RHYTHM IS A DANCER!

This lad's attitude is an example to the entire shit show of a squad.

Well pleased for him, just on hunger and enjoyment alone he deserves to be starting over Rashford.

Called for his arrival a while back before his first goal when I could see Rashford had checked out and it remains the case.

I did read somewhere this morning saying that Elanga worked on his physic and jumping this summer. He apparently also inherits from his father for the athletics.
I think he got bigger after his injury in the academy. Then suddenly he started being more clinicalin front of the goal.

Superb run and really made Bruno's mind up for him.

Not as technically gifted as our other wingers but he's as effective through effort.
Depending on what types of techniques, isn’t it?
His close control is not as good as Martial, Greenwood can shoot with both feet almost equally well, his peak pace and acceleration are probably a little bit worse than Rashford, his aerial threat in front of goal is yet not as good as Renaldo.
But what he has gradually demonstrated in the adult football games, he has the whole package! He is very technically gifted.

Great cameo. Seems to have the right attitude. But the thing that worries me, he is another player that seems to lack that top level technical ability. Obviously didn’t watch any youth football, so maybe I’m wrong. His decision making though is miles ahead of Rashford right now.

Hopefully he will play a valuable role in our season.

I've watched elanga in the 18's then 23's he improved greatly in the last 18months, he has scored some super technical goals...with confidence and a run in the team he will hopefully show his class in the first team too.

I guess that sideline for a while actually gives one an opportunity to observe, think, absorb, and reflect. He is like a glider in the youth football games, now he has started to show it in the highest level. So pleased for him.

Obviously I like the kid but not sure he is even that good, he is just showing a proper attitude.

Think he has got physically stronger, so can compete in these type of games now. Is he looking brilliant? No he isn't, but he has a will to try hard, to better himself, and to learn from every minute he plays.

One thing I'll say about the boy is he's looking more and more confident every game.

His reaction and facial expression when he scored is not one of surprise but he looked like he expected to score. Coming on in a UCL knockout tie and being ice cool in front of goal is not an easy thing.

Just to add, he presses like a maniac, no wonder Ralf loves him. The amount of times he forced their lb to boot the ball up was insane. Another underrated aspect of his game.

Yah. I was pleasantly surprised the jump he suddenly made. Until then I always thought of him as a speed merchant only.

I think we said exactly the same thing about Marcus a few years back when he first started his journey.

I honestly don't see even premier league level potential in him (let alone anything close to United level, 0 chance of that if we're being honest). He's just kind of there and passes it back every time but doesn't have any stand out quality. He's not even that fast really.

For people saying he works hard... It's not like it's a stand out level of hard work? At least Dan James had the pace and endless work. Not to hate on a young guy too much but elanga really offers pretty much 0 to our game IMO. But we don't exactly have any other options other than him as rotation... So i guess he'll get a lot of time.
Interesting how a player without "premier league potential" keeps deciding games for us at the big stage. The kid also tops the pressing charts and wins a lot of duels.

Garbage post.

btw, Dan James rarely scored deciding goals and was light weight.

My wit's end
He's not doing anything that Rashford can't do. But the fact is, Elanga's actually doing it. And deserves to start as a result.

He's the only player in the team currently playing at more than 70% of his potential. There's an attitude or a cultural problem at United.

Rangnick should shithouse the rest of the squad at the next training session and make them all watch videos of Elanga's game to show them how it's done.

Well Marcus has regressed since then. Whether it's a contribution of injuries/No. of games played at such a young age or whatever. Marcus at 20 was also a special player. In fact I'd argue that Marcus at 20/21 is twice the player that he is now at 24.

Elanga may well go on to end up not being good enough for us. But you and I both can't see into the future, we'll see, but he's showing good signs.

Elanga is showing exactly the same skill set that Rashford showed when he burst into the first team. But the way people are judging him here is completely different.

Its very early days, so lets not get carried away e.g Williams recently.

Ragnick was right though, ELanga could almost serve as a role model to many. He is puttign the effort in, workign hard. Also showign courage to make the right runs in behind, run with the ball and looks like he is enjoyign it.

Nothing miraculous or special in that really in all hnoesty. That is no criticism of him, he has done very well so far, its more a criticism of many around him who look scared, not enjoying themselves in the pirvelidged position they are in and showig nno courage or fearlessness tomake runs in behin, all playing it too safe bar Fernandes who is trying too much too often

I think he has better close control, but Rashford was more of a direct threat with his kick and run dribbling style. Both are similar in terms of movement but Rashford at 20 was overall a more dangerous player imo.

Personally, I prefer players with better control of the football while dribbling which is why I prefer Elanga, Rashford blew up at a time that was really bleak for United fans and didn't have much to look forward to or players to compete with, I think if Elanga was playing often for a team far away from the top 4 race and in the Europa league he'd be regarded more highly.

working hard and being brave, that’s all we’ve ever asked.

The kid is really stepping up when it matters, what a huge goal for him today.

His record is pretty decent so far isn’t it? he’s got a great nac of scoring goals.

He did well when he came on and did well vs Leeds too. We'll see how he turns out, the past couple of games have been far better than the games before than where he was doing nothing and why I criticized him.

Generally I'm not sure what sort of potential he has, my gut instinct from seeing what traits he has is "meh", but he's had some good moments recently and hopefully that continues. Would love for him to turn into a good player and it's always great to see a young kid have moments like that.

Elanga might not have shown in first team yet but he is very direct as well. Yes i agree Elanga would have probably same goal return if we were in Europa league and people would have appreciated more but its quite funny how everyone suddenly become technique expert and have decided he is not at that level.

Very happy for him. Hope he grows in confidence. He’s a much better player than he’s showing. But he’s young and there are levels to this.

They are similar in aspect of pace and acceleration. But, from a technical point of view, Elanga is a more complete package technically, dribbling, close control, aerial threat, for instance. Rashford is more direct but lack of close control is why he has so many turnover of balls while dribbling. Given space, Rashford is unplayable, but Elanga will offer more considering his more complete skill set. The key question is if he can demonstrate those in the highest level and does it consistently. The football mind and intelligence is something we have to judge over longer period. He is not a finished package and will take time developing and evolving. No one is sure of what he becomes eventually but he has a really good start over his first two months.

Marcus is playing like there is something weighing him down. Hopefully, it's only a temporary dip.

At any rate, I blame Lense -- wtf has he been doing every day? Lazy cnut.

Not 100% sold on the technical side of his game, but that's just from not having seen enough of him to make a judgement either way, apart from him not being an obvious standout in that regard like Amad/Greenwood/Gomes were.

What is clear is that he absolutely has the right mentality. It was glorious to see what he did in the Leeds game when plenty of young players would have wilted, and again today on the biggest stage he's seen.

Nope not yet. 3 this season all away and his first goal on last day of season away to wolves

Saving it for 2nd leg
