The last few matches kind of sums up his influence. We are simply set up to be pragmatic and get the best possible outcome. There is nothing much to play for right now and the best outcome which is 2nd place has been achieved so the players don't look that interested.

Looks at us, it feels as it the players are thinking more about the result rather that focussing on playing decent football. Kind of removes the joy of playing this beautiful game. Just hope he is able to get some decent players next season.

For once i dont blame the players. They're human and with nothingnleft to play and nothing much to proove for some of them yes i bet their mind would be on world cup.

Dont we all lose abit of interest during off season near festive?

When redknapp and all abus pundit hates our manager. That's the first indicators that he's doing his job.

You know why nobody slags moyes? They want him to remain at united forever. They dont want jose to stay because he's good
I doubt they give a shit whether he stays or goes. They just think we're boring to watch, and they are right.

Especially since Jose started each of his seasons here saying that he expected us to properly challenge, which he then dialled back after 3 months with his excuses and throwing of players under the bus. Seriously, feck him.
Hilarious isn't it, when the season was about to begin when everyone was talking about his amazing 'second season syndrome' where he usually wins the league and in his press conferences then he was so smug talking about going for the title after getting the 3 of 4 the players he wanted...when that started to look unlikely he started moaning about City spending and trash talking the club and players. Amazingly he has a **** of fanboys who not only lap it up, but come up with gems of excuses of their own. Few pages back someone said that the reason our attack was so crap was because our shit board couldn't get Perisic, who he claimed would have completely revolutionised our attack. In January he was talking about how he doesn't need to add to our attack, now it looks like he's decided that Rash and Martial are shite. Some have concluded that we need to spend about €500m more before we can play decent attacking football against Sevilla and West Ham.

Its really depressing thinking about how we'll spend a lot of money and still not challenge for anything major. I'm yet to see even the staunchest of Jose defenders who thinks we'll win the league or overtake City next season, they're just going on about how we're so terrible that we shouldn't even be expecting Jose to fix everything next season with only 3-4 new players

Your post would make sense if a lot of Man Utd fans didn't agree with what he said.

Nah, they don't care if Jose stays or goes, they just think we're kind of shite along with lots of United fans

Yeah more likely just because pretty much everything they say is true and is reflected by the fan base. I mean if the fan base is so fractured then quite evidently you’re not doing your job well enough.

Or maybe he was just saying it as he saw it? I have no time for Redtwat, but in this instance I find it hard to disagree with him.

We are an appalling side to watch under Mourinho.

Did that group of players you've named ever actually play together? It's disingenuous to claim Mourinho inherited a completely broken squad.
Never. I looked at the games Rashford started that season and Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger didn't start together in them, Carrick was a constant starter and so was Smalling.

De Gea
Valencia Smalling Blind Rojo
Carrick
Lingard Fellaini Rooney Martial
Rashford

Was closer to the starting lineup. With Mata, Herrera, Schneiderlin and Darmian coming in and out of the team depending on the opponent and injuries. Shaw and Schweinsteiger were constantly injured. If fit, Shaw would have started and not sure about Schweinsteiger.

Ok, which manager doesn't need good players to win?

The money is just assurance of the player's quality (assuming it's spent wisely).

Some managers are able to get average players to perform above themselves/become good. There are also managers who are lucky enough to get good players before everyone else realizes their worth.

But in my opinion, managers need good players to win.
Of course but many managers out there who do not win even with good players. Jose is just a guy to provide some sustained period near the top, make United relevant again, no frills, nothing outstanding, he'll get us over the line nothing more. He hasn't really impressed me but he is a safe bet, is what I am on about. Van Gaal wasn't safe. Conte is cracking, Poch has won nada in multiple attemps, some like to win, others entertain. We will finish top 2 most seasons with Jose I think but it will be boring as hell, uninspiring and that will be our limit. No EPL no CL nothing. Truth is that there probably aren't many managers who would win us the CL or EPL right now.

