Had a wonderful game. Only complaint i have for him is to pass the ball sometimes around the box. He beats like 5 people and takes a shot which usually skies. Instead in one of the attemps he could have let Greenwood in who was free in his right and we'd exteneded the lead. Hope Ole makes him realize that he can't do everything by himself.
Absolutely not. He's on fire at the moment. Just needs to improve his decision making at times.
Didn't he pass the ball to rashford for the 1st goal? yesterday was one of the few times i have seen him being a bit selfish, most of the times he chooses to pass even though he should shoot.
He did but there were few other occasion where passing was a better option. Still not worried much as he did have a brilliant game. These would get corrected in time for him.
He looks really good right now. Great goal and did well for Rashfords goal too.
His first touch was just brilliant, defender just cleared the ball and it was about to go out, he had Southampton defender on him. His first touch was so good that he beat the defender with ease, not sure if it was great touch or lucky one, they didn't show the replay but it was great piece of play.

People have so high standards for this boy, that not even Messi and Ronaldo would be good enough on here. Some of you are a joke to be honest. He was by far, by far, the best player on the pitch yesterday. Take him out, and we don't even draw that game. And some on here complain about a chance missed here or there. Unbelievable. I think you need to watch more football to actually know where to place Martial, because some of you have no clue how good he actually is. And he will become better.
Should have scored the first chance, don't know why he didn't go around the keeper to the right hand side.
I guess it's easy to say in hindsight but he ended up getting too close and chipping him from there was going to be tough.
Anyway, another top performance from Martial. If Firmino had that control, turn and pass to Rashford we'd be hearing about it for weeks.
Such a shame he couldn't find his shot after that run in the 2nd half, or Rashford put away the chance he made after another beautiful run along the channel.

Did we watch the same game? Although he was undoubtably fantastic (great natural #9 play for Rashford’s goal, great play for his goal and he got himself in good positions through out) he still had some faults which he can be criticised for.
If he took more than one of his chances we win that game.
It’s a luxurious that we’re performing so well that we can keep demanding higher standards and not rest on our laurels. Martial is doing well but we can keep expecting improvements at the same time.

Just FYI there isn't a player in the history of the game who converted every chance. People should get a grip and have some realistic expectation. Otherwise we should be expecting tennis or cricket scores in football.

Yeah. On a day that too many of our players had an off-game, he was by far the standout player. Like others have said, if either one of Bruno or Pogba were on it as well, we would have won it but the lack of a midfield in form along with the leftback injuries cost us.
Martial did that last season too under Jose, he scored in 5 consecutive PL games.
Newcastle, Chelsea, Everton, Bournemouth, City.
For that one chance where he beat a few players, No one is passing there after that run. Maybe Messi might but even him I would not be surprised if he didnt.
My Motm. And I think it took a lot of strenght and energy for that Rashford assist. Last game my Motm was Greenwood. Our front 3 looks on fire and we all should embrace their collective energy rather than be in camps. It's starting to get a Cole Yorke vibe to it and I like it.
Another thing. His ability to sneak on back passes and steal balls has become a trend. It began with Club Brugge this season and he did it a few times after that. So credit to him.

That was a big issue in Jose's 1st season. Hopefully it's a once in a while thing.

He has really matured. He plays like he is the most matured of our front line and is actually leading it.

I don't know what Ole has done to him but I've never thought he had this in him. He was putting in tackles, leading the press and shouting at the other attackers when they don't support him in pressing, sprinting more vigorously to get into the box and that beautiful take and assist to Rashford off of Pogba's pass. He looks every bit like a top class #9 at a title winning club.
Playing more beastly. Always had skill and finesse and has shown more power, strength and aggression. Handful

Wouldn't surprise me. He's been churning out world class performances lately, it looks like he's getting a real buzz out of the physical side if the game lately as well.
I know few might come up with Zlatan but IMO he is better than Zlatan was in 2016-17.
Nope. Not even Aguero. I remember getting some stick off of @Art Vandelay for comparing the two but I've always seen similarities in their play and, this season, in his first as a 9, he's actually outperformed Aguero.
Yeah, might be unpopular opinion for few posters who always go with "Proven" thing but I wouldn't swap Martial with any CF in the league, at least if he keeps up this form.
Martial is certainly more exciting in my opinion.
Zlatan was great but at the same time he sapped the life out of all our other forwards, Rashford was better when Zlatan wasn't playing e.g that 2:0 win over Chelsea or the in Europa league late stages when Zlatan got injured, Martial brings more out of Rashford and Greenwood with his ability and willingness to link up creating a more fluid attack
Really hope he keeps this up and gets into the France squad for the Euros.

Zlatan could have had 25 he if didn't miss so many chances. Martial and Rashford could get a couple each in the next 3 and outscore zlatan and Rom.
