Cricket is so damn boring these days.

The same damn team India go arou d like no one exists.

Only because no one can compete with the IPL.

A big country going around with the biggest league that doesn't allow their players playing abroad & the whole thing just stinks now.

I miss the time of Tendulkar and Dravid.

Now I see kholi's face & just recognise a face that is nothing but a pure mechanic of the biggest country and the biggest league managing to unearth their best players whilst the rest of the countries have much more of hard time.

I can't stand the fans either - dancing around winning like they were the underdogs all the time it's embarrassing

Agreed. We focused on that when Arthur became the coach & it ended up with us the likes of Hassan & Shadab emerging and us winning the CT. Have moved away from that focus in the last 12-15 months to the default Pakistani way.

There is no reason why Australia should have been historically so much more successful than England in WCs. At least Pakistan can argue that India has been able to develop the game better due to a bigger market amongst many other factors.

Yep, this is the problem India is going to face. If we win, its because of our massive population, and if we lose its a shame that we lost inspite of our massive population. At the highest level of any game, its just 11 against 11 and the performance on the pitch is what matters. A basic level of cricket coaching is required, which I think all 10 teams competing in the World Cup possess.

Makes me laugh when I see people crying about IPL giving India unfair advantage of any kind. When I first started watching it was not uncommon for some Pakistani or West Indian cricketers to even miss out on international matches so that they could earn proper money via a county stint (don't recall if any Indian players missed matches too). England for quite a while had the best and most competitive first class cricket set up which ideally ,having exposed their talent pool to a lot of top foreign talent, should have served them well. IPL is just a 1 and half month tournament where most players only participate after a sign off by their boards. If Indian board had any proper ambition they could really disrupt the global cricket by setting up a much longer league essentially forcing a lot of foreign players to choose between playing for country or playing for Indian franchises/clubs for 3-4 months a year. Even now South African players moving to England via Kolpak ruling is more disruptive.

Main and perhaps only advantage of IPL for India has been the increase in depth of available talent pool. Now you can make it big in cricket in India even if you don't become a NT regular.

Whilst I won’t deny there’s times where we should have done better, despite our money and set up the talent pool in England is actually relatively small. The sport is still largely the domain of private schools and we struggle to get kids playing early enough. A lot of schools don’t even play cricket and it’s not a sport people play casually like going down the park for a kick about.

Hopefully the shorter formats capture kids imaginations more but I’m not convinced it will

It's an issue of accessibility. The sport is dominated by privately schooled toffs in England, who are the only ones who can afford access to coaching/clubs/equipment early on.

They need to see it. 2005 did more for the sport than any T20 tournament, but the ECB capitalised on it by cashing in not expanding the game. The enthusiasm is there for basically any visible sport in this country (hell every year the entire country pretends to like Tennis and Rugby). Cricket just hasn't been that for 15 years.

The problem is BCCI. The sport is literally being skewed towards India and the Indian audience. It's where all the money is at but the sport itself is dying everywhere but India.

BCCI + ICC will regret their actions if they keep going like this. 15 years from now India will be far ahead of the pack and win every world cup but other teams will lose interest with how the sport is presented. Already I see less English fans compared to 2005 Ashes.

How is England underperforming? They have rarely had a team that was down as number one favorites. They might win it this year anyway

Why has it become such a batsman's game and not as many 95mph bowlers or reverse swing? It doesnt even feel like there's as much spin or is it just these conditions.

But what do you want BCCI do. You are acting as if BCCI is stopping other cricket boards from going. It sounds very bitter. Also this whole BCCI = ICC is one big bs and another bitter statement. ECB Australian Cricket Board and BCCI all share equal power and yet BCCI gets most of the blame. BCCI is a money making machine but they have earned that. I bet if it was ECB who were making all these money none of the bitter people would have any problem.

I am so glad to see lot of ex Pakistan cricketers rather than being bitter are admitting that indian board have worked hard to be where they are and not making stupid decisions.

I wish people said the same thing when the Australian team was on another planet compared to the other teams for almost a decade. Meanwhile Indian wins a match, all hell breaks loose.