If Mou doesn’t win a couple of minor trophies or one major trophy by the end of next season, he’ll be gone for sure. Or may be even sooner given how the football world operates nowadays. We have spent too much money for too little result that’s for sure. Can’t say if it’s totally his fault. But the chemistry and the motivation just isn’t there apparently. Our players just don’t look too happy to me.

This is what he inherited, basically an awful squad more suited for a midtable club and actually a disgrace for this great club.
Compare it to City, Chelsea(at that time), or Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve

The board along with the owners should be ashamed of themselves.

His signings has definitely lifted us and he should be trusted with more money. We are where we are now because of him.

 Yorke is a giant moron for saying that and so are those that thought he was right.

If Pep was so big of a genius he would of won a trophy last season when he already had a better squad than us. He's been backed more in the market with an already better squad.

Well look at Klopp at Liverpool. Was there for basically half a season longer then Mourinho's been here. Spent far less and had to sell their best player at the time to Barcelona for a huge fee. In the champions league final now playing "swashbuckling football". Got top 4 in both full seasons in charge. Not like they had a good side at all the day he took over. Coutinho and Firmino, yeah, but the rest pretty trash. And Firmino at the time was nothing special either.

"We are where we are because of him"... well obviously. But we aren't in some amazing place. 2nd place but way off first so basically no different to 3rd or 4th in the end, though awful to watch, got nowhere in the Champions League, but in an FA Cup final. Make no mistake, if we lose in the FA cup, the season will be a flop because of how poorly we did in the CL and because of our shit football. Other clubs are just flat out better on a weekly basis, hence have more reasons to be optimistic. And it's not like we haven't spent a sufficient amount. The board and owners should be ashamed? You can't blame them for not spending, we've spent loads and will continue to spend loads. It's up to the manager to pick the right targets and coach the team to get the best out of what he has too.

And he's set premier league records doing it. You think Mourinho even with a blank cheque book would have them playing anywhere close to what Pep's doing now? Not a chance. Mourinho is a top manager, I'm not saying otherwise, but Pep is easily a better manager then him. The guy sets records wherever he is and has his teams playing brilliant football every single time. He would've done the same here. Would we have won the title this year? Maybe, maybe not. Nobody knows. But I'm pretty confident that we'd be better off then we have been under Mourinho in these 2 years, while City with Mourinho would be worse off then where they were this season with Pep.

And all these excuses for Mourinho when compared to Pep, they don't apply to Klopp, who has done more with them, while playing super attacking football. You don't need to spend 500m every transfer window to be able to play cohesive football. You get a good system then hopefully better players perform that even better (like what Klopp's done with Liverpool, or Pep at City). We don't really have any cohesion in our system, and we've bought quality players since he's been here who have barely had a significant impact. Sanchez is objectively a much better footballer then both Martial and Rashford. Can't really say he's improved us since January compared to before January when Martial/Rash were rotating starts.

Haven't achieved anything yet, fluked his way to a final in the CL and that's that. If he lost two finals at United most of our fans would of want him sacked. He's a serial loser.
He has been at Liverpool 9 months longer than Jose.
We aren't in a amazing place because this is the highest ceiling for this squad, if you think we have some kind of world class squad then your deluded.

What clubs are flat out better? City? Yes because of massive spending in the last 6-7 years, Pool? Have won one trophy in the last 12 year, Spurs:lol:
Arsenal? Chelsea? Don't make me laugh.

I'm not going to bother with a longer response for you, since your hate Mourinho is clear in every other thread and it clouds your judgement.

Who gives a shite about his premier league record that he bought with the already best squad and the most massive spending ever in Pl history. What did he win in his first season in England? A big fat zero, What did Jose achieve when he arrived in his first year in England? That's right.

What records does he set? He is the most overhyped and overrated manager in the modern era. He' built his whole aura around that Barca team that even a mediocre manager like Louis Enrique won a treble with. Haven't won a CL without Messi.

Won consecutive titles with Bayern in the most one sided league in Europe. Had the best squad in England and most money to work with while arriving here.

