Exactly, plus play him upfront. I am really excited about his attitude and desire so far this pre-season. How shit he was treated as soon as last manager came and at the pre-season of last year.

I don't think Mourinho messed him up that much, he just didn't develop him. Mourinho's never been the type of manager to coach our players attacking players to every little detail- he said he wants them to essentially think on the spot in the final third.
LVG however controlled almost every single aspect of how we played. Most times Martial received the ball (which was most of the time, because he was our only good player) he was in a very similar situation so he knew who would be where at what times etc which is why he looked a lot better back then.
He was so great to watch. He's still definitely got that in him, he looked similar to this against Tottenham.
In that video his first thought is turn and get running at the defender with speed. Far too often in the last year or 2 he's been happy to hold the ball standing still and try to work a 1-2 or just pass backwards.
I don't know if he lacked fitness or he's had it coached out of him, but if we can get that Martial back he'd be unstoppable.
Agree. I think it really impacted him, having it stripped away to be given to a temporary mercenary - Zlatan’s a prick for demanding/accepting it.
LVG would've turned him into the best player in the league by now if he had stayed . He was crazy good in that first season. Pity he fecked up the rest of the team and had to be sacked.

Plus whoever out of him and Rashford gets shunted to the wing seems to insist on playing like an idiot. They're clearly both capable of playing well out wide so it's quite annoying. Rashford turns on Ronaldo mode (he's found a way for this to be a bad thing) while Martial just wants to constantly cut inside at the speed of a sloth. Meanwhile whichever one is up top magically regains their footballing ability and brain functionality.

His movement has improved greatly in this pre-season. Hopefully, he keeps it up.
Work rate has definitely improved. Also seems to be willing to make runs in the channels. By the way, was yesterday the first time he has ever made a sliding challenge?

He had decent game, his work rate has improved a lot. Slide tackle was the highlight of the match, never seen him doing that before.

Martial always had it and was happy with the number 9 shirt before it was taken from him. Went into a bit of a sulk but I'm sure he will show again how good he can be if he was played there.

Martial does well when surrounded by other top players. He had a very good understanding when Rooney was around. Now he just gets frustrated easily when he has to rely on lingard feeding him. I really do think he has a mentality problem. At certain points of the game yesterday you could see a sigh from him when lingard held on to the ball for too long or when he wasn't being picked out quick enough. When dybala and fernandes arrive you will see better output from him. Dybala, Pogba, Bruno and mata providing support is a win.
That literally shows nothing. Martial is good finisher but he generally doesn't attempt many shots so being good finisher means he will top this list always. Compare it with Ronaldo and he will be way down on the list.

What does "chance" even mean?
Could all be fools gold but I fancy Martial to have a big goalscoring season up front. I think he'll be around the 20 goal mark which is much needed.

It doesn't say much. Everyone knows Rashford shoots from ridiculous distance and angles whereas Martial doesn't. So his conversion will be obviously better than others who takes many shots from distance.
