He was outstanding. Even aside from the goals, all his one touch stuff was immaculate tonight. Added a real tempo and crispness to our play.

He deserved a couple of assists too. You'd swear he has eyes in the back of his head...he seems to find runs that just seem impossible for him to have seen. His inventiveness and creativity is off the charts.

Work-rate as a good as ever too. Just non-stop drive and commitment.

Yeah he's definitely a #10, but I'd say most comparable would be Rooney. A second striker, just with a shade more leaning towards midfielding/creating whereas Rooney was a shade more of a forward/scorer. Easily the most similar comparison in terms of impact, overall play style (and the same consistency) and position they tend to play.
yeah I’d agree with that. Both fantastic players.

That was an incredible performance from him today in the David Moyes derby. Clinical finishing and great incisive passing. Easily within the best few games I’ve seen him play.

He somehow cost the same as Fred  what a steal.

For those worrying about him wanting to leave in a year if we don’t win anything, I’m not so sure. United has been his dream and he’s been happy treading water elsewhere for the majority of his career, it would take a massive dive from us to see him push to leave.

He's gonna get fed up of pressing (hope not) because he presses at times and then looks around and you see a team mate just jogging to close down the only option to pass it out, and giving the player time to turn and get his head up

It's frustrating as a fan so I can only imagine how he feels at times

What a player, he drops deep to distribute, makes the run behind the last defender. He is just everywhere.

He should have had couple of assists too. Hopefully he won't play in the second leg.

He’s not alone in that aspect? You make it sound like he presses on his own and no one else does. We just don’t press well as a team. It’s like we want to let them out.

Oh I definitely meant as a team. There were occasions when he lead the press and another player or two would do the same, but one would let them down. When they all pressed together at once it lead to the keeper hurriedly clearing in a panic.

I think we still need to work on our press as a team and to cut off short and medium avenues and passes to make opposition go long.

I agree...I’m not sure Ole does.

Does anyone think he will get pissed off in a year or so if we fail to challenge or win anything ? He is carrying us since he joined and his winning mentality is that of a player under SAF. You can see he is desperate for trophies
Whether he stays or goes, it's important to have a number of such players performing at the same time otherwise you have to keep moving from one talisman to another without the successful team to go alongwith it. Right now, this is no different from DDG who was wasted with ridiculous performances is a team that didn't reach our required level. If we dont capitalise, like DDG eventually I can see his level dropping even if he doesnt leave.

Btw, i loved how for his first goal he just stopped his run and let the 3 Sociedad players all run into each other and take each other out. It was like something from a road runner cartoon

Red Card for Casemiro!
We have a genuine world class player in our side, seemingly at the peak of his powers. This is the time to strengthen the side around him - the club needs to spend big this summer to add more quality and help us truly challenge for silverware. At this rate, I hope we manage to hold on to Pogba for next season even if it means he leaves on a free the next summer.

Bruno's post-match was telling - he said he'd rather not score a goal for the rest of the season if it means we win something at the end of it - he is not going to stay around if we don't match his ambitions. It is important that we avoid abother DDG situation where a WC player wastes away his peak years and we don't have anything to show for it as a club.

His postmatch interviews is great to watch because you can see his eager to win trophies. He will not settle for top 4 every season that’s for sure. I really hope we continue the rebuild in the summer otherwise players like Pogba, Bruno and Cavani might look elsewhere.

We need to surround him with players of equal quality or I can see him becoming disillusioned if we carry on being so stop-start.

Two goals again last night, I keep thinking his goals must dry up as he’s a midfielder but he keeps banging them in has a hint of the Ronaldo about him in that respect..

What a player, love the guy!

I can't believe some of our fans cannot see how good he is.

He is amazing, everytime he gets the ball in the opponents half, I expect something to happen, his ability is brilliant.

Teams are scared to give him any sort of space outside the box too because he will more often than not hit the target. He has also become alot less selfish outside the box where he looks for the pass.

That goal he scored where he dummied the ball the finish of that was better than the one on his left recently. The technical ability in that to get spin on it and hit it when it’s behind him.

I wouldn't trade him for any player in the world or sell him. It's one thing to find a quality player, but another thing to find a quality player with top mentality and fits United to a tee. We have tried and failed spectacularly.

Totally agreed. Untransferable. Period.