Pep a far better manager then Jose .
What Mourinho did with Porto and Inter shits all over what he achieved in his career without having Messi and the most talented midfield in the modern era.

I don't care about attacking cohesion or attacking patterns, I care about us rebuilding and progressing and it's something we are doing and winning trophies at the same time. Jose had a far tougher job and that's that.

How the feck have they fluked their way to a Champions League final? By hammering Porto 5-0 on aggregate? Or hammering the new champions of England 5-1 on aggregate? Or pretty much finishing the semi finals in the first leg because of a 5-2 win against Roma? I hate them, but lets not rewrite history here.
Also yeah I would in a heartbeat trade our 2 trophies we won under Mourinho last season and the potential FA Cup final for a realistic chance at the Champions League final. Even if he loses in the final, lets not kid ourselves that it's a bad season for them. They still go there.
"Serial loser"... He was the underdog for literally all of these games, yet he still won the league with Dortmund over Bayern a few times and won the German Cup. So that's still a fantastic achievement. Even ignoring that the football he has his teams play wherever he is, is always brilliant attacking football and he doesn't need 500m to make it happen. I love how you just write off City because of massive spending when we've also spent a feck ton. Yeah, they've outspent us. But we've outspent others and we've
This is the ceiling for this squad? fecking hell. You must think Mourinho is the greatest manager there ever was.

Clubs that are flat out better right now. Flat out better with their performances on a weekly basis. Yeah, Mourinho is good in big games, and the result is all that matters for those. But our actual performances are trash in literally every other game. Are you thrilled to be losing and struggling to score against newly promoted sides on a regular basis? Being outplayed by these trash teams? It can happen to anyone, yeah, but the frequency of our struggles implies its much more of a problem stemming from deeper then just a fluke result. Other clubs have achieved a much better system and play style during their time here. They have problems with consistency or a lack of quality in the end, but are blatantly coached much better.

You mention Chelsea... But over the time Conte has been at Chelsea, they won the league at a canter, and are now in the FA Cup final but finished 5th this season (we finished 6th last season and 1st this season). So again, overall, Conte has easily been better over the 2 years, actually winning the title. Spurs finished 2nd in the league last season, and 3rd this season. We were 6th last season and 2nd this. The trophy thing is very valid against Pochettino and them, but then again, their spending power is nowhere close to what we can spend.

I'll answer the 2nd part in another post. But that's a fecking car crash of a post. Talk about being blinkered.

Some people clearly either think that supporting the manager = supporting the club or just straight up care more about Jose than the club. I don't think he's done a bad job but to see people downplaying a pretty good squad (with a few holes) just to protect him from any criticism is nuts to me.

Comparing what Pep won in his first season in England with what we won... Well for one, they were in the Champions League and we were in the Europa League. No big team wants to be in the Europa League anyway. So it's weird to use that as a stick to beat Pep with, when we flopped hard in the Champions League this season. And then we won the League Cup last season which they won this season. Big fecking deal eh! League cup, get in!!!
The cup that our fans over the years have called the mickey mouse cup, made fun of Liverpool 15 years ago for their Micky Mouse Treble of unimportant cups. Who gives a feck. Unless of course, you are comparing Pep last season to Mourinho in 2004. 14 years ago. Not sure why any of that is relevant anymore with it being so long ago. But anyway.

What records does he set? We're talking about Pep Guardiola here right? Just fecking google them  Win streaks, amounts of wins, goals scored, points totals, winning the league 7 times out of the 9 he's been a manager, 5 CL semi finals, 2 wins, 1 QF and 1 ro16 in 9 years, winning the main cup (FA Cup equivalent) in 4 of the 9 seasons he's been manager, averaging 2.5 goals per game throughout his career as manager, etc... And that Barcelona side of his is pretty much regarded as the best side of all time. To say you're doing him a disservice would be an understatement, pretty much.

