Possible Jon & Danny resolution...

In the big battle, something happens where Jon is overwhelmed by a load of wights and the night king, Danny has no option but to get Drogon to burn them all. The dust clears and all that is left is a naked and undamaged Jon. Danny sees that he is a true Targ and they live happily ever after as king and queen.

I think it may be the other way around in terms of who saves who

But he "knows it to be true", problem solved.
Yeah, but how does he know that? He's never had any reason to believe he's targ at all. At least if he had white hair or purple eyes, it would be kind of a give away. But I suppose if Bran confirms it and tell it how it is, you can't really doubt him since he's basically omniscient

Anyone feel that it's a bit odd how quickly Jon accepted that he is Aegon and the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna? It just felt like it took him 2 minutes to accept the best kept secret in westeros.
Two very much trusted people tell him independently of each other, I could see Sam lying to him about it, but Bran doesn't have enough of a personality left in him to find a reason to lie about this. And something was always fishy about painfully honourable Eddard Stark fathering a bastard and not even telling the boy who his mother was.
Him riding a dragon was also a very big give away. Iirc that's reserved for Targaryens.

No book spoilers please but given that Jon Snow is half Targaryan does that mean he can fly or is the ability recessive and he's more like a penguin?

I critique the show’s writing quality, or lack thereof, as much as the next fella, but it is extremely unfair on Benioff and Weiss to incessantly slam their narrative when the original author himself in completely stuck in a bind and has spent eight years on a still-unfinished sixth installment in the series.

It’s a very complex story to complete properly with so many character arcs to juggle. I think they’re going a commendable job with the television series all things considered.

People just love to hate. Ask them to attempt to write a 10k word short story and they’d struggle but it’s so easy to just ridicule and moan and complain about what others do. It’s so tiresome. That last episode was awesome, some great interactions, humour, moving moments, everyone dealing with the fact they could very well die tomorrow in their own way, and some on here just want FIGHTS. and then others complain at other times that things move too quickly. things are never right for some people. it’s almost pointless reading these threads due to their incessant negativity.

He should at least be able to eat really hot pizza without melting his face off.

RE the Night king:

They don't actually know he has a dragon yet do they? they know he shot 1 of them down but if I remember correctly he revived it after they'd gone. I think the reason they haven't shown the king yet is because he's going to enter the battle midway. The living will be winning the battle, then the king will ride in on his ice dragon and reign havoc turning the tide.

I don't think so really. They have unlimited money to hire good writers do their work for them if they can't produce the goods. I love the show as much as anyone, but the terrible writing is really preventing this show from becoming an all time great as it was before they ran out of book material.

If the next episode is as full on as it sounds then the gentle buildup will only increase it's carnage.

I think most people fail to grasp how difficult it is to write well in a short time frame. It doesn’t matter how good of a writer you are. Especially a story that is complex like this one. And unlike an author like Martin, show writers don’t have the luxury of just waiting until they have everything perfect, there is an entire production team waiting for them, actors who aren’t waiting around for 5 years for another season, HBO demands and deadlines, and so on.

If you want to blame anyone for the drop in writing quality in the later seasons, blame Martin.

I see, I don't think any of them were listening so it still stands. I don't think they're prepared for dragons.

They'r expecting Wights, walkers,Giants even... but not flying.

Mostly that, but other than that it did kind of feel like a, shut-up-I-just-am-and-the-audience-should-just-believe-me-so-we-can-move-on moment

Just a thought - if the NK wasn't at Winterfell wouldn't Bran have known?

Surely he must therefore be with his army..

Honestly cock jokes from tyrion and all that and cersei telling Euron, she's not a whore and he has to earn a queen, and then walking off and proceeding to feck him 30 seconds later? I get it they aren't geniuses, but I still feel they would maintain some standards.

At least we finally got that Arya sex scene we've all been waiting for from season 1 eh?

No paedophile/rape jokes before anyone thinks of posting two. Should go without saying really but have to post it as I know what some are like.

It was completely needless and uncomfortable... not sure what they were thinking with that one to be honest.

Am I the only one that finds it annoying that John calls her ‘Dany’?... is that a book thing, or have the writers adopted the terms used online? It feels so out of place as a term, considering the setting. He might as well call her Boo at this point.

It is.

No different than Ned for Eddard or Cat for Catelyn or cnut for Joffrey.

Viserys did too, in season 1 didn't he? She even referenced it last season I believe.

Why was it uncomfortable? Why is it completely ok for her to go round slaughtering people as an 18 year old but not be ok for her to want a shag before she dies?

... Because she looks like a child? And even though she has been murdering folk, the show has gone out its way to present her as a child who is murdering folk.

Probably because people have watched her grow up from a little girl. It's perfectly understandable.

The scene was unnecessary though, I get her thoughts and who knows it might even lead to something story-wise, but they just didn't need to show it like that. Not that I'm bothered either way tbh, I just get why some are.

She's like 22, obviously it can seem kinda weird because we remember her as a kid when the show started but she's a fully-grown adult now and her character is presumably supposed to be of adult age as well.

She could be 30 years old, still doesn't mean she doesn't look like a child, or change the fact that we've literally seen her grow up from when she was a child.

Also - as I just edited in, the show hardly portrays her as an adult in the same way that it portrays say Sansa... half of her character is people being shocked that this little girl is a stone-cold killer.
