A huge contributing factor to the lack of goals is force feeding Ronaldo the ball in the box and him not even contesting for it most of the time. I don't know if he has the strength or quickness to maneuver himself around defenders for that little bit of extra space anymore.

It's annoying how much we try to force it to him in the box (Bruno especially) instead of just letting him play within the team and score the chances that fall to him. Ronaldo is a genius level striker in finding space, just let him do it instead of just hoofing it to him when he's not even making any sort of run.

Even his moment is no longer there. He's so easy to defend against.

Needs to be moved on asap. He'll have the odd game where everyone will say he's back but ultimately he's nowhere near good enough to be leading the line for United these days and massively stagnates our play.

Should have an assist with the Antony chance but was a pretty average performance. Nothing dreadful but you want/expect a bit more. Looks frustrated.

His legs are gone, if a ball isn't into his feet he can't keep up with it. The problem with hitting into his feet is his link up play is horrific.

Basically at this stage of his career he's a passenger.

He's surely more effective as an impact sub. I'd rather start Elanga and have Ronaldo come on in the 50/60th minute if/when needed. It would give the opposition something to worry about but more importantly it'd mean we wouldn't have to watch him struggle for an entire 90 minutes.

Need to get Depay on a free or Gapko in January and move Rashford to striker. Can't rely on him or Martial for the season.

Ask yourself how he's winning air duels in the middle but can't connect to a ball in the box. The crossing has been absolute shite. He has the most header goals in history and he maybe scored 3 here in a year plus.

A lot of those long balls we keep forcing into the box are because Ronaldo is on the pitch. It's garbage. Martial being made of glass is really hurting us.

How can he have dropped off this bad? Worse than Ronaldinho’s drop off.

Thought he was alright. Not a great game, not awful. Probably would have scored with some of the chances that fell to Marcus but hey, thats football. Bet on him to score this weekend. One thing that surprises me about him recently is that he’s not nearly as dominant in the air this year. Maybe he’s lost some of that absurd leap at 38.

He was very easy to handle by their defenders today. His killer instinct isn't there at all at the moment.

What I don't understand about his decline and how he's playing is that he seems to have very little stamina. Is this something you lose with age as well? He's so dedicated to keeping himself fit that I'd have thought he could run for days.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

He makes the right decisions mostly and if our players were more clinical he could have had an assist or two today and in previous games. For a 37 year old centre forward, I'd rate his all around play as minimal but with purpose and some quality. He doesn't have boundless energy but I think he uses it largely in the right places. For me, this would all overall rate as a 'decent' performance. The problem is that we cannot afford to have a player like this be our foremost option. Honestly if his name wasn't Ronaldo, I would think 'this is a good and experienced striker, who does the basics well and can be a goal threat if we feed him right'. A bit like Giroud.

Giroud can hold up the ball and is a far better link up player and aerial threat than the current Ronaldo.

Yeah it was a lazy example, which I knew even as I was writing it but I couldn't be bothered to use my brain anymore. Point being, is that he's performing relative to what tools he has but ultimately not good enough as the first option.

No I completely understand your point. The current Ronaldo is a very limited player. The reason you used Giroud is probably because it's hard to find a similar profile of player to Ronaldo that currently plays for a top team.
