Thank God that's over, the chequered flag being waved too early was the most exciting thing that happened all afternoon. Serious problems for the sport right now.

Don't agree with a lot of the new ownership's decisions, but we have to hope they can knock their heads together with Brawn. Sort out all this boring and slow fuel and engine management. Yes there are cost concerns, but the whole spectacle suffers for it.

When was the last time the leader for the majority of the race crashed out or completely ballsed it up? It’s honestly so boring.

Is Rosberg working for Sky Sports full time?
No, he is also at RTL (German broadcaster). I really like him nowadays, very well spoken.

50th win for Vettel today, enters the exclusive club of only 3 other drivers. One of Lewis or Seb will be joint 2nd in terms of titles after this season. Don't think one of them will ever catch up with Schumacher, Lewis is already 33.

Raikkonen really needs to step down, despite Vettel being dominant and him being on much fresher tyres than the 3 cars in front he ended up losing ground.

Poor race considering Canada is normally a good overtaking circuit.
Delighted Ferrari-Vettel won.

WTF !!

The Canadian GP ended in confusion after the chequered flag, marking the end of the race, was unfurled prematurely.

As a result of the mistake, the 70-lap race has officially been declared as 68 laps long with the final two laps erased.

Although the flag was waved prematurely by Winnie Harlow - a model and friend of Lewis Hamilton - it's understood she wasn't responsible for the gaffe.

Fortunately race victor Sebastian Vettel realised the mistake and carried on to finish the full duration of the grand prix.

Although the final result wasn't affected, with no changes of position taking place over the final laps, the early flag caused confusion after the race when a startled Daniel Ricciardo was told by Sky F1 that Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen had been credited with the race's fastest lap.

Ricciardo had, though, lapped even faster on his final tour of the circuit - only for his effort to be declared invalid, on the official timing computer at least, when the final two laps were erased.

Think that win in Le Mans might see Alonso leaving next year to focus on the triple crown.
He would be mad not to.

What's his option? Staying in an uncompetitive McLaren (showing no real signs of progress)?

No top team will touch him unfortunately. Which leaves the Indy500. He'll go for Indycar I'm sure.

Guy Martin to take on Jenson Button in iconic Senna car for Channel 4

Channel 4 has teamed up with Williams Heritage to rebuild the first Formula One car ever driven by racing icon Ayrton Senna.

Speaking at Sheffield International Documentary Festival, presenter Guy Martin has announced that he will be getting behind the wheel of the Williams FW08C to race F1 champion Jenson Button at Silverstone on the first day of the 2018 British Grand Prix. Jenson will take on Guy in the most unusual of F1 cars: the FW08B – a six-wheeled Williams prototype that was banned by the motor sport’s governing body just months before the 1983 season began. This will be the first time it has ever been driven competitively.

The showdown is the culmination of a new documentary, Speed with Guy Martin: Classic F1 Driver. To be aired on Channel 4 later this year, the documentary sees Guy embark on the huge challenge of rebuilding Senna’s classic car. Not only does he have to get to grips with the intricate engineering and specialised racing technology of a thoroughbred F1 car; but he’ll also have to learn how to drive one of the most challenging motors on earth.

Guy Martin said: "I'm still getting my eye in with the FW08C, it’s the only time I’ve driven a single seater properly. It was the first F1 car to be driven by Ayrton Senna and it won the 1983 Monaco Grand Prix. It’s been a real honour to work with Williams on bringing this bit of history back to life. Driving against Jenson will be interesting, he’s obviously bloody handy behind the wheel."

Red Bull will split with Renault at the end of this season and use Honda engines for the next two years.

The move ends a 12-year relationship during which Red Bull and Renault won four consecutive world title doubles from 2010 to 2013.

The relationship has frayed since turbo hybrid engines were introduced into Formula 1 in 2014 and Renault has found itself behind Mercedes and Ferrari.

Red Bull believe Honda will be more competitive than Renault for 2019-20.

I'd heard that Renault told Red Bull they wouldn't be supplying them rather than Red Bull deciding to leave, but I didn't really know the details.
