What makes you think I hate Hamilton? I'm a Verstappen fan obviously, but I don't hate Hamilton at all. I think he's a fantastic driver, one of the best ever. I don't however think he's some kind of saint who can do no wrong like many on here seem to do. And I don't see why me thinking Hamilton wasn't DOTD (which is in line with the results of the poll btw) makes you think I hate him? Bit weird that

I didn't say he hadn't been unfortunate too, in the context of what I said, he absolutely has been fortunate. Hamilton could have been out of sight
Max could have been out of sight.

To call Max fortunate in any regard when he's had at least 42 points robbed from him in just Baku and Hungary, not even counting Silverstone, is absurd.

Fair play. I’ve just seen a lot of negative posts from you about him since silverstone. I’ve obviously read your support of Max as dislike of Lewis. Apologies

Every time I watch a race there is a red flag

I’ve watched about 3 races in the last 2-3 years and weirdly they’ve all ended up getting stopped.

Jesus fecking Christ, Bottas is an fecking massive donkey. What an cnut. Unlucky again for Max. Considering everything that happened today it's still all to play for.

You Lewis supporters bitching because he was getting booed by Max fans, hilarious. He's a rival, of course they are going to boo him. It's a fecking sport. You cheer you fav, hate your rival.

Break will be good for RB. Take some time off and regroup. Spa will be a great race.

Lewis Hamilton had to be attended to by a Mercedes team doctor following the Hungarian GP as he suffered with fatigue and mild dizziness.

Hamilton endured a chaotic afternoon in Budapest on Sunday, storming through from the back to third place - involved in intense wheel-to-wheel battles with other drivers throughout the race.

Afterwards, he was visibly exhausted on the podium, unable to join in the celebrations for Esteban Ocon's first win.

Mercedes confirmed Hamilton's symptoms after he missed much of his post-race media and the start of the press conference:

The seven-time world champion then revealed his struggles.

"I'm OK, yeah," he said after joining the press conference. "I had real dizziness and then got a bit blurry on the podium."
Long covid maybe...

No worries, I can see where you're coming from as I have been hard on Hamilton at times for sure (usually when emotions run high and I'll admit the bad luck Max has had this season hasn't helped ) but I don't hate him at all. I'm not sure I like him either (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't) but he's a fantastic driver no doubt about it. Apart from the Lewis/Merc brain fart today with the intermediates which was probably 50/50 between him and the team, he had a good race. I just think Ocon was faultless really and Alonso did brilliantly to keep Lewis behind him as long as he did so that's why I have Lewis as #3 DOTD-wise today.

I have normally found your posts pretty balanced, just like the match day thread, posts get posted in the heat, its understandable.
I am a Lewis fan, but I dont dislike Max, today was harsh on him and did feel for him.
All drivers need good luck, has Lewis had more than his fair share, maybe yes, where has Max has been pretty unlucky this season in a few races.
Ocon today did excellent, Lewis for me was DOTD, dead last to 3rd is a formidable drive.

Interesting comments in Hammys interview after racing. Like many of us noticed he looked shattered after the race. Sounds like since he had covid struggling for stamina.

Hamilton looked like he was about to collapse on the podium, interesting to hear he's been struggling all year and may have long Covid.

Really hope Vettel doesn't lose his second place

That would be shite to have that taken away on a technicality, yeah. The Aston crew looked almost as made up with their second place finish as the Alpine lot did with their win.

There are certainly arguments for Ocon, Alonso and Hamilton for DOTD today. I think ocon probably edges it just because it’s his first win and he did well to keep Vettel behind. Same with Alonso, keeping Hamilton behind him prevented him winning the race IMO. I think the track helps both of their races though whereas it hinders what Hamilton was trying to achieve, so as @pauldyson1uk says, from dead last to third, on that track, that’s some drive.

Would’ve been really interesting to see if Max fell to where he did but didn’t sustain the damage.. max attempting to go through the field on that track would’ve been great to see

My DOTD was alonso. Keeping lewis behind him for 8 laps with a masterclass in defensive driving. Alonso also just said in an interview that lewis should have passed him sooner such was the pace difference of the tyres but that lewis was making the same small mistakes on the final two corners of the lap. Once he figured that out he got past alonso and used the same lines in the final 2 corners to get past Sainz.

Would be amazing if somehow Alpine could give Alonso a car that could challenge for a WDC. Alonso v Verstappen v Hamilton would be fireworks.

Was overall disappointed in Vettel. I would expect a four times WC in this situation to find a way to put Ocon under more pressure and make him make a mistake. Maybe the AM is an inferior car to the Alpine, i dont know but i expected more from him.

not sure that’s right really, alonso just did a great job but then locked up in turn 1 and ruined his momentum.

his tyres were fresher than sainz, it was a much easier over take. Alonso pitted at a similar time hence how he was catching sainz quickly too.

I don’t remember seeing any positional errors by hamilton, Alonso was just shutting the door very aggressively.

I didnt think Hamilton made mistakes in the final two corners, but its what alonso has been quoted as saying. Yes alonso made a mistake locking up, but i think alonso was trying to say that when hamilton finally got the last two corners hooked up in a way that got him closer to alonso, alonso had to defend more and therefore locked up his front tyre in doing so. Max did something similar to Danny Ric a few laps earlier.

Heres the alonso quote..

“Honestly, I think that Lewis was making small mistakes in the last two corners because he had so much pace. You cannot take eight laps to pass with that pace advantage. In fact, after changing a few lines, he could pass Carlos immediately one lap after. It was not difficult to pass, in my opinion, but he took four or five laps to figure it out, but that’s my opinion.”

I think Alonso is being pretty modest but Rosberg was saying it in commentary too in fairness. Although Hamilton would have passed first attempt if Kimi didn’t appear from the pit lane! Ultimately that’s what cost Hamilton the win.

Probably more to do with the fact that Hamilton and his (English) fans were called classless and arrogant for celebrating at Silverstone. I think it’s considered pretty classless to boo someone all week when he’s getting interviewed. Especially after a really hard, fun race.

That’s super crappy if true. But the rules are the rules, however much it’s gutting and stupid. Super sad for him he has been a class act out of the car this year

I also think the booing is lame, but just to add that, for Verstappen fans, this wasn't a hard, fun race. It was a disappointing race in which their guy was crashed out of serious contention right at the start because of a mistake by a driver from their main competitor's team.

She suffers now, since December, me not so much.
The summer break has come at the right time I think for F1 in general, let things settle dowm.
Pot luck by the sounds of it. As to who gets long term symptons.

Defo good time for a break!

gutted for him , but rules are rules.
Very stupid many of those rules. Bottas got what 5 grid pen? Joke of a sport thanks to rules.. Is there any other sport that has changed their rules as often as F1 has?

Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!
So lucky.
I do wonder whether I notice the lucky breaks Hamilton gets more than other drivers because he is so good.

For example, at Imola, the red flag situation certainly did benefit Hamilton. Almost as soon as the race was red flagged, I knew he was going to get a podium at least.

With other drivers that simply are not as good (a very high bar I know), they cannot make as much of those fortunate occurrences as Hamilton inevitably does. Does that make any sense?
