I think the red cards have got into his head and he’s not playing the way he usually would. Definitely an issue.

He has to play with more energy/dynamic player as he can't track back very well and had too much ground to cover when paired with Eriksen.

I can swear he would've looked 3 years younger beside Caicedo.

Looked a lot better when Fred came on to do some running and pressing. He keeps getting robbed of the ball just before he looks to play it the last few games. I don't know whether he's just too casual or no-one is shouting at him

It’s ironic that there was a lot of whinging about him not being rested for ages. Looking at it, it seems he needs to have that continuity of game after game to be able to play at his best. His poorest form this season has been after having time out the team.

Yeah, Case ‘grew into the game’ as the commentators have it. He seems to get on a roll after a few matches in which he’s finding his groove.

There’s no question we‘re a different team with him in the side but is he becoming a liability with all his cards. He makes Keane look like an angel. :D

Biggest problem is he fancies himself as deep lying playmaker as well and he does have a range of passing, we need Caciedo the audition was passed today, £80m cheaper than Rice, wages will be max £100-150 per week this is a no brainier deal, we sell Fred, DVB get £25m for those two pay the rest and his wages is half the other 2. Must be our second priority after a CFW

I was worried when he first signed and then looked outrageously good, but I’ve slipped back into worry with him.

We definitely need more options in CM which we already knew, just hope we buy well in summer.

Eriksen was no help to him today. He wasn't at the races at all. Fred coming on changed things for the midfield battle.

He’s been well below the standard he set in the first half of the season

The bookings are just ridiculous as well, he’s already missed a ton of games through suspension and he’s playing on a yellow card for 70 minutes again

We really need some new and younger CMs/DMs this summer. He is still a class player but I worry his decline would be pretty steep.

Similarly worrying about it. Matic gave us a really good season and then started the decline steeply. They are human beings and age by nature.

Looks like suspensions could interrupt his usual rhythm. Shouldn't be a bigger problem for a player like him.

Started pretty poorly but grew into the game especially once Fred came on.

Overall his passing was pretty bad but in the second half and ET he did pretty well defensively considering the yellow was hanging over him. Also scored the penalty. Not at his best but was ok in the end.

Its strange to say this about a 5 time CL winner but seems like his confidence has taken a bit of a knock after the sending offs. He is holding himself back and is not playing naturally. Even with the ball he is not in the groove and either takes too much time or just plays a hollywood ball. Earlier the season he was actually playing a lot of good short balls mixed with some adventurous passes. The balance is off. Hope he finds his rhythm and confidence back in the next games.
He is a world class player and I have no worries about him in the long term though.

Football is a team sport...the Seville game was still very fresh in the team's memory and DDG was clearly going long with most of his kicks.

That tactic will always make your midfield look worse as the defence/keeper were just giving the ball back to Brighton.

Casemiro is never going to look great in that setup. But he got through it and hopefully the team can regain a bit of confidence before the final.

Definitely grew into the game. That yellow made everyone nervous but he definitely got better after that period after the yellow.

He needed it. Someone mentioned it here before in terms of being similar to Rooney - needs to be played into form.

Hopefully today was the game he needed after that period of suspensions and the international break. Going to be a big month now with the end of the season looming, and with no Licha, Case has more responsibility. Expecting a big finish from him!

Tbf no other Spanish or Portuguese speaking midfielder would take a yellow for that foul especially that early in the game.
All season long we've been blaming the refs for our players lack of discipline. No wonder our players have no motivation to change their costly habits when they're absolved of all responsibility for their decisions. The tackle he made to pick up that yellow was just so unnecessary, yet again we've give the referee an opportunity that he wouldn't have if we'd just made better decisions.

Loads of people in the match day thread "but Brighton should have had a yellow"... Yeah, how exactly does that help Casemiro not being able to make a tackle for the rest of the match?

He's better with energy alongside him because physically he already looks to be declining. Can't cover large spaces himself.

He had me worried before HT but probably finished stronger than anyone.

He definitely needs legs around him, but moreso because he's become more adventurous than we saw from him at Madrid.

He's got one quality like one of his predecessors. Carrick was awfully slow at starting seasons or coming into form after a spell out, and it appears to apply to Casemiro too.

Said it before, will say it again.

His decline in form coincides with Fred dropping from the team, whatever is is, Fred makes casemiro better.

I think it's the energy Fred brings.

Him and Eriksen is not a good fit against quality opposition. We will need Fred or McTominay in the final.

Its quite obvious now that the Real Madrid setup was perfect for him. He's still been excellent for us but his midfield partner and how spread out we are as a team exposes some of his limitations.

At RM, he always gave the ball to the better ball passers to start attacks. While he's showcased that he has a better passing range than we all thought, giving him too much freedom with his passing just leads to errors.

If he's our DM we really need to rethink the players that play around him. Right now, too much is being asked of him.

Seen a clip of him volunteering to take the first penalty.

The guy is a leader and born winner but people here are worried about him?

He’s used to being in a team that dominate
the ball, so he only has a few fires to put out for Madrid or Brazil, when he played with a great CB duo of Varane and Martinez and a fully fit Eriksen and a tireless Bruno where we dominated the ball he was majestic. ETH is way to open when he plays the big teams and sets up 4-1-2-3 which goes into 3223 it means where teams like City, Arsenal and Liverpool use the width of the pitch and push their inverted full backs up and basically operate with 2224 they overload our defence in quick transitions especially when Maguire plays as the whole team know they are carrying someone who is not agile or quick enough to play top elite level football.
Watching Brighton today they seem to play a very similar way 2 CB push up high 2 CM Caciedo and Macalister then drop deep and create a box 4 where they want to push Full backs high up the pitch to create overload with Marsh and Mitamo then the 10 drops deep or the 9 drops deep to create a pentagon where Caciedo and Macalister have so many options, they very rarely pass the ball back to CBs. He had so much to deal with today as Ericsen was clearly not up to full fitness, we looked better with Fred and Sabitzer purely because they’ve both got legs.

Simple sign Macalister and Caciedo, they are both gettable and probably can be tied down to 4/5 year contracts for £120-150k per week. Yes Caciedo going to cost £75m and Macalister £60m but we can sell Fred £15m and DVB £15m plus if pereira goes to Chelsea we will get £5m on a sell on clause. That’s £40m towards the best business we can do for at least 5 years. We should buy E Ferguson and lend him back to Brighton for 12 months as a sweetener and maybe send A Dialo or Pellistri on loan as they will develop brilliantly at Brighton.

Honestly think he just loves Fred and gives more to the team when he’s next to Fred

He won't be cheaper than rice. Didn't they turn down 50 plus mil from arsenal and then sign him to an extension?

Not me. He’s brilliant.

He was a bit ragged today and hit the wall in the second half but seemed to get a second wind from somewhere. I think that’s him back in the groove now. Just need Eriksen to sharpen up and we’re back in business.

Pretty sure he’s on 50k per week with a gentleman’s agreement of £80m buy out clause

Not worried would just like a player like Caciedo bought to play alongside him or Macalister both passed their auditions today.

Last time I saw him in a final was against Liverpool and he was awesome in that game so hopefully he can do it for us as there will be no doubt we will need him at his best to get anything out of this City side.
