We need a striker. It's not like he had a bad game, but he's not looking like the one we can depend on for this season.

Thought he was quite good. We play better football with him linking the pieces together

We need a striker bad, he has been a passenger the last two games.

The way he went down the tunnel didn't look good.

Lots of nonsense talked about his performance today. He was really good in the build up, just didn’t look sharp in front of goal. ETH says he’s still working his way back to full fitness. People will knee jerk and froth at the mouth as always, but I’m impressed by how much better he looks under ETH. The goals will come. A case in point was the headed chance he missed. He created that chance with his footwork and then a sensational ball out wide, only to miss the easiest part. But overall, remains a key player for us if we are going to get top four this season.

It’s just not coming together for him, but at least he’s working hard now. But we absolutely must bring in someone to strengthen the front line.

Martial's life cycle:

1. Comes back from injury, plays few very good games and scores some important goals
2. Goes quiet for few games but scores an odd goal or two so we are all convinced he'll start playing well
3. One or two games where he stops running or doing anything to remind us he is actually on the pitch
4. Gets injured again combined with breaking up with his girlfriend/contract renewal or something like that, while his fans convince us he is World Class and that we don't need new striker because there aren't many strikers in the world as he is

Rinse and repeat

He wasn’t poor. Don’t know where you guys come up with this stuff.

He's still at 80%. He'll be better for the upcoming games, because I there's been progress for each of the last games he's played.

He wasn't particularly bad but what a mistake this transfer was to begin with.

He was brilliant in 2019/20 season but after all injuries, even with all the support he'll get from ten Hag, I'm not sure he'll be able to get back to that level.

Wasnt bad, wasnt special. Just ok. He did walk off to the tunnel... guess he picked up a injury or there was a worry for an injury?

Even when he's meh he's still our best striker and we are better with him on the pitch than not, but yeah we definitely need someone to take over from him if we want to step up. Fine for this season, but in the summer.

The average Manchester United fan registers as much as a Golden Retriever watching football. Sadly, the dog can only bark while these people can formulate their emotions into speech and writing.

Too passive over the last 2 games - still links play well, but we need a lot more than that. We definitely need competition from that position.

Folks say he doesn't do well with competition, but I say the opposite as long as the competition is fair. When he's the only option, he gets complacent. Ighalo coming in caused him to go up a few levels and I think a better challenger for that number 9 spot will wake him up. If it doesn't, well, he can be stationary on the bench

I thought he was ok - when people talk about a squad player, Martial is the level of what our squad players should be: by no means a nailed-on starter, but someone who can play when needed. The problem with Martial is that he gets injured a lot and hasn't always responded well to competition for his spot.

Not good enough. Nearly conceded a goal on a counter because of his poor passing/touch.

Bournemouth’s most promising chances/sequences of possession came after he came off.

He should’ve done better with his header, but people are so set in their opinions that they have to downplay the rest of his game. Fact remains we are winning, and most of the time rather comfortably, with him in the team.

Dreadful attempt at a header when Casemiro put the ball right onto his forehead. Did he actually need the physio on because the ball hit his head a bit hard?!
I actually wondered what happened there; if perhaps he took an arm to the face, because I can't imagine the heading of the ball caused any pain. Shame too, as he actually started the play nicely with that ball sprayed out to Casemiro and then got himself into position to finish it. It's weird because for all his inconsistency in the past, the one thing I do remember him being is fairly clinical with his finishing. Now, I'd say he's more consistent in his all-round game, but woefully inconsistent in front of the net.

Thought he looked much better today than against Wolves. Was good in the build up and made some good moves off the ball to get on the end of chances. He'll get better as he gets more games in his legs.

I thought he was fine. That missed has defo played a part into evaluating his performance
He was ok but I can't see us building a title winning team with him as our no 9. I can't remember the last time he played really well over a longer time frame.

I assumed there was flailing elbow or clash of heads but replays didn’t show anything. Other than a really poor header. One of those ones where you close your eyes and let the ball hit you (when you’re 12 years old)

Didn't notice that he was back, don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Anyone who thinks we can manage without adding a striker in January needs to have his head checked.

Which says way more about the terrible alternatives than anything positive about him.
Oh 100%, but also the slight bonus point to him that he's at least a minor plus rather than being a negative to our team like that other guy.

If we can get some of those other guys like Sancho, Antony actually showing some confidence... I honestly think Rashford has changed loads and is capable of playing through the middle. Sancho showing his best could help so much in that regard that we wouldn't need to start Martial up top. As of now, it's Rashford and Garnacho as our only performing attackers.

Told you, these last few games he's started is as good as it gets with Martial now. Let's just hope he stays fit so he can grab an occasional goal

Terrible miss with the header, but played well - big improvement on last couple of games. Linked and passed really well, made a lot of good runs (which were often ignored unfortunately). A bit quiet but was largely very good in possession. 7/10.

Which is funny because he scored just two games ago...but I do agree that he could do with taking his chances a bit better.
And that goal was a goalkeeping error. How many other times has he even come close to scoring in those three games? I can’t even remember him working the keeper. And in two of those games we were utterly dominant. If your striker isn’t getting many shots off at goal in a match like tonight or against Forest then that’s a problem.
