How much trouble are Liverpool in?

The way Salah has been playing so far this season, they've essentially lost him and Mané in the same summer. That's hard to compensate for. The midfield will fix itself once the better players are ready but if Salah doesn't rediscover his level, they could finish third in their Champions League group and outside the top four in the Premier League. At the moment, the entire attacking burden is on Diaz.

Hoping they crash and burn - mid table mediocrity and ignominy of being the only team Forest do the double over. Surely not to much to ask from the footballing gods (Cloughy)

But, but, they'll be awesome again soon they said. Diaz is a Wish version of Mane.

Not that I give a damn about any dipper players I'm enjoying them getting humbled week in week out but Diaz is actually a good player. Its harsh to pick him out he's currently their best player by far.

Be interested to hear from all the football geniuses who tried to tell me this thread was embarrassing after Liverpool put 9 past one of the shittest PL teams of the last few decades…

Call them out! But, I won't leave this opportunity to rib you on your Haaland and Nunez take. Haven't seen you in Haaland thread for weeks, wonder what happened :wenger:

What happened is he starting scoring a shitload of goals and unlike many in here I have absolutely zero interest in joining in a frenzied circle jerk over an arse faced Manchester City striker. If that floats your boat, don’t let me stop you. Crack on. This thread is for discussing Liverpool’s woes. An infinitely more enjoyable pursuit.

Amazed that Golden Boot winners Salah and Son have yet to score a goal

You don't become a bad side overnight and just because of the loss of one player.

Some of Klopp's decision making can be questioned perhaps (Milner is ready to be put out to pasture yet was made captain last night and cost the team a goal inside the first 10 minutes) but generally they just need a spark.

Players will dip in and out of form - this is arguably Salah's worst spell in a Liverpool shirt but again is he a bad player now? Of course not.

They just need a spark from somewhere to ignite them, it was never going to be Bournemouth because that was just taking candy from a baby.

Wolves could suffer a similar punishment on Saturday - if they don't win that match then more questions will be asked but in football you're never more than a couple of wins away from everything being wonderful again.

I don't know who does their defensive coaching but that's one area I'd maybe look at if I was involved with them as VvD doesn't look the same player he once was and positionally they're getting caught out, not just the full backs (although they are the worst for it) but right across the line.

I hope they will collapse because they see City accelerating ahead. Mentally they might find it difficult to motivate themselves since they will most likely find it hard to believe they will need to fight for top 4 place.

Last season for them had to hurt.

I know they won two trophies but to be so close to sporting immortality, first English side to win the Quadruple, and then fail right at the end has to have an effect.

The off season cycle thing is very interesting too.

Liverpool were fooled into thinking diaz was a good replacement for mane but the reality is diaz had your stereotypical honeymoon period last season and that is now over.

I Don't think Liverpool are in massive danger and the current doom and gloom is a bit over blown, even united had bad periods and heavy losses under fergie

Diaz looks pretty good doesn't he? He's the only one playing well I think.

It's Nunez who looks a total donkey.

 The problem this season most certainly has not been Diaz.

I wouldn't be suprised if they dont win more than one game in the next 5. After Wolves I would say they are very nasty fixtures:

Ajax - 100% win record so far w 13+ GD, impressive last night
Chelsea - new manager usually lifts a team
Arsenal - still looked dangerous against us and are good in attack. Martinelli will have a field day against Trent
City - nuff said

They were always massively over rated. Even at their peak. Remember The cheek of Carragher spending a Monday night football arguing with Roy Keane about who’s better, them or the Utd treble winners. So glad to see them struggling now.

Well, there's a difference between actual treble winners and kinda-got-close-to-winning-the-quadruple trophy winners.

I'm not sure I would agree with the word "trouble" to describe the state of Liverpool (nothing close to where we've been the last few seasons), but it's clear as day that they are out of the running for the PL trophy and can't even dream about the CL trophy. It's a rebuilding season for them and there's nothing wrong with that, but what I wonder is whether Klopp decides to call it a day at the end of the season and bring in Tuchel to rebuild the squad from the ground up.

They won't win the league I guess in answer to the question. That's still about as bad as it will get for them.

Disagree, I think they’re right in the mix now with the rest of the teams fighting for top 4. The level has really dropped this year outside of City and, so far, Arsenal. So you have an in form Arsenal, Chelsea, United, Spurs who are deathly boring but will be up there and Pool all going for 3 places.

I reckon United are the weakest team there currently but otherwise it’s a toss up.
