Martial is no world beater but he's vital to this team that has such minimal goal threat, dribbling ability and creativity from other players.

Our PL record since start of last season:

Played 46 Won 21 (46%) Drawn 12 (26%) Lost 13 (28%)

With Martial starting:

Played 21 Won 12 (57%) Drawn 4 (19%) Lost 5 (24%)

Without Martial starting:

Played 25 Won 9 (36%) Drawn 8 (32%) Lost 8 (32%)

He also started only 4/12 games against last season's bottom 6.

Yes, i'm bored.

Without him and Pogba we have no idea on how to attack against a set defense since our tactics are "Go out and express yourselves boys...."

There is a severe lack of attacking quality elsewhere in this squad. This isn't to say things will be great when they come back either but we'll at least have more hope of a goal, until he's injured again.

It's clear he had a major muscle tear. Have to let it heal, then regain flexibility and strength. Then see how it reacts against rest and stress again. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a set back during the rehab.

I thought I saw something where Rashford misplaced a pass to Martial, causing him to reach back for the ball and injure himself in the process.

No wonder we look clueless without him. We atleast had Lukaku last season to get those goals now without Lukaku and Martial out we're sitting ducks.

He's gradually becoming more and more injury prone every season.

Barely missed any game time his first year, few injuries the year after, few more the year after that... Every year he's picking up more and longer injures.

Or he's actually injured and can't play...
I might be making more of it than I thought, but according to Transfermarkt stats he has missed 8 games through injury already this season. That's nearly as much as the last 2 seasons put together. He was out of a lot of previous squads but not injured which is probably skewing my thinking, but 8 games missed through injury already with a hamstring issue is worrying.

Not really, depending on the tear degree a player can be out for a long time.

Yea, in fairness I think I'm making more of it than it actually is. I think in previous seasons where he has been missing from squads makes me think he is injured a lot but it's not really the case. Seems like this is a bad injury too. I hold my hands up, my bad.

I know how you feel. I think it just feels so dire because we didn't plan for this kind of thing, and have no depth at striker. We really do miss Martial, despite his inconsistency.

Yeah the more I think of it, that's what I think it is. The depth of quality up front really is shocking at the moment.

Didn't Mourinho question his toughness when he was here? I remember when he was praising Smalling for getting himself fit quickly after an injury he aimed a dig at Martial and Shaw for not doing the same.

Guys the man has an injury which is keeping him out right now. It's not that deep.

All these assumptions about toughness, not wanting to play etc are just unessessary mental gymnastic.

Whenever we need him, he is injured, it’s doing my nut it.
I would personally look to sell him in the summer and bring in players who can actually stay fit even if they’re not as “talented”.

What do you consider staying fit? If we would sell all our players that spend the same amount of time sidelined as martial because of an injury, ahh we would be in trouble.

We’re already in trouble, and having so many crocks who cannot stay fit, ever, is up there as one of the biggest reasons we’re in trouble.
Literally impossible to build anything with such players.

You're acting as if this is unique to Martial, United always deals with a lot of injuries, often time early in the season. You should personally look to get rid of your medical staff rather than one of your few talented players.

Why doesn't someone just say how serious his injury is? It started as a minor injury he could get over in the Intl. break and now we are heading to the next Intl. break with no news.

Please don't bring up that cnut anymore. Anything and everything he spoke was only to prop himself up.

Why are people always looking for a reason to suggest selling him?

You’ve replied to a post where I literally explain my reasoning, plus he hasn’t developed at all since LvG’s second and he is incredibly inconsistent.
Not saying we should be releasing him for free, but if a decent offer for him was on the table in the summer, I would let him go.

Same with Pogba, almost as if the medical staff was incompetent.

He was actually having a dig at Smalling who didn't want to play with a painkiller.

Before the game Mourinho revealed how Smalling and Shaw had forced him into a late defensive reshuffle with their late withdrawals.

“Smalling doesn't feel that he can play 100 per cent with his pain,” said Mourinho.

“Shaw told me this morning that he wasn't in the condition to play, so we had to build a defensive line.”

Pretty sure this is why Smalling then played vs Chelsea with a broken foot and we lost 4-0 and he was out for ages after. Jose is a prick when it comes to injuries and possibly part of it is due to not really being an athlete himself and experiencing them. I recall JT saying Mourinho doesn't speak to you or acknowledge your existence if you're injured.

You want that so you can carry on moaning weekly about how shit our squad is and all that bla.

Seems to me like some of you just don't know what you want and are just itching for a moan. These boards has spend days/months complaining about average players and want them replaced with quality yet here you are now moaning about something else and wanting the squad to fill in more average/"hardworking horses" just because you think they're gonna stay fit and magically nevery get injured.

Also learn about injuries. Martial isn't a Jones or Bale's case to be labeling him a crook. He did his hamstring so he's out for a couple of months, it's quite unfortunate but these things happen. Get over it.

For the life of me I can't see where Martial was injured. I watched the Palace game twice more to see if I could have some idea. nada, zero, zilch. He was fine all through the game then he passed the ball for James to score his screamer went to celebrate and when Palace restarted from the kick off Martial was out on the wing not moving. He was then basically stationary until the end of the game. (about 5 or 6 minutes)

If you watch the replay, when he passed the ball to James he was very light on his feet so he wasn't injured before and a player has to be very very unlucky to get a major muscle tear celebrating a goal. The club aren't helping matters either. If it's a serious injury they know pretty quickly and everyone is informed but all these weekly updates smell of BS.

I said that he won't even be back for Liverpool and he will be out for more than 2 months, but then some posters decided to attack me for it and I was told Martial will definitely be 100% match fit for the 19th. He was one of my favourite players during that debut season but has become totally unreliable and kind of injury prone.

I think this season will unfortunately prove that the new contracts we gave to Martial and Rashford were a mistake. They are supposedly earning the same or even more than the likes of Mane, Firmino, Aubameyang, Kane, Son and a few other top players, yet show nowhere near the same quality. Such a shame, it seems everything is going as bad as possible and I don't see that changing soon.
