Such a dislikeable player, no energy in his game and he completely lacks imagination now as well. Better than Weghorst, but both are bottom strikers in the league, need to get rid this summer.

Just couldn't be arsed to move. He really is rather pathetic at times. You can have no possible idea of whether he is going to bother showing up. I wonder if he gives the manager any indication with his attitude around the place because it must be infuriating.

So I take it nobody noticed the numerous runs he made that were ignored?
We never spot them. Happy to pass it around aimlessly most of the game when players like Kane always looks for a killer pass. We just have no killer instinct. See so many times when we have the hall in dangerous positions only to pass back. It’s mental to watch.

Seriously hope he is gone this summer.

Wish him luck with the injuries but please be gone. Had enough of the potential.

I saw Bruno ignore him as well. It's like we get sick of looking for the dangerous passes as the game goes on.

Need to get rid of him just to rid ourselves of the possibility of thinking "what if..." ever again.

He couldn't have played more disinterested if he tried.

He's a finished player. The injuries and niggles have made him lose all agility and he seems to perpetually lack match sharpness because he never plays.

He's a more skillful Weghorst at this point. I've lost count of the number of chances he misses out on because he's to slow to react or jogging behind the play.

So many casuals in this thread talking about him when we barley can get our play going and you go for the striker because of that. We lack technical players in this team who are not willing or can’t make the more risky passes or plain and simple selfish players when the pass is on. He misplaced one pass that was all he did wrong today do you expect him to do things like Rashford try go through two players or just shoot just for shooting sake to say he showed something he’s not that type of player. Play the ball first time to him when he call for it for once.

You are living in another world if you think Anthony Martial contributed anything to that performance.

It was shocking... doing nothing, inspiring nothing, just another load of nothing. Seven (or is it more???) seasons of this mediocre dross. I have had it with this player. Fred too. Both players just bring our standards and expectations down.

A disgraceful contribution from the both of them.

Yep, he is done as a footballer.

Not the worst player in red on the pitch but still an utterly forgettable performance. It’s weird to see him being so slow to release the ball around the box.

The criticisms about work rate is way over the top, did his fair share of closing down today, certainly more than what Bruno and Rashford did. The team as a whole simply stopped playing with any sort of urgency in the 2nd half bar that chance right after they scored their 1st.

According to some, it is always someone else's fault with Anthony Martial. Always. Or injuries. Or lack of games. Or bad luck. Or people don't 'see his runs..' or something.

Bruno and Ericksen play passes, great passes, they are excellent and v v progressive passers of the ball. Casimero too.

Martial is an average player, as I have previously said, Everton beckons. He has no character, none.

I don't think there is anything casual about an expectation that when he comes on a football pitch representing Man Utd he bothers to show some endeavour. A few half hearted "runs" and gesticulations does not make a United striker.

I'm not sure why you're casting yourself as the all seeing eye while any dissenting opinion on him is casual. It's nothing new. Martial has been here for many, many years. Too many. It's the same old story.

I’m at a complete loss what he does

Doesn’t score or assist, doesn’t move or get involved, doesn’t make himself available or help anyone

Simply useless

The one moment that made me laugh was when he was on the half way line, facing our own goal, trying to turn one way then another then got tackled so easily

Bruno plays great counter attacking passes long balls I agree but he’s not that good of a short passer and it’s not just that the ball carrying skills of our midfield is bad.

Eriksen plays good nice tidy passes and good long balls but he’s barley played with Martial.

Martial played well with a guy like Mata short quick passes one twos and move we won’t get that with these midfielders or these wingers because it’s always a touch to much or a touch to set up the next touch.

It’s funny though that people expect the striker to be doing the job of the midfield and wingers and then people complain about why he’s not central up top or when he is then it’s why isn’t he involved while the other team parks the bus.

He is either injured or can't be fecked with football.

The number of days when he isn't one of the above can be counted on one hand.

Sooner he's gone and people stop deluding themselves that he's the answer the better.

No, I don't think anyone expects him to do the job of a midfielder, you're setting up a straw man. It's him that seems to fancy himself as a midfielder because he does feck all within the remit of a striker on days like today. And too many other days over his years here.

What I expect is a bit more than dropping into a half space, holding off a defender and pinging it 8 yards in an aesthetically pleasing manner then being pleased with it for 10 minutes and doing nothing else. That's nice play, it's great hold up play but that isn't all there is to a game of football as a striker.

We could probably make a checklist of things he doesn't do, or rarely does, or doesn't do with any effectiveness or conviction - and usually a Man Utd striker would tick quite a few of the boxes. Running a channel, running in behind, getting off his heels and getting between the posts when the ball is wide and we need a presence, pressing an opponent out of possession. We could start small and ask he does one of them somewhat regularly.

Shocking stuff from Martial. His lethargy is now becoming legendary.

There are no known, reported or even rumored physical handicaps he's suffering from. Tony plays like a man who's in a state of mental shock, like just finding out his wife has been shagging the pool boy for years or that his brother got the entire fortune the father left behind. There is something seriously wrong with him and none of us can possibly have a clue what it is.
