Yeah you basically missed Max hitting Kimi's rear tyres causing him to lose balance and losing the place to Max. Might as well pay more attention from here on out.
No I saw it. There was nothing to penalise, even Kimi agreed for goodness sake. The stewards are perfectly willing to penalise Verstappen, hence last year at Hungary and the USA GPs.

Kimi nearly pushed Max into the grass one or two corners before Max hit him (which everyone conveniently ignored). Softer contact, no damage.

I get the frustration and there are similarities, but it’s not 100% comparable.
Kimi had the lead and took the racing line in both cases. Max knocked on Kimi's rear and cost him the place. The only difference is Kimi didn't spin off, but that has more to do with how Kimi managed the contact, yet that is considered a racing incident and this one is not. Sorry, does not compute.

Kimi didn't agree with this penalty. Do you agree with that? Also Kimi had clearly said Max knocked him off balance on the radio last race and that's why he was miffed. Clearly you missed that too.

No, the difference is that Max stuck to the inside line whereas in this one Kimi locked up and didn't.

Shame for Leclerc, he'd been doing brilliantly again.

Well of course Kimi didn't agree with this one FFS. Jesus christ. The point was that the driver "wronged" agreed there was enough for a penalty, if Hamilton were to say similar then that would be comparable. And yes, he did instantly say that he felt Max had hit him but after the race he understood it was just normal racing. This wasn't.

Hardly any drivers complain nonstop after the race. That is called accepting what's been dealt. As for the racing line, Kimi didn't go off the racing line for this incident. Hamilton turned into him, while last race Kimi got bumped by Max. Both times it's Kimi who gets penalized by losing position and now a penalty. Yeah, totally see how the stewards are using the same logic every time.

Glad Ericsson is ok. Massive boost for Kimi, can pit now if he wants and get ahead of Ricciardo.

Not sure DRS through turn one was the best idea ever. Merc's lack of fresh soft tyres probably costing Bottas a podium here, hopefully a good fight to the end.

The restart is gonna be crazy. Mercedes took a gamble with Bottas.

Lewis didn't have his tyres for long but there's a delta of 1 sec between the tyres.

Why didn't the mercs pit? Both would be 5th/6th after they pit with some pace off the first 4.

Cos they can get to the end and they are gambling that they can hold on to first and third rather than stick with second and sixth. Good gamble in my opinion.

Lewis was looking at 6th anyway, probably worth the risk. Bottas didn't have any new sets to use. Could be some more tough questions for the pitwall after the race though, slightly used softs was surely the way to go.

Thanks, lads makes sense. Although a slightly used softs would make more sense to Bottas. No way he can hold off Vettel here.

Good lord, it's playing into Mercedes hands now. and two cars to evacuate.

So probably 4/5 laps scrapped.

Well, now it looks more likely that he'll be able to. this safety car is gonna take up to 4/5 laps.

still, with the Safety Car out, they'll be off the pace with 9/13 lap medium tires IMO.

What a great Grand Prix. Drama everywhere:drool:

Some wicked stuff from young Max.

Hoping Lewis can hold on to 3rd but not looking too good I don't think.

Lucky break for Merc with another safety car.

Blimey, Hamilton whining and complaining everytime just make blood boils. Shut up you crybaby
It’s just too much. I don’t get how he can be so insecure about everything.

That first safety car has totally revitalised the race. NASCAR do the whole bunching up thing for exactly this reason (competition yellow I think they call it). Don't be surprised to hear talk of this coming to F1 in the near future especially with the owners being American and all.
