He should have stayed on today as we lost our target upfront to hold it up. He works his arse off and that opens the door for others.

Having said that, the header......

Just not good enough. That header sums him up for me.

I actually like him. I love his work rate which doesn’t get appreciated by everyone.

However, it’s incredibly bizarre watching him run. He takes huge strides without moving from the same spot. It’s like watching a YouTube video of someone sprinting while putting the video on x0.25 speed.

I actually never see him successfully hold the ball up at the front. It's a huge misconception that a tall player equates to a good target man.

He’s a likeable chap and I’d love to see him bang the goals in and become an integral member of our squad. But he’s a fecking donkey. Literally one of the worst strikers I’ve seen in nearly 40 years of supporting this club.

And he complains to Rashford for not squaring the ball to him, while he is so far behind.

Thought taking him off was a mistake as opposed to taking off Sancho. We could have had him coming in deep and linking up with Bruno, for the latter to ping quick balls to Rashford down the left.

Agree. It was almost embarrassing.
That goal wasn’t about making it 4-1 it was a personal thing where he’s missed a few chances in the last few games and his relief at finally scoring. Nothing wrong with it as it obviously means a lot to him. We could do with a few more with his passion on the pitch.

Honestly it’s so impressive we win so many games with him as our no.9. He offers nothing

I know he's developed a sort of cult following with some Utd fans but fecking hell he's bad.

He can't seem to ever properly connect when he shoots, he's constantly scuffing it or not quite catching it right.

Surprised he played the entire match, given he's nailed to start in the FA cup as well.

To be fair it's a similar story in all his brief interactions with the ball.

For his size he's not a great target man or too good at holding the ball up.

He works hard so you can't fault his effort but I fear playing a striker who can't score will cost us at some point.

This is the point I’m at with him.

The novelty wore off weeks ago. I’m not going to slate our players but him starting week in week out is a travesty for a club with even our current aspirations.

Genuinely, his pressing is the only thing he brings to the team. Almost every other aspect feels way off even being lower premier league quality. I’m going through the table and would probably take strikers from about 16 of the teams.

Just as well he stays fit though. With Sancho and the Antony’s getting ill every few weeks, we’d be absolutely fecked.

Fine as long as we don't grow attached and make it permanent. Imo the real drawback isn't a lack of scoring but how he becomes a fraction of an already limited player when he has to operate in the final final third or receive the ball in contested spaces. In the box he also just isn't great at getting on the end of anything, even tap ins. Forget the misses, the positioning aspect has cost him more goals by virtue of never happening.

Very good squad player. Wouldn’t be against making it permanent as long as we bring in a first team starter in front of him.

This is centre-back (or feels like it) playing as a centre-forward.

He can’t shoot. Or if he can I’ve seen no evidence of it since he joined us. This isn’t a dry spell, this is Weghorst.
I mean, he can obviously shoot and he can obviously score. He’s scored plenty of goals in a different league, not a different sport.

Faded quickly today. He’s played a crazy amount of football in a short space of time. ETH seems to be determined to play him as much as humanly possible until our actual number 9 finally makes himself available for selection. Not that he has any choice at this point.

Feel like people are so desperate to act like they are true footy geniuses that they try and hype up WW. As if they see the true player and are smarter than rest of us. Dude can't score, can only make the basic pass generally, not good in air it seems for someone his size, and just kinda runs about. We need to make CF one of our top priorities and then I'd rather see a youth player get a chance to grow in versus seeing more or this guy

Dont want him even as a squad option. A striker that cant score is useless no matter how much work he does. He misses chance after chance after chance its like watching a bloopers compilation.

This chap should join in the summer and have a full pre-season with the team. It's clear as day he won't make fully desired impact by joining so late.

EtH should get him on typical striker finishing sessions to at least try getting more from him while the season lasts.

What happens if the main striker gets injured for 2-3 months? We’re stuck with a backup stepping in that cannot score goals.

Savage sums him up perfectly, he works hard for the team with little to no threat.

That said its starting to feel like his teammates aren't trying to find his runs now. Genuinely starting to see a hugely frustrated figure.

I think he knows his chances of a contract are slipping away.

Not good enough to be a Premier League striker. 2 goals in 28 Premier League games. No point trying to sugarcoat it.

He's what I expected, a loan signing from Burnley who was Loaned elsewhere.

I'm genuinely baffled by some of you suggesting he stays as a squad player. He's a striker who doesn't score goals, win duels or set up teammates. He works hard, yes, but that's simply not enough to qualitify you to play for a title challenger.

For a mid to top of the table squad, yes.

At no point should we be relying on him as our front man. If we make this permanent I assume any takeover is off the cards.

Do we really have no decent striker options in the youth team to call up, if weghorst is the bar this season then it wouldn't be hard to equal it at the very least

One slightly interesting thing is that he gets picked every single game ahead of every other possible player at the club who is fit and could be selected instead of him. He is giving ETH something he trusts nobody else to give him.

Works hard but his finishing can only be described as "absolute fecking dog shit". What has changed since 2020/2021?

ETH is just using a sledgehammer to get the point across about how much we need a striker.

You can't dislike him, but he's a hard watch.
