Southee and Henry come in for NZ, I always feel like Southee does well against England.

500 barrier to be broken today surely?
Inshallah and then England bowl out New Zealand for under 200 and then Pakistan thrash Bangla and both my teams can go through. Happy days.

Pak will do well just to beat Bangbros never mind thrashing them.

Bit derogatory of the NZ attack. Even teams who start well haven’t sustained it. Wickets fall and it’s not always easy to sustain such a run rate.
Toothless attack when the pitch is a road especially with Lockie missing. No reason not to go for 500.

I would hardly call it a toothless attack even with Ferguson there. Some swing in the pitch but with the hot weather no doubt a good one to bat on.
England are not going to score 500 but this pitch is feck all. Should be good for 350+ easily.

So you're supporting 20% of the teams in this world cup

Pak fans slowly moving from rooting for NZ to rooting for Eng to get as many runs as possible.

Red Card for Casemiro!
Was he better than the options picked?
In his prime, definitely. At 34 with his recent form before the WC, no.

If we are playing it conservative, I would have liked to pick him over Mayank because of his experience, but that's about it.

He had terrific potential in his younger days. Nurtured properly, he could have been a star. But the ICL scandal, North vs South politics and his own ego and tendency to ruffle the wrong feathers at the wrong time meant that he never ended up realizing his potential.

This is why England are so dangerous. 48 off the first 6.

They maximise the batting powerplay

Thanks for the detailed reply.

Yes but also 20% greater chance of heart-attack as they're two of the flakiest sides in international sport. :nervous:

Yeah was a nothing wicket, Bairstow struggled when Roy went out against India so hopefully he does better this time.

Why is root coming out, England should be looking to turn the screw and have Morgan then Stokes come out, now I need to watch Root plodding along to 40 of 50 odd

I can see Bairstow's whining has worked and England have gotten the pathetic batting pitches they wanted. They get a couple of good pitches which give bowlers a bit of assistance and they go crying to the ICC to give them pitches they want.

Bairstow must be better than Fergie when it comes to mind games to influence both the ICC and the weather.

The weather has been fine for a while. The pitches have magically gone from 250-270 to 350 when England is playing.

Not saying he has had a direct influence. But the whining from Bairstow was pathetic and childish.

Weather only just picked up in England last Thursday and has generally been above 20. But we had one day above 33 degrees on Saturday which will have had an impact.

Should be pointed out India scored above 300 yesterday and should have been more and Bangladesh came close as well. Sri Lanka also scored 338 and then WI also scored above 300 as well. So recent weather has had an impact here.

I agree Bairstow's whining was pathetic but clearly he didn't have a direct influence on the ICC.

More than the pitch etc. They got lucky with the tosses and it went in their way. Got nothing to do with Bairstow.

Batting first is almost a sureshot way to win in this tourney

What was Root thinking!?

Buttler in, he's not had much time to bat besides against Pakistan.
