with us.

If arsenal are going to get around £20m more from us than city will offer then would think they’ll probably accept our offer and not theirs.
Depends how much city really want him as they could easily match any offer we make.
It’ll probably end up that we just drive the price up for city but if we can’t get the player then that’s not a bad corollary effect.

Agree with all of this, but I don't think we need a defender (I am assuming you mean a CB)

Also, we can promote Pereira/McTominay as Carrick's replacement. Having said that we would definitely need a readymade midfielder to play alongside Matic and Pogba. Herrera/Mctominay and Periera can be the midfield backup

In my opinion, we definitely need the following in this window and next:

1. RB
2. Top quality midfielder
3. Ozil
4. Back-up striker
5. Winger

In addition, we might need a LB, if Shaw doesn't come good in next 6 months.

Article in The Times reckon he wants city.
Most of the English journos are of the opinion he prefers City. It is likely that they get their briefing from City, and fair enough, it is also the likelier scenario.

However, our interest is only known to the Italian media possibly due to Sanchez's agent or even Raiola since Mkhi is involved. They even reported that we had been in touch with Sanchez's agents a week ago. If we had not received encouragement, I doubt we would have bid.

90% chance he ends up at City, no doubt. But I don't think we can entirely go by the words of English journos on our position.

Agree, but would also like to add a quality right-winger with pace.

And a possible left back too. Just shows how bad and unbalanced the squad Jose took over. Personally I think Jose has been superb just that Pep has also been superb but started with better players.

It may be a team that can compete a lot better than current, but you ignore the record breaking City team
