You and Edgar/Alto had the same point total but you had greater GD and won the head-to-head matchups but the game still gave Edgar the trophy

Who cares about those no-marks… I just let Bryan Fecking Robson go on a free?! Who the feck is my manager, Moyes?!

In lesser news, I also let go RvN and Pirlo. And Rene var de Kerkhof and Piet Keizer (Cruyff-lite) on frees… :(
Yeah, many teams are leaking out their legends.
Tomorrow will be my last day of updates as I wrap up this experiment. Too many regens now and other sides are creeping on our Redcafe domination.

Do I have a striker at this point? @oneniltothearsenal

I’m pretty sure that Erico and Scarone played as strikers for me, one had been released, the other one retired. Bobrov had left ages ago.

All of those transfers only to still have a -9 GD :(

I'm hoping Förster/Sol Campbell and Vidic can form a beastly partnership together.

Which clown is in charge here? Even Monti and Nasazzi have been let go. This is the worst transfer window since Barcelona bought Chygrynskiy, Keirrison and Ibra, whilst selling Eto'o. :mad:
You had interim manager I believe, you almost lost Matthaus too but he turned down a contract from Dortmund

this isn't 100% accurate, Garrincha still starts over Savicevic and Neymar usually starts on the left for him

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Great, do I get the old UEFA trophy? Always liked that one.
S11 Final league Standings and Stats

we crown our second two-time league winner!

@Edgar Allan Pillow @altodevil @ADJUDICATOR @BeforeKeanetherewasRobson @P-Nut @antohan @Macern

With a worse goal difference :lol::lol:
Wait, what? Can we have B4Keane's lineup @oneniltothearsenal ? Wonder how he fits Garrincha, Laudrup, Savicevic, Zidane and Totti in the same team :eek:
The team is shown in the Europa Cup final screenshot but be interesting to see formation and whether Laudrup, Totti and ZZ are fighting each other. 4141?

No wonder we could bin off Keizer, Ruud, etc. They couldnt make the first eleven?

But he had all of them playing at the same time in that Europa Final screenshot!
I have no clue :lol: I can't see the lineups for that since I didn't watch the game itself

@antohan makes the Europa againand @harms and @spontaneus1 don't look like they'll have a good season
Is this an insight from the #13 already? Because I'm actually relatively happy with my position as well as with butchering poor @Macern 's team.

edit: of, you've just posted the #13th! As I said, all we needed was some fresh blood — Puyol, Ferrara, Xabi & Zola :drool:
And Maurício, of course, a teen (I assume?) regen with the face of a 40 years old alcoholic.

The Straw Hat Football and Piracy club started climbing to one of the top sides and won the league back in 2019/20 but quickly fell from grace despite Luis Suarez Miramontes being consistent great and having my favorite CB pairing in the experiment Not sure why they didn't do better tbh

@Macern also started on an upward climb but could not win any trophies. Bizarrely his side went into administration (only one actually) and then dropped off the face of cliff. Boniek and Maldini were his stalwarts but losing them left a massive gap in quality never to be replaced.

@mazhar13
A constant seesaw ride for Maz. He'd look like he was going to do well then drop back down. For a side that started with Platini and Der Bomber with the Santos fullbacks and Dasaev in goal, I thought they could win at least one trophy but no luck this experiment.

@Moby @Raees
Really sad this was one of the consistently lowest performing sides. With Zico and Falcao I wanted this side to win something but their defense let them down and they leaked goals.

@NM
What can I say about NM? They are the Arsenal of the experiment. Runners up to the league 3 times and in the Champions League twice. Their only trophy is a single Europa League. They also have the distinction of defeating a Skizzonito side in their prime being outshot 38 shots to 7. This side sported Fenomeno and often played like early 2000s Inter

@spontaneus1
Another of the big disappointments. With Maradona this side could have expected to win at least one league. But they were mired in mediocre (for legend standards) play and Diego could never carry them to victory.

@2mufc0
Struggling midtable for most of the experiment, they should to the top of the league behind B4Keane right at the end. Over the course of the experiment Van Basten scored a ton of goals (no player could top more than a 1 in 2 for career btw) and you have to love 150 appearances for Bum--Kun Cha.

