If true, (and there is intention to sell), remember it will take at least 6 months, mainly because of the due diligence process.
So sit tight and be patient. #IKN

I think it went quite well, didn't it?
3 books that took me a month to read. That's how that turned out. Going to school bone tired because I had to find out what happened to Frodo and Sam or Pip and Merry. Those 4 scoundrels run me ragged they did.

This is a myth. Firstly as far as I know we have spent less than City. But much more importantly the money has been spent with a commercial agenda in mind and that's why the money exists. To put it another way there is a reason we paid Ronaldo half a million a week, and it wasn't football. If we want to compete with CIty we need the same kind of morally bankrupt plutocratic owners or some third option beside American sports franchise parasites.
And ultimately that's the biggest problem.

Football is utterly broken at all levels. I'd love United to start dominating again but doing that with "morally bankrupt plutocratic" owners would never sit easy with me.

I despise the Glazers like most but I hope we're all wary of jumping in bed with the first person that says they'll give us a good time.

Just assuming for the moment that this is true (big assumption) - where would Amazon stand from a broadcasting point of view?

There’d be a conflict for them as a broadcaster if they (or Bezos personally even) owned one of the teams in the league, surely?

Isn’t this what stopped Murdoch back in the day?
Yeah pretty much, though Amazon has a much smaller share of the rights, I would still think it would have an affect.
They would probably move MUTV to Amazon Prime

From the above article: "Those with digital expertise, such as Facebook and Amazon, are seen as credible suitors. However, sovereign states are also likely to be interested. Dubai is yet to follow Abu Dhabi (Manchester City), Qatar (Paris Saint-Germain) and Saudi Arabia (Newcastle United) and is viewed as a serious contender. Ownership of PSG is unlikely to be an obstacle for Qatar, currently hosting the World Cup, according to sources in Doha."
Imagine we manage to steal a prospective half decent Liverpool buyer and they end up with some Glazers-like owners.

RAWK would be a gold mine for years to come.

Dubai? Wouldnt that be the same family as city??
They are individuals backed by the state, a country or state cannot own a club, so in theory they could put up numerous individuals, unlikely that they would want to compete against themselves though

Qatar can do one but Dubai aren't so bad.

Wonder what Amazon prime benefits would be if they bought United.

And I would say that you are completely off the mark. The Bowlen family sold the franchise this summer, Bowlen wasn't directly involved since around 2010 and he has little to do with the last SuperBowl, Elway was the one in charge at the time. But anyway he was generally a good owner but not the best, that award likely goes to the Rooney family.
Pat Bowlen was the owner, his family had no involvement until after he stepped down, and really at that point their only involvement was whether or not any of the children were going to get the team. Elway was the GM, he was not the CEO.

Anyways, my apologies if you thought I was attacking you. Just my bias for my hometown team coming through possibly. I agree the Rooney’s are another model of what you would hope for in an owner. At least you didn’t say Kraft, or worse, Jerry fecking Jones!

Peace.

Could due diligence not have already commenced behind closed doors?

Amazon is interesting in fairness, they would likely see an incredible amount of untapped potential at the club.
Would be exciting if they had the same attitude to giving the best matchday experience to fans as they do to convenience for their customers.

Spending less than City isn't the same as not having spent enough to be competitive with City. We've spent more than enough to do the latter, had we been run in a more effective manner on the football side.

I don't even know what "spending for commercial benefit" means in this context. Everything is for commercial benefit. If you build the team into a team that wins trophies, that brings commercial benefit. From the owners' POV, that's why you want a successful team.

Norway has oil money and are generally a nice country and people. Maybe they could buy United. We'd take Ole back on too, as an assistant manager, or a mascot.
I was about to comment ‘as long as we don’t get Norwegian owners we will be alright’… :smirk:

Look at Wimbledon how it worked out for them.

No problem, I don't think that you were attacking me. I did find the mention of Kroenke as a good owner mildly offensive though. :D

The Glazers turned up and leveraged the clubs assets to take out a loan to buy the club, they are parasites in every sense of the word. Imagine me turning up to your house and telling you that it's now mine, and as a deposit on the mortgage I gave them your bank details. You haven't got a say in it, it's mine now. There's a reason why bogus deals like the Glazer one can no long happen in this country.

They have provided nothing of value yet taken millions out of the club. It's obscene. That people should be grateful that the club hasn't been asset stripped is a really low bar to set.
Excellently put, pidge.

As a fellow Scotsman, rooting for anyone in the WC?

Well Hotel football clearly shows United have been missing a trick when it comes to the matchday experience, no question.
I’ve always argued that a shopping centre of sorts and actual restaurants in the stadium zone would be hugely popular, not least because of what a cnut it is to get anywhere after the game. Staying around the stadium for an hour or two should be a genuine and attractive option for people.

Jets haven’t won their division since 2002 so not sure I would consider that not too long ago. The Broncos lost the best owner in football a couple years ago and are now owned by Waltons. I think that makes every CO sports team other than the Rockies bought with WalMart money.… and so far the only Championship we have enjoyed is with the Avs and that’s the team they don’t give a shit about, had to take them in order to get the Nuggets.

I just hope United get an owner with more the mentality of Bowlen and less Kronke… but that’s rare nowadays, sports teams seam to be thought of more an ATM machine than a passion.
In my defense I did say less like Kronke… :)

so we are clear, i feckING hate that nearly all my hometown teams are owned with WalMart money, I feckING hate Kronke and am not happy at all the Waltons bought a new toy either. Especially the Broncos. Crap, now I need a drink but it’s only 10am….

If Amazon are buying us I fully expect them to sign us by 1pm tomorrow with a one-click checkout.

Can’t wait for Old Trafford to be renamed Old Fulfilment Warehouse FC.

The Jim Radcliffe rogue Chelsea bid might have put him out of the race then, as it angered the brokers ? Especially as Glazers told him face to face they were not selling
