He’s just a really, really good Shay Given, isn’t he? His game apart from shot-stopping is mediocre beyond belief for supposedly the best GK in the world

He has a serious lack of balls but that’s nothing new. It’s what separates him from Schmeichel for me. Both great shot stoppers but Schmeichel takes ball and man in those situations.

Honestly I'd rather Romero over him currently.

Pathetic effort tonight. Hes regressed so much that if he leaves he wouldn't be missed.

He’s been getting on my tit end for months and that second goal tonight took the biscuit. Then there’s the persistent inability to come out and help his defenders (see the Lindelof moment).

If he wants to leave then I’m all for it, to be honest. He’s replaceable, and in some ways, has been the beneficiary of how poor our team has been over the years. When we improve, which we will, his weaknesses will appear more obvious than they do when he’s pulling off magical saves.

He's not been good this season. A couple of stand out games but too much really wank goalkeeping that I'd expect from Joe Hart.

Great servant for us - was our strength when we were total shite - but if he wants to leave, so be it. Don't think we should be damaging our wage structure any further. I'm open to giving Henderson or Romero a chance.

Play Romero. Maybe harsh to blame him for first goal but between the pathetic attempt at claiming the ball while Lindelof was shielding the ball in first half and the 2nd goal surely has to lose his place in the starting 11. Absolutely fecking shocking display.

Not his fault, when you have dummies in front of you that you are second guessing yourself.

He's going to have dips in form like everyone. But when you put donkeys immediately infront of any gk you are asking for trouble.

Honestly, I used to think his amazing saves using his feet made up for his lack of presence in the box. But it is getting comical now. He never comes for a cross and collects the ball, and you hardly see mistakes because he doesn't take any risks in coming out-which means more goals for the opposition.

He's been poor for a while now and it's making it hard to justify paying what he demands. Twice today he was scared to come and get the ball and the second time helped cost that goal. Kicking is absolutely dire too.

I hope someone buys him. His distribution and commanding of the area is giving the whole team problems, a keeper has to be more than just a shot-stopper. I don’t know why he is worshipped here, because there are much better goalkeepers than him.

Completely distracted. When LVG put him on the bench that last time with the Madrid saga people were criticising him, but LVG was right and I agreed with his stance. Dave isn't the strongest mentally, so I can imagine if he's got things going on it will affect his performances.

At this moment, we need to stop catering to him and stop being afraid of him going, he needs to be put on the bench and have Romero start.

It's hard to say negative things after what he has done in the past 5 seasons. That goal at the Emirates and today have really disappointed me.

Think he’ll go in the summer, hasn’t recovered from his poor World Cup and he must surely want more from rest of his career. It’s unlikely he will be winning the league here for at least 2-3 years. Should have done much better for 2nd goal. Romero gifted them the winner in the cup and we gifted them both goals tonight.

One thing for certain Romero isn’t his replacement, we would have to go out and find someone which won’t be cheap.

Plus he was at fault for the first Southampton goal, and he had a panicked flap at a PSG cross in injury time instead of catching it as he should have done which almost cost us.

The last 5 or 6 weeks he's been dreadful.

We'd be better off with Romero in goal. I don't think De Gea's heart is in it anymore

Very poor tonight. A couple of instances where he was more concerned about getting clattered than getting the ball

By his own very high standards DeGea hasn't been himself this season. He hasn't suddenly become a bad goalie. He is making more mistakes than he used to though. Maybe he's mind is elsewhere? Could be we see a Spanish exodus with DeGea, Mata and Herrera all hitting the road this summer.

On this form it’ll be easier to stomach him leaving. Really not sure what’s happened. His head’s been turned before and his form never dropped.

This is what worries me. Why hasn't this been addressed by the goal keeping coach? Either we have the worst goal keeping coach or Dave is resistant to improving these aspects of his game. When you see the Swansea keeper against City, playing the ball out from the back and having good distribution then you have to wonder why Dave can't do it. He is twice the talent of that keeper and yet he's not doing half of those things.

I agree. He's done too much good here to start bagging him after a relatively poor season but he's well off the boil at the moment.

Peak Shay Given was better than post-2017 De Gea.
He was really good for most of last season particular during the first half of the season. His terrible world cup seem to have fecked him mentally. A lot of people here just brushed it over, but now he is poor for us too.

Yeh. been saying this for ages. He always bottle it for Spain also. Just no balls.
