That's based on nothing on but your imagination. Paul's bro has a loose mouth, sometimes it's just as simple and there is nothing one can do about it if he wants to talk about these things.
If it was once or twice ok but it’s been many times and if Paul wanted him to stop he would tell him to, same with that agent of his.

Putting stats aside, I definitely remember Ibra missing some very presentable chances created by Pogba. In more recent seasons I can only very rarely remember players missing really clear-cut chances created by Pogba.

The chances he created for Rashford vs Southampton were by no means easy to score from. Unlike the chance vs Chelsea, which Rashford did score from. So this xA stuff intuitively makes sense to me.

Put it this way, can anyone remember the last time a United player missed a golden opportunity created by Pogba?

The McT one is at 55 seconds in this video, not sure on the James one, its possibly the good cross at the end, although the Southampton player gets it so I'm not sure. If they evaluate how many players are in the box from each team and who should get the ball on average in those situations I don't know. You'd have to watch the full game to see if there were any others.

can't watch. Post another video.

Do you know who his agent is ? There is no stopping him to talk if he wants to talk, Raiola is one the most powerful agents in the world. His bro has been talking like that for a while, a loud and loose mouth. I mean you can entertain that he is Pogba's megaphone, just as you can entertain he's doing what he wants, personally I don't know so therefore I won't make an opinion based on it.

It's a pass that resulted in a kind of decent chance, although on that you should expect a forward to score from on most occasions, it is what it is. Its Opta that have designed this model, not me. It's infinitely better than fanboys on a forum trying to prove their favourite player did things he didn't based on hazy and extremely biased memories.
Pogba had couple of passes that results of decent chances in that game.

That's not true, there is no evidence how is a computer tool can be better than human's brain & eye in this aspect. You are just making it to suit your point. Computer tool is just used to support or help but the final decision will always be relied on human's decision.

He did miss clear cut chances but scored much harder ones, he was poor one on one. He outperformed his xG in his season with us though by virtue of scoring those harder chances, long shots etc.

I don't think you're that much unbiased yourself when you write something like this.

I don't think you understand how xG works, it assesses the chances or goals by how many other players have scored from the same positions in the past, its a pretty comprehensive tool in assessing the quality of chances. How does your eye test draw on that mountain of comprehensive data to do the same, are you really saying that you can remember all the chances that have ever happened in the Premier League and can assess accordingly?

I am biased like anyone else and my outlook on Pogba has dimmed. If I say, 'Pogba's trash and other players make him look better than he is' then feel free to dismiss me.

That said, I am discrediting their opinions using Opta's xA stat, not my own opinion so in this particular case my bias is moot.

In any walk of life you can tell your brother to shut his mouth if talking about your profession, hell I tell mine to shut it just for sport. Riola doesn’t seem to have these issues with his other players. Just the naive (apparently) Paul Pogba.

Ive told my brother to do things before and he has ignored me. Not that I am saying thats what has happened here but you are jumping to conclusions.

Pauls brother could maybe like his name being in the press. Maybe its financially benificial for him

I’m sure he’s well looked after, they seem a close family which just makes Paul even more unprofessional if he’s either not shutting him up or even worse encouraging it.

I think we’re talking at cross purposes here. I’m not talking about Pogba and xG. I’m talking about the idea that he keeps creating great chances, missed by the incompetent players ahead of him. It maybe did happen in Ibra’s first season but doesn’t seem to happen much any more.

Hence he’s outperforming his xA (the point you made) and it’s hard to remember anyone on our team missing a really presentable chance created by Pogba (the point I made, in response to people who prefer to use their own memory rather than analyse stats)

Agree I haven't noticed his creating many chances this season

You can tell him but can you guarantee he'll listen to you. If you can, fine but that has nothing with Pogba and his bro. You're projecting your life unto him, how you'd do certain things. The fact will always remain you have no about the dynamics in that family to formulate a sure opinion.
Raiola has no issues with anyone because he does what he wants to a certain extent. None of his clients have had a contract like Pogba does at Man United so whatever he'd attempt, the club was and is still in a position of strength for a little while. It will never stop him from talking though

Using a particular objective stat doesn't make bias free my friend and that's all I am saying. We are all the same in a way, no matter what we use to back up our various claims and opinions

I really want to see us deploy Fred and McTominay as a 2 and Pogba in the 10. Reckon its likely his best position as he won't get found out when holding the ball too long in deep position, and we can maximise on him as a creative outlet. I think with James Martial and Rashford making runs in behind the defenders, the opposition will be stretched and he'd find more pockets to work in too.

I’m struggling to remember any really great chances created - and missed - last season as well. Am open to being reminded of any if my memory is the issue here.
He did put Rashford through on goal a few times last season that I remember and also Lukaku. There were certainly a few but probably not a lot or many

I can agree with that but perhaps the issue is his work rate and high pressing? Ole seems to want to play the high press with his attacking players, hence Lingard whenever he's fit.

Why don't we just play 433, Pogba hasn't been great as a 10 for us from what I remember

Isn’t anybody bothered that were 3 years in with Pogba, chances are he will leave at the end of the season and no one including our managers seem to agree on his best position

I think its universally accepted he is a CM and not a 10

There's been a lot of discussion on this topic already. To me it's obvious we need midfield reinforcements regardless of whether Pogba stays or not. If we get Rice/Neves + Maddison then Matic and Pogba can go.

A 4-3-3 generally has a sitting player like Jorginho and then two all action midfielders, Sarri would play Kante and Kovaic/Barkley for example, does Pogba really fit into that system, in defence workrate specifically?

a non defending non tracking back centre midfielder?
You do realise he did quite a lot of defending last season right? Anyway it is pointless making that point to you.

He does less defending than a defensive midfielder (apart from our DM last season Matic) which is why you have a mix in a 2 or a 3 with one more defensive minded player and another more attacking. That doesn't mean he is non defending. Pogba should be the more attacking CM in any partnership for us because we lack creativity and attacking flair in our midfield.

He isn't a no10 though he isn't great playing so far ahead of the ball

Since he cut his hair, he's less powerful and creative.

Fred can sit
I more mean that Pogba doesn't have the workrate for that position. Sarri would use Kante (11.5km per 90) Kovacic (11.5KM) and Barkley (12km) in those positions. Pogba covered 10.4km per 90 in the PL for us last season. In that formation you need high energy players in those positions.

I'd like to know why you think he is a 10 and give examples of when he has excelled in that position
I did not say he was a 10, I just said its not universally accepted. He played it last season under OGS and did most of his goal scoring and assisting in that position.

Not always the case. He has played there before also.
I think our whole team were unfit last season? And as a team we covered not a lot of distance per 90?

That is true, I always felt he played more as an 8 though.

 - you do realise I’d love him to be a success here? I’m just fairly certain in my convictions that is not going to happen.

Anyway I thought he had already come and said his preferred position is on the left of a midfield 3.