Also yeah, what Mourinho did at Porto and Inter was remarkable and will go down in history forever. What he's done since the win with Inter though, is nothing special. He won the title once with Real Madrid, and once with Chelsea in the last 8 years. Like it's not bad, but it's nothing amazing. Won the Copa Del Rey once with Real Madrid. No FA Cups with Chelsea (2nd spell) or United so far (hopefully we get it this year).

"I don't care about attacking cohesion". Okay so you don't care about entertained at all then. I assume you don't care about any youngster progression either then since you're tongue is firmly stuck up Mourinho's ass as well. Rebuilding and progressing... since when has that been Mourinho's lure? His lure has always been come in and instant success despite shit football. Now that since we aren't actually winning anything relevant, it's just progress and rebuilding while playing shit football. Quite the difference.

Edit: Why the feck am I even arguing with you. Looked through a couple of your posts... you even have the nerve to put down Fergie to big him up. Incredible really.

And it has begun!
"The difference of points tell a lot," Mourinho said. "I always think that in the championships the truth is always there. In knockout competitions, sometimes in one bad day or in a lucky or unlucky moment, sometimes the truth is not always there. But in competitions, championships, 38 or 40 matches, the reality is always the reality of the numbers.
"And the reality of the numbers is between second and fifth the difference is three or four or five points, but the difference between the first and the second is a difference of 19 points and that's the reality of the numbers.
"Can we close that gap in one season with a very difficult market, absolutely difficult market? We are going to try."

A few holes? It had about 7 players out of 25 that would have made it into other Top 4 XI’s.

He must make a title challenge next season.
I'd be very happy with a solid title challenge...

Pogba and Sanchez need to step up their game. I don't believe for a second Mourinho is restricting them from being creative and express themselves in matches in anyway....world class players the pair of them time to show up.

spot on

one of Fergie's many qualities

consider the evolution of our team from 4-4-2 with flying wingers to 4-5-1 in the early 00s to a 4-3-3/4-5-1 in his later years when we were at our best in the Champions League 08-10
I don't know if it's possible for Mou to seek guidance from Fergie about adapting. I'd think smart man (like Mou) wouldn't have problem getting input from his long admired friend?

So he doesnt give youngsters enough chances (even though it's a completely dead rubber game), we play consistently shit football, and then he himself doesnt believe he can bridge the gap to City next season (whether that's what is fans think or not is irrelevant, you dont say these things before this season is even over) so essentially, we just have the smaller cups to hope for...

Hopefully he changes next season in a lot of ways. I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully next season is his last one at the club.

So you don't want to watch attacking, entertaining football? Why do you bother watching it at all?

I said in the match thread, the people who think Jose wants to replace Young or his fanboys who use our fullbacks as an excuse for our shit displays are deluding themselves. Young is Jose's dream fullback, aggressive and hardworking in defense, what he does in attack is irrelevant. Same goes for Valencia, he'll make no attempt to replace them and next season when we're playing this same tumescent shit his fanboys on here will be telling us that the club has refused to give him money for fullbacks and Pep spent $100m so we shouldn't be thinking of catching up with them

Pep bought a lot of players but sold a lot more, I don't know why people make it out like he's done something wrong or very outrageous. If anything I think we were much more in need of such ruthless clearout. We are so casual in our transfer dealings. We seem to just enjoy keeping players on the bench and paying them wages, Rojo, Darmian, Blind, Shaw, Jose favorite Fellaini and yes even Carrick. I won't be suprised if we still keep all of them next season then when we're predictably playing shite next season the Jose fanboys will go 'how's Jose supposed to work with these shite players? He's a genius for even being in 3rd position with this shower'... Its his 3rd fecking season.
Next season is key for Jose.

He did have a lot of deadwood to clear out. Fixing the mess after the post Fergie clusterfeck. We’ve finished with higher points tally than ever (since Fergie left) and in we higher league position. We’ve also won 2 cups last season and in the FA cup final next week.

But we need to show much better attacking coherence next season. At times this season, we’ve been losing and looked like we have no clue or chance of scoring. I can give some leeway this season but next season is crunch time.
