Heck of a team with Smith and Warner to slot in.Australia hitting form right before a World Cup shock horror.
Cummins+Starc Hazlewood won't be ready?Heck of a team with Smith and Warner to slot in.
Finch
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb (wk)
Maxwell
Stoinis
Starc
Cummins
Lyon/J Richardson
Zampa
Or something to that effect I would imagine.
Oi, behave!Want them to choke again
On current form, they have to be the favorites.Australia hitting form right before a World Cup shock horror.
Looks horrid. Like a third rate Norwich City kit.Australia WC Kit released:
Other than that weird funnel shape below the collar, that looks lovely.
Pollard and Narine are almost certain not to go. Russell might.Flat wickets and it'll be England/Australia.
If the wickets aren't flat, then the above two will struggle and can see India being favourites.
The great thing about this WC is the uprising of West Indies and Pakistan being stronger than I've seen them for a while. The former might not be a contender for the final few places but they'll be exciting to watch. No idea which players will be going but the likes of Pollard, Narine and Russell are a must.

Nah, Pollard is still great. For someone who's batted as low as 5 or 6 in the IPL, he stats are awesome. It's a shame, to be honest, so much talent that could make them a feared team.Pollard and Narine are almost certain not to go. Russell might.
Windies anyway dont need Pollard. They've better players in Holder and Braithwate.
You disagree? You've been a nothing team till recently. Although early days, you have like 5 batsmen averaging 45+.
We are still a nothing teamYou disagree? You've been a nothing team till recently.
Check my edit.We are still a nothing team
Think mjj doesn't rate pakistani team as highly as you do.Nah, Pollard is still great. For someone who's batted as low as 5 or 6 in the IPL, he stats are awesome. It's a shame, to be honest, so much talent that could make them a feared team.
Check the strike rate of those batsman.Check my edit.
Maybe my point was misunderstood. I'm not rating them highly. They're a good "filler" side who'll make the tournament interesting. They're, by no means, favourites to reach the semis.Think mjj doesn't rate pakistani team as highly as you do.
Says the guy who thinks Dhoni is a power hitter.Check the strike rate of those batsman.
He doesn't get into the Windies side ahead of Carlos and Holder that's my point. He's useless as a bowler and very inconsistent as a batsman.Nah, Pollard is still great. Good talk. Go back to watching videos of umpires having imaginary conversations.Says the guy who thinks Dhoni is a power hitter.
They could go: Gayle; Narine; Lewis; Hope; Hetmyer; Holder; Russell; Pollard; Brathwaite; Roach; Thomas. He doesn't get into the Windies side ahead of Carlos and Holder that's my point. He's useless as a bowler and very inconsistent as a batsman.
Maybe @Cloud7 could have some input but it's laughable that Darren Bravo is being selected in the ODIs.Windies XI looks excellent to be honest. Just lacking a proper spinner.
Gayle
Campbell/Lewis
Darren Bravo
Hope
Hetmyer
Holder
Russell
Braithwaite
Nurse
Oshane Thomas/Joseph
Alzarri Joseph
Is a very, very strong XI
That's an overload of hitters. That's a good t20 team but in 50 overs you need players to consolidate. That's why they need Hope and Bravo in the middle! They could go: Gayle; Narine; Lewis; Hope; Hetmyer; Holder; Russell; Pollard; Brathwaite; Roach; Thomas.
That's a powerhouse team.
Hope, Hetmyer and Holder provide enough stability. Gayle's no mug as well. Besides, that's a team that could get bowled in 30 overs and still post a respectable total. That's an overload of hitters. For that they're going to score 9 runs an over. Ffs.Hope, Hetmyer and Holder provide enough stability. Gayle's no mug as well. Besides, that's a team that could get bowled in 30 overs and still post a respectable total.
Look at what England are doing. They've pack their team with power hitters. The second it gets the difficult, watch them fold like a pack of cards. For that they're going to score 9 runs an over. Ffs.
Arguing with Di Maria about cricket (well anything really) is a fruitless exercise. For that they're going to score 9 runs an over. Ffs.
Why so serious?Arguing with Di Maria about cricket (well anything really) is a fruitless exercise.
I'm not sure Pollard has ever been great, let alone still great, in the ODI format.Nah, Pollard is still great. For someone who's batted as low as 5 or 6 in the IPL, he stats are awesome. It's a shame, to be honest, so much talent that could make them a feared team.
Honestly, I think we need him. He’s wildly inconsistent, so there’s every chance that he fails in every match, but an in form and properly focused Darren Bravo is probably our best batsman (Gayle storm aside). I agree that we need someone to be able to provide a bit of stability to the top and middle order. Holder can do it but he comes in too late. Hope is still inconsistent. Hetmeyer, while supremely talented, is the absolute opposite of stability.Maybe @Cloud7 could have some input but it's laughable that Darren Bravo is being selected in the ODIs.
Here you go:Check the strike rate of those batsman.
Do you see the problem yet? Our middle order basically is full of players who hold up an end and none of them can accelerate properly. We are hugely reliant on fakhar to give us a good start and imad to hit a few near the end. Here you go:
Fakhar - 96
Babar - 85
Imad - 105
Haris - 82
Imam - 80
In terms of great, I was exclusively referring to him in the IPL where he's been extremely useful for MI. For someone who bats at number 6 or 7 (ODIs), he still has a lot to offer.I'm not sure Pollard has ever been great, let alone still great, in the ODI format.
He might have been one of the better T20 sloggers around (although even then I think he was just the first), but there's players that do what he can do better in that format. In ODIs his bowling is rubbish, so he's being picked primarily for his batting, and Hetmayer has more ODI centuries than Pollard after 25 matches.
Apart from England, you'll find it difficult to identify another team with obsurdly high strike rates. For instance, off the top of my head, the India players go something like this:Do you see the problem yet? Our middle order basically is full of players who hold up an end and none of them can accelerate properly. We are hugely reliant on fakhar to give us a good start and imad to hit a few near the end.
I had a discussion with a friend about Narine and he felt that generally batsmen have decided to play it safe against Sunil and play out his 4 overs for very little. The little man is a beast though; last 3 seasons, his strike rates have been 170+ and he managed 350 runs last season. Best ever to play in the IPL.Honestly, I think we need him. He’s wildly inconsistent, so there’s every chance that he fails in every match, but an in form and properly focused Darren Bravo is probably our best batsman (Gayle storm aside). We do lack a proper spinner, as I don’t think Sunil trusts his action enough to bowl for ten overs, and to be honest his bowling hasn’t been that good for quite a while now. Even in our regional T20 (CPL) he’s not among the best bowlers anymore, never mind at a World Cup level.
The team in the post you quoted is probably the one I would go with as well. I don’t rate Ashley Nurse at all, but I really don’t know who’s in the fold to potentially replace him. Don’t think there’s much time to blood new players in either. From Holder’s comments it seems that the team we played for the England series is the team we’re taking to the World Cup, hopefully with the addition of Russell. It would be insane for the selectors to ignore what he’s doing in the IPL right now. He simply has to go to England.
Edit: For what it’s worth, I really really don’t rate Braithwaite either. For me the only good thing he’s ever done in a West Indies jersey is that over against Stokes, but the selectors absolutely adore him so I won’t even entertain any ideas of him being dropped.
