Has he looked as clueless for Leicester as he has been for us this season so far though? How often was he making those types of mistakes? He's been doing similar mistakes at Leicester aswell

Sounds familiarThanks for the memories, but that is a great bit of business by the club.
Pays for other signings, and frankly, he's over rated, not anywhere near the same class is van dijk.
Time and again last season he was out of position or had no awareness of opposition players getting behind him in or around the box, and would put his hand up for an offside.
Being able to dribble forward with the ball was exciting to watch, but you still need to be able to do the basics of defending.
Agreed, good balanced post. He’s been off it this season, he’s not a terrible player like some will now claim, he’s also been a rock for us for long periods.
The same way Shaw has been poor this season, doesn’t mean he can’t recapture form.
But Maguire being so off it this season has really cost us in games. Looks half the player he was for large periods of last season.
I doubt that Ole will strip him of the captaincy. I'd be surprised if the next manager retains him as captain though. I'd imagine that Ronaldo will get it.Was never my choice for captain but I don't know how important that is now and don't see the benefit in stripping him.
He does need to be dropped for a few games though to get his head right, too many players in the squad don't have to fight for their place, it shows.
I don't think Ronnie should be captain as much as I love love him. He isn't going to be here long term.I doubt that Ole will strip him of the captaincy. I'd be surprised if the next manager retains him as captain though. I'd imagine that Ronaldo will get it.
If he wasn't English she would be seen as the third choice CBHe gets given too much leeway in the media considering he’s the marquee signing of what’s been a shambolic defence the last couple of seasons. If we get a new manager I hope he’s one of the first to be upgraded, sick of the excuses for him.
I doubt we’d have even bought him to be honest, definitely not at that price. If he wasn't English she would be seen as the third choice CB
Maguire has been awful entire season. Injuries are just an excuse.Im a fan of Maguire, been a solid signing albeit overpriced.
However it is clear the guy isnt fit, neither is Shaw.
They been awful last 3 games.
Agree. He's been horrible so far and should be benched. However he was good for most parts last season. Last season started badly, but then we had a long stretch of 30+ matches where the defence was very solid and Maguire was one of the reasons. He’s been off it this season, he’s not a terrible player like some will now claim, he’s also been a rock for us for long periods.

Yeah Ole has rushed him back in after the knock he had as well, I had a couple of chats about this at the time with other posters, the balance of whether to play Maguire or let him rest, he was NOWHERE near fit for the Leicester game and it was a bit of an embarrassment of a performance, looks like it's really knocked his confidence.Agree. He has a higher ceiling than Lindelof, but no player should be undroppable. Varane and Lindelof have looked the best pair so far and should continue when Varane is back. (We all know it will not happen)
He was solid only in the second half of last season (same for the season before that). He was average at best the first half.He was shit alright, but lets not go overboard here
He was one of the best players at the Euros and was solid pretty much all of last season.
Hes been terrible alright, but so have Shaw, and he was probably our best player last season. He was solid only in the second half of last season (same for the season before that). He was average at best the first half.
Granted, he was great in Euros.
Yep, his confidence looks shot and he needs a break- flipside, is that is going to mean a Bailly/Lindelof central defence with Varane out a few weeks. I guess we'd struggle to look any shitter at the back than we did yesterday though.Yeah Ole has rushed him back in after the knock he had as well, I had a couple of chats about this at the time with other posters, the balance of whether to play Maguire or let him rest, he was NOWHERE near fit for the Leicester game and it was a bit of an embarrassment of a performance, looks like it's really knocked his confidence.
I'd go with Varane and Lindelof as well, give Harry a prolonged rest, ease him back in when he looks 100% ready in training.
Dwight Schrute was excellent salesman. He is the Dwight Schrute to Ole's Michael Scott.
It makes complete sense that Ole would make someone like him captain.
Oh yeah, I totally agree that there is a deeper issue here. However, he has really been terrible besides that. Likely, the worst player in the league this season.Hes been terrible alright, but so have Shaw, and he was probably our best player last season.
These problems go well beyond any single individual player. If one player plays like shit, its a player issue, but when the whole defense looks like a bunch of mugs its something else
And both were in uefa team of the tournament. What happened to them!Him and Shaw were shocking yesterday, absolutely atrocious
Burnt out? Has to be something in the fact that they both players played the euros and hardly had a break. Yet people want to add more footballAnd both were in uefa team of the tournament. What happened to them!
Spot on. The one where he and Shaw don't commit to it...I can give Shaw some shit for it absolutely, but I expect the captain to take the risk and clear it up.Harry's lack of awareness is really horrifying at times.
Once again, we had the comedy bump into your own player. Only this time Bailly was around to get the blame for it. Its worse than that though. He often has no idea where opposition players are. So often you see him move towards the opponent closest to him when the ball is out wide, with no real sense what's happening behind him. He's not the only one who does this, its why we have a frightening number of crosses played along our six yard box. However, as the senior player and captain, you'd expect more for him.
He has no grip on the situation at all. None.
He's basically like a much less talented version of Jones, who hasn't had the misfortune of being made of glass.Harry's lack of awareness is really horrifying at times.
