I really don't see why City needs Alexis. They have a solid team and they are running away with the title. Why would they be desperate to enter a bidding war with us if we are desperate to get him?
With City, Alexis is in a weaker negotiating position. With United, he's in a stronger negotiating position. It's obvious which option people prefer when trying to earn more money and with Alexis, his issue at Arsenal has always been about better pay.

I think this is what is happening.
Sanchez wants city to close the deal, so do arsenal, United meanwhile are being used. Lets see what mourinho says in his Press conference if he says anything that is.
Yep that's what it sounds like tbf

They can tell Sanchez's agent that they aren't budging, no reason to negotiate through the press, kind of absurd when you think about it. Face saving time if you ask me.

What time is Mourinho's press conference?

I got the feeling he will come out with the Fergie line of "the is no value in the market and we will not be signing anyone"
Nah, he will say either " no story there" or " i don't talk about other clubs players".[/QUOTE]

Sounds like City are trying to save face with 'cash over glory' comments and all their favourite journos saying similar?

I wonder how this is going down right now. Representatives from both clubs, possibly Arsenal too, in a meeting with player/agent?

'Arsene Wenger has been promised a ninety-bazillion-pound treasure chest this summer, for the ninety-bazillionth summer in a row'.
But he won't spend it on moral grounds. He will however continue to take a huge salary from Arsenal while making them a feeder club for others

The press keep saying "We know he wants to play for city"... well how? Because city keep telling them?

It's hiliarious how this keeps happening, they position themselves that it's " play for our manager and great team OR choose the money option"

Like they aren't offering an absolute boat load of cash. If he really wants City then he will choose their great offer and football.

If it happens, I give it 5 mins before Balague pulls out the money tripe.
I cant stand that arse, I dont care what job you do and being a footballer is a job , you want to get paid the most amount of money you can.
He will win stuff at both clubs , there is no doubt about that, getting a shed load of money is the icing on the cake.

All of the press is so far pep's arse they can probably taste the food is chewing.
If city get this deal done, "United are shit negotiators who couldnt convince sanchez to sign, should have gotten him at any price etc."
If united get the deal done,"He moved cause of money, oh pep we love you, where is your arse i need to kiss it".

Not that is means anything but United are now favourites on SkyBet.

City are 2/1 so why not lump on that to make it easier to take when this whole thing goes to sh*t.

Lemmy has forsaken us....
Feels incredibly like the Laporte deal when he signed a new contact and 10 minutes later every single English media outlet ran with an identical article saying "City calm about Laporte, only wanted him as a left back anyway, so there".

love that City are pushing the narrative of big bad moneybags United
I think they are more pushing the narrative of Sanchez being about the money. What were the reported figures for an immediate transfer? €20M signing bonus and €17-18M annual wages, plus €25M transfer fee. That´s €125M for a four year deal and no re-sell value at the end. That´s for a luxury player in the eyes of City. I can understand why they´d walk away.

At the same time I can understand why United goes all-in, especially if they can dump Mkhitaryan onto Arsenal in the process. The same Arsenal that now has the head scout that once brought Mkhitaryan to Dortmund.

This is a possible win (United) - win (Arsenal) - win (Sanchez)- win (Mkhitaryan)- don´t care (City) situation.

Wow things getting real. Now there will be no news next couple of days before we hear he is heading to City?
IMO City will convince him to stay until the summer.

Why is there even one person doubting we should be all in for him?

Best available superstar going for a discount rate. Just turned 29 so you'll at least get 3 decent years out of him. Suprised more teams aren't after him, considering the astronomical value paid to unproven talent. For a mere 25-30 mil you are getting a top 3 EPL player. I'd say it's a coup for whoever signs him. Worth at least 120m in my opinion for the value he will bring.

All this negative stuff about him chasing money and not working hard is silly. He is doing that because he isn't get paid what he believes the should. It's mind boggling how underpaid he is for being a world class wide player. Look at what Neymar, Bale, Griezmann get paid. He's easily on that level so can't blame a guy for wanting what he's worth.

Sign him and we fix our biggest need - a world class wide player. Sanchez on one side Martial on the other, Lukaku and Pogba through the middle. Good luck Europe, I'm sure you will be able to outscore us, it's not like Mourinho is a good defensive coach or anything.

Suppose Di Maria was moving from abroad though - seemed like he just didn't settle in England. Sanchez is already experienced in the league and the only real transition he'd be making is from London to Manchester.
Sounds awful.

All this seems like a very public negotiation to me. City must be pretty sure that United have no real interest for them to threaten to walk away from the deal.

Looking over my shoulder.
No, we are competing with City, who have a better team. Need a better starting cb, who can play the ball with his feet, Fullbacks are questionable, No title winning team will have Herrera as the starting Midfielder. Even if and that is a HUGE IF we sign sanchez, we will still need-

  • New right back
  • A Ready number 6/8 to play alongside matic to release the Pog
  • A Young midfielder as Carrick replacement
  • One experienced ball playing defender
  • Ozil for a creative number 10.
  • Bench striker
Ah, a team of galacticos for you then.
Right back: Valencia was arguably the best rb in the league last season. Still good. Fosu-Mensah is good back-up.
8: Herrera was great last season, been rubbish this season, but he looks to be regaining some form. Then we have McTominag and Pereira for depth. Same goes for Carrick replacement.
CB: we are better stocked than city
10: Lingard is tearing it up and Mata is good. Sanchez can also play there. With the formation suggested, we won’t play with a 10.
Bench striker: Rashford!!!

Surely this is just a little bit of Mourinho mischief? Jose must be bored sitting in that hotel room of an evening and decided to have a little fun.

Now this smokescreen is out he could put in offers for the other 13 players that today's Yahoo feature says that we are "chasing", "interested in", "keen on", "pursuing", "hoping to sign", "monitoring" or "wanting to welcome to O.T." Much as it ever was, I suppose.....