@Šjor Bepo
A side that had a minor resurgence in the middle of the experiment that held promise only to fizzle out to no trophies. He does look to hold a more solid league position at the end but that's mostly due to other sides degenerating rather than Sjor doing great.

@Skizzo @Joga Bonito
A side with a Champions League and a League win cannot be considered a failure but this side was like a roller coaster throughout the experiment looking great some seasons and piss poor others. Losing Beckenbauer didn't seem to be a blow but Valentino and Nandor fading was the death knell for this side.

@ADJUDICATOR
Punt with Poise FC were never poor and seemed to be in the European slots contention almost every season. Henry was outstanding for them but their only trophy was a Europa League. Sandro Mazzola and Kubala also combined excellent for them and when in sync they could beat any side (although not consistently enough for a league or CL win)

@harms
Bikini Bottom FClook promising early on but then fell to the bottom of the table. The side looked primed for early success with Di Stefano, Zizinho, Erico and Hector Scarone plus Stanley Matthews but they seemed to have missed their window and didn't have enough younger players to recover.

@Igor Drefljak
Igor stole Beckenbauer and won the league with the highest point total ever. They bought Messi only to sell him to Barcelona without him making a difference and then fell down the table. At one point, they were the all-time table leader but that accomplished faded at the end. They still have that one season to brag about however

@Gio
Gio's finishes look like shark's teeth, up and down without the consistency you'd expect. They look poised to dominate early on with a CL and league win but the side led by the brilliance of Eusebio and Matthaus didn't have more in them. Brian Laudrup gets a mention for being one of the strongest late round draft picks and a brilliant player for this side that perhaps should have won more.

@antohan
The Dream Team had a lot of pissed off screaming from the owner's box, first at Cruyff then for the lack of Cruyff. He did win the Champions League and the League once a apiece so clearly not a failure but this side never played the football their owner wanted. Fritz Walter, Figo and Simonsen were their consistent stars and Rijkaard usually looked solid in midfield although perhaps not quite as good as Matthaus for gio. Romario was their best striker though not Spencer

Simon'sside were near the top the entire experiment and one of the most consistently great sides. However they only have a single Champions League and a single Europa League with no league title. Charlton and Masopust were consistent for them all the way through even into their mid-30s but Leonidas underperformed and while he had some strong statistical performances, Weah might not have been good enough for this side to win a league or two.

@P-Nut
Basement dwellers for years, they benefitted from a rise in form and eventually won a Champions League. However, considering they had a front end sugar daddy for three years (who demoted himself to backend after) they perhaps could be said to have underperformed. Sammer and Keane were brilliant signings for them but it could be said Redondo and Baggio failed to live up to their expectations.

And now for the 3 best-performing sides....................

@BeforeKeanetherewasRobson
Also had a front end sugar daddy for two seasons (before he demoted himself by AI haha) who seemed to make no difference. But several years later a revolution happened and the Melchester Rovers finished the experiment winning more leagues than any other side plus 3 of the last 4. It looks like the start of a dynasty only to be challenged by the two sides yet to be mentioned. Zidane, Garrincha, and Keizer were all great performers but it was Michael Laudrup who truly pulled this side up to monumental status. Ronald Koeman also deserves a mention as one of the biggest difference makers at CB - ball-playing CBs!

@Edgar Allan Pillow @altodevil
Probably my favorite side. Cruyff-Kalle-Stoichkov-Shevchenko played the entire experiment for them (and were even "player-managed" by Cruyff at one point) and this side had the most enjoyable attack in the matches I watched. 2 Europa Leagues, 2 Champions Leagues and 1 League title might seem meagher for this side but they were always in the mix and no side looked consistently better throughout. Shevchenko I believe is the only player to score better than 1 in 2 in the experiment and that's thanks for Cruyff and Kalle and Stoichkov.

@RedTiger @Enigma_87
3 Champions Leagues, 3 Redcafe Leauges, 2 Europa Leagues, they are the trophy kings of the experiment! Despite Riquelme and Lampard bizarrely being their highest-rated players in history, it was really the true GOAT, Pele, who led this team to victory. Pele got them key goals and assists and Dzajic also deserves mention since we figured out the creator of this database absolutely LOVES his Eastern European players (and rated them higher in the database than any of us expected). This side perhaps doesn't look as strong as a few others on paper but they played spectacular as a team and who knew Andreas Moller could be a difference maker!
