The gaming community is a curious one. They mountains out of molehills and declare any game unplayable after staring intently at a pixel under a microscope for hours on end. I can't tell you how often I've been on here, and in forums, and read scores of people venting their criticism of whatever game breaking bug is present, only to play the same game and experience little to no issues at all.

Mind you, I play on a optimised console and not a PC, so there is that, but I do get the impression that the gaming community in general just exaggerates every little thing to a ridiculous degree.
Tbf a lot of PC ports are absolutely fecked.

The first took a long time to get going but by the time you get the key skills and lightsaber upgrades it was a better game. So based on the reviews I bought it this morning. Let’s see!

Getting great reviews. Hopefully not the usual Stars Wars overhyping going on.

Insisting games are unplayable in 30 fps is my favourite. Who gives a feck.

I still want to get this one day, but there's no way I'm avoiding any spoilers until that day. It's already plastered all over my homepage whenever I go on YouTube. I keep clicking the three dots to stop recommending me them but more just pop up like whac-a-mole

Well thankfully the world doesn’t have that attitude so we can move away from the horror that is a 30fps game in 2023.

I really did not like the first game - found it very repetitive and boring and basically a tomb raider clone but with a star wars skin. This looks like more of the same so I'll give it a miss.

I quite enjoyed the first one, even though I felt the story to be quite formulaic and the choppy framerate became a major bugbear whenever certain periods of the game got busy ( The AT-AT sequence was conceptionally brilliantly but the choppy framerate made me loath that scene when re-playing it).

I'm not sure If I'll go near this anytime soon. One, its pricey and two, I dont really have the time (so, I'll probably just binge a walkthrough on YT).

It shares some elements with the modern Tomb Raider games (as do so many other games), but to call it basically a clone is absurd. It's nothing of the sort.

Yes we are now blessed with super smooth 800 fps interactive movies with gameplay so easy my 6 month old baby can beat them :(

Good gameplay and reasonable fps aren't mutually exclusive. A challenge does not require a slideshow.

30fps is hardly a slide show though. Of course more fps is better, but no one can overreact quite like gamers.

Lots of running about, climbing about mixed with kinda rubbish combat and some puzzles. Sounds like a tomb raider clone to me.

Really because I reckon you guys are in the minority. You're loud though I'll give you that. Like the gammons.
Ah so the developers have started going to 60fps on chance, got it nothing to do with it makes the whole game a better experience.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

60fps is better than 30fps, it's not even a discussion. Imagine only having 30 beers every night and thinking that it's just as fun as having 60 beers. It's just plain not. 60 is better.

Are you honestly trying to argue that 30 fps doesn't matter and that saying 60 fps should be standard is somehow ridiculous? Are we in 2004?

Given it a while but seeing as I'm away next week and have company for the weekend, I'm just going wait for a patch or 2.

It's pretty bad technically. It's not even the frame rate but you can't move the camera without screen tearing. I don't remember a game this bad for it - people moaned about Cyberpunk but I think this is comfortably worse.

Pressure from marketing no doubt. I'm sure real developers know what's most important about a game is how enjoyable and fun it is regardless of any technical limitations. Like Nintendo do.

Do you think when you were born that your parents already knew they wanted to throw you away but couldn't because of the rules of modern society?

Once you get used to 60, 30 feels archaic.

I was fine with 30 till I had a PS4. Now I’m above that shit.
I have all the playstations and a rather high end PC (it was high end 2 years ago, so it's probably an old timer now actually). I recently replayed Elden Ring on PS5 after playing it extensively on PS4 and I obviously notice the difference, but I just really realllllly don't care.
