Big Ben Foster
Correctly predicted Portugal to win Euro 2016
I'm sure Qatar's players are al Sadd about their impending elimination
If he took the ball with him sure... But he left the ball and just moved to create contact. That's what decides it for me.Never get the argument of 'he's moving his body across the opponent so it cannot be a pen' thing
ive somehow ended up in a private party at Hilton Doha with the Croatian federation and the food and drink is paid forI hope you've got a couple of hundred quid to spend
He did it with no intention of playing the ball though. It's an unnatural motion with no other intent than to get a penalty. He is impeding the defender more than the defender is impending him. Not a hill I'm willing to die on, but this is some James Harden type shit that shouldn't be rewarded.Never get the argument of 'he's moving his body across the opponent so it cannot be a pen' thing
Protecting the ball when in control of it is not cheating. It's not about whether his intention is shooting, crossing or doing a rabona. He's the ball carrier so it's not a 50/50 but by putting his body between the ball and defender he's forcing the defender into making a decision. It's literally the same as dribbling diagonally in front of a chasing defender. Is that cheating too? Either the defender lets you play the ball or he takes you out. Yes, he knows what he's doing and knows that the tackle is coming, but the onus is on the defender to not go through his back once he does so.Tweet

He does, and drags his left leg. He’s got no intention of shooting. The Senegal defender is clumsy and it could be given, but for me it’s cheating.
It's simple, if an attacker is looking for a contact its not a pen.Never get the argument of 'he's moving his body across the opponent so it cannot be a pen' thing
Don't think South Africans have to worry about that anymore after this tournamentPeople always rag on SA for being the worst hosts, but they did beat France and got 4 points from that group.
I agree, Qatar should've had a pen.Protecting the ball when in control of it is not cheating. He's forcing the defender into making a decision. It's literally the same as dribbling diagonally in front of a chasing defender. Either the defender lets you play the ball or he takes you out. Yes, he knows the tackle is coming, but the onus is on the defender to not go through his back once he does so.
If a defender is shepherding the ball out of play, can you just run straight through him and knock him over and take the ball?
*this gameDon't think South Africans have to worry about that anymore after this tournament
Maybe if you can't tackle without putting an opponent in danger then you shouldn't be allowed to do that either. That’s fair enough but maybe we should accept that if a keeper can’t jump for a ball without putting an opponent in danger then maybe they should not be allowed to.
I wanna see if the Wales squad feels in such a celebratory mood as they did watching England at Euro 2016.
I'm sure Qatar's players are al Sadd about their impending elimination
Collapsing into the Senegal defender Jesus christ, he gets a 90kg defender knocking him in the back and taking out his right leg for good measure. But if you look at the situation as him "collapsing into the defender" then we're never going to agree. He had the option of a left-foot shot, but he opted to try and win a penalty instead. That is clear because he would have shot instead of lunging to the right and collapsing into the Senegal defender. It was silly of him not to take the shot on as his run and first touch put him into the perfect position.
If he took the ball with him sure... But he left the ball and just moved to create contact. That's what decides it for me.
Nonsense. He's entitled to protect the ball. Definite pen. It's simple, if an attacker is looking for a contact its not a pen.
They didn't bother coming back for the second half of the Ecuador game, so probably not. Will the Qatar fans be back for the 2nd half ?
This is not "looking for contact" though. This is just a case of having your body between the ball and opponent and is completely legal. If the defender then decides to tackle you anyway then that's the defender's problem. It's simple, if an attacker is looking for a contact its not a pen.
Not the ones in the good midfield seats apparently. Will the Qatar fans be back for the 2nd half ?
