A trade off for what? Our only other striker has been injured for god knows how long.
Rashford can play up front. Which he has done with Weghorst in the team. Numerous times. Most recently on Sunday. A lot of the time Bruno has been moved out of position to have Weghorst in his. You know, trade offs.

Really happy he got his goal. Played well overall I thought maybe should of got more than one.

Long term I don't think he is first 11 quality but he could be a useful backup/squad player. Always gives his all and you know what he will offer you.

This is a situation where all the FM experts would just fire up the in-game editor and put Harry Kane in their squad.

It reminds me of a time many moons ago when I had a save as United in Championship Manager (maybe 01/02). I was years into the game and utterly dominant, so out of boredom one day I picked up some striker from Alfreton Town (who was fairly old, I'm guessing in his 30's).

I would start him in dead rubbers or bring him on when I had won a game, and he probably only scored about 5 goals over the season I had him. They were all likely pointless goals, but let me tell you, I celebrated those goals. He knew he wasn't good enough, we all bloody knew it, but it was just a lovely story for the ages.

Very happy he scored. Thought it wouldn't come

And enjoyed how happy all other players were for him

I don't get the hate. Sure he's far from a top class striker, but he's such a hard-working selfless player, and he gives fecking everything he has for the team.

Loved watching him score. Well done.

Glad to see him score. Hopefully he kicks on and gets another 5 or 6 before the end of the season. Still not convinced he should be here next year but the guy gives everything he's got.

He can but he's most effective from the left.

He even scuffed his goal and it was on a plate.

Can't believe he's made a career out of being a striker.
Very likeable though

Largely terrible. Was pleased for him to get his goal but we will be so much better with a new striker in the summer.

I'd like to see him stay for next season as a utility fwd man, if the team plays better with him in the team then not a bad option to have.

He’s far from top class, he’s not class at all. But he does give his all and in the circumstances in January was a decent addition.

Where can I find the Weghorst appreciation thread? He's been here for 2 months. He's clearly not cut out for us. Furthermore, he's no youngster with some hidden talent that only the coach have seen. Still, I actually enjoy having him in our team. We're clearly a better team with him up top if you compare to CR7. And despite his limitations, he shows how important it will be for Ten Hags style to have a forward that will take his shift in high pressing.

We'll end up with some weird target this summer, based on their ability to lead the high line. Tammy Abraham, Jonathan David or Ben Yedder. You read it here first.

Why do you say this? Offers next to nothing in build up, no pace, not good in the air, poor movement but puts a shift in. Should not be enough to be here beyond the end of his loan.

I'll always have time for anyone who always give everything they have for the team. Even if they're shite.
This is Manchester United. Do you actually believe that’s all that’s required?

we should be aiming to win the PL and go far in the CL, would city have him as a squad option, let alone starting? That’s our competition.

I find this bizarre, he obviously has the ability to play football and he does a lot of good things, his finishing is questionable sure but his passing isn't bad, he works extremely hard.

Stick any fan worldwide out there and they couldn't do a damn thing.
Obviously is the expresion about him playing like a fan is not literal. But the point stands, he's several blocks below the required quality. No amount of effort can make up for that, at least not as a striker. He may run, press, fight every single ball but at the end of the day the striker job is to score and he simply doesnt. He waste so much clear chances is ridiculous.

His attitude is fantastic, compare it to that of Ronaldo. Delighted for him, we need a goal scoring number 9 next season but I think we should try and sign him on a longer contract. He’d be great off the bench or to allow a bit of rotation up front.

He is but I think there’s debate to be bad over whether the current set up is working better than it would without Weghorst. I definitely don’t think Bruno should be playing wide to accommodate Weghorst in that position and having Rashford up front anyway.

I’m pleased he scored but I still think it’s evident he’s so far below the rest of his team mates in terms of quality.

Christ on a bike, there’s some negative nellies in here.
Had a great game, involved in the goals, scores a goal, busts a gut.

Seems like a good lad, living the dream and loving every minute of it.

Delighted when he got his goal.

Imagine how depressed the poor bastards gonna be when he's back in preseason with Burnley?

He had a very solid game and was pretty involved opening space for others with his runs and passing (along with his pressing). True, he is slow and can't finish to save his life, but he is definitely contributing to our attack in other ways.
