He's too arrogant in relation to his skillset to change how he plays, even if it's incredibly obvious that it's necessary in a game like today. You aren't going to roll it around 3 players that are hounding you every time you get the ball, just lay it off and move.

Really poor today. That’s two games in a row where we hurt the opposition after he’s taken off.

Was poor today and dwelled on the ball a lot. Improved in the second half and started spraying passes around before being substituted which i thought was bit unlucky considering some other players were much worse. Is lacking fitness and it is showing. He looks proper gassed by 60 min

Eh? He only attempted only 10 passes with 60% accuracy in the second half. So just 6 accurate passes and 4 inaccurate ones.

His first half was better, whilst still being quite poor.

Bad day at the office ... I think he got carried away with what he managed to do at Elland road, thinking he'd get to Madrid and show people up.

He had one super pass to Bruno from right side to left side in second half. That was probably the best pass we played in the entire game. If he wasnt gassed out, he would have had more as there was more space in second half. But overall quite poor.

United fans come up with so many excuses for this guy. He's not a good player.
His attitude wouldn't be tolerated at City and Liverpool. We seem to embrace people like Pogba at United.

People keep fawning over his technical ability but his defensive positioning is suspect and he doesnt have consistent attacking output.

Pogba is like one of those overpriced Godiva chocolate boxes you don't mind receiving as a gift but would never buy for yourself.

Woeful along with Rashford. He looked like he was playing on the beach off the ball at times.
we need consistent players in the middle of the park.
Matic came on and held his position, took the ball off the centre backs and got us playing a bit.
I will rejoice if we replace pogba with two solid and consistent midfielders.

He's disgustingly lazy. He'll be better at a one club league like France and United will be better without him. It's a divorce that needs to happen for everyone's betterment.

So many of these criticisms can be laid at Bruno’s door tonight too, what a strange fanbase we have. Always so much traction after he plays in a bad result.

I've been camped in the Bruno thread all evening and he's been getting just as much criticism.

I like Pogba but he shat the bed with that performance, especially with the narrative around him turning positive. Like Bruno he wasted all the recent built up goodwill with a shocker in our biggest game yet.

Didn't show up again when needed. He had a stinker. Let's finish this chapter and wish him well with his next adventure.

You'd think he'd have learnt by now to just play it simple - 1/2 touches and keep the ball moving, not to dawdle on it and try to dribble when being pressed by multiple players.

Nope, still doing it.

Basically summed up in this game where one moment he lungs a beautiful ball to Bruno and then the next is being lazy and dispossessed in our own half.

Pogba and bruno looked bad today because the one who does the dirty work in defensive midfield has not played today and combine that with lindelof at RB, literally there was no link play in the midfield area.

For second leg, pogba should either play in Rashford place or in 3 man midfield with scott as DM.

Bored of him, his same old faults and the same old arguments around him. I hope he bores off at the end of the season so he can be found out somewhere else.

His passing accuracy - even if bad - wasn't the key issue with his performance today.

This sums it up. It's not just that he kept losing the ball when passing (which he did), it's that he kept losing the ball before passing.

Really no idea what about his horrendous and costly losses of possession in our half over the years has continued to give him the idea that he has time or space to operate against decent opposition. Surely he watches tape of his performances? Must release the ball faster.

You’d think he’d be up for a CL night… biggest stage out there but looked stuck in neutral most of the game.
As talented as he is I’d prefer we let him go this summer

Would not be paying him 400k a week or whatever he wants, has got a big opportunity to prove himself in the second leg but I think that will go a begging as well..

Whilst I'd say he's certainly prone to nights like this it seems weird to jump all over it when it's his first bad game since coming back from injury.

The same is happening in the Sancho thread despite him finally finding some form there are people going on like this is their normal performance.

It was a bad night all-round and we managed to escape with a draw. Move on and expect better next time

Never seen anyone go from absolutely brilliant to godawful in the space of a few days as consistently as him. One of the weirdest, most bewildering players ever.

As crap as Pogba was, the team improved because Matic went into Fred’s position, not necessarily because Pogba went off.

This belongs in Fred’s performance thread but it’s difficult to overstate just how much of our slow, lethargic, and confused buildup was because Fred played the 6 so so poorly.

Thought it was one of those Pogba's shit games but you are right that we played without a proper cm/dm who can tackle in the deep areas which made the whole thing look worse.

Say whatever people want about Tommy. He could have done more to support the team in deeper area.

He looked like he was offended he had to play above the first two gears. He was missing the 'physicality' that Ralf demands.

You have to be both emotionally and physically present in a game like this and Pogba wasn't

What I found annoying from Pogba is how far he was from the ball when we desperately needed a pass forward and how little effort he made to make himself available when he was tightly marked

Fred often has an opportunity to start ball progression, but because there is a defender in his vicinity, he ends up passing it back to a fullback or a winger that is forced to go back. If he was calmer and looked around more, he would spot those passes.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

It was a combination of both. Matic going into the #6 was better than Fred had been, but Fred moving further forward also gave us the drive, fight and movement that were sadly missing from Pogba.

The number of times he lost possession in the first half was shocking. I wonder what goes through these players during games like this. “oh I am constantly losing possession, maybe I should play a few safe passes and let the team breathe? Nah let me try to dribble past 10 players who are coming at me”.

This actually sums up both Pogba and Rashford yesterday. I guess Pogba was at least showing up from time to time, even though it seemed half hearted.

I don't think the ball he mainly lost where because he was trying to dribble. He just couldn't escape Kondogbia's press who anticipated everything ahead. The difference in sharpness between the two made him look ridiculous in that first half.
However you have a point, between playing it back safely and trying to get past an intense press, he will try the difficult option

Not to defend Pogba, but AM yesterday did one thing well, which was cutting us off centrally, by a combo of Kondogbia, Herrera & Correa, and it felt like they anticipated passes and loose balls better especially in that 1st half, we were lucky not to concede many chances/shots on goal.

On Pogba though, a game to forget, he had a solid consistency since his return but today he was not as good.

Not trying to scapegoat him.. we have bigger issues than him but we see this all the time.
He comes back from injury, produces ‘moments’ in games and a load of people go on about how great he is etc.. but when you look at it, Paul Pogba doesn’t actually make United get better results. And when we have big games like this he goes missing, all the time….
You’d think by the 987th time this happened, people would clock on.

It was fecking obvious that Simeone had a clear plan how to play last night, aggressive on Bruno, Pogba and Shaw, leave the ball to Lindelof and Fred, and we create feck all. Now Pogba needs to realize along with the manager and be smart, not play like a kid trying to prove everybody wrong. That was bad and stupid.

Very true, what annoys me about it is the fact that at no point you saw him trying to adapt or increase his intensity.

Poor overall but then again so was everyone and we managed to steal a draw. On to the next one.
