My problem with Alexis is that we bought him to play as second striker, right winger or maybe No 10, not as a left winger. Jose's United team has very little width during his two year tenure with Mata or Lingard normally playing as a narrow No 10/right winger with Rashford or Martial originally staying wide to give the team some width on the left.
Sanchez is failing for the following reasons at United;
1. He lacks the elite pace of Rashford or Martial.
2. He comes inside and occupies the same areas as Lingard, Pogba and Mata.
3. He's played too much football for a 29 year old and needs a proper summer rest.
4. Jose failure to use a genuine left footed Wing Back does not help his situation with overlapping play.
5. The contract he signed has had an adverse effect on some Uniteda Players, especially a 20 year old Rashford and a 22 year Martial asking themselves why is this guy being paid 8 to 10 times per week what I am?
6. He loses possession far too much because other united players movements is currently not good enough!
Jose wanted him when he clearly didn't fit the team shape, unless we were going to play a 4-2-2-2 or 3-1-4-2 or even a 4-3-1-2 formation and all of those formations like most modern football team shapes requires exceptional wing backs. (Which we do not have!)
To get the most out of Sanchez, Lukaku, Pogba, Rashford or Martial, we should have purchased two world class wing backs this transfer window like David Alaba and Joshua Kimich for £150M and then we would have seen a significant improvement in the team!
