Why would anyone want United to cheat when it doesn’t need to?
United is already cheating like Chelsea now too when you have huge wage bills and yes I know city don’t declare a true wage bill, because what they do goes beyond cheating, they are the kid that plays in the street and makes up his own rules as he goes along, like I score a goal it’s worth 2 and you score it’s only worth 1 but on a serious not those united players like Martial, Sancho, Antony and many others are taking millions of pounds each week from the club to put in 1 decent performance followed by 2 or 3 pathetic ones, that’s cheating the club, the fans bit worst of all themselves !
That culture has now been at the club for over a decade, the ED Woodward era and even with money which we’ve had you don’t just snap out of it unless you have a Dragon roaring flames at the very top who demands blood and sacrifice every minute of every day, we’ll Qatar will be that dragon but at what detriment, SJR will be more like a dithering absent minded Merlin, hoping that one of his spells can vanquish the Abu Dhabi and Saudi Dragons!

The question is how many fans want to ride the Big Red Qatar dragon and fight fire with fire!

You’ve lived and worked there?
Its well documented, fyi for westerners it's fine, it's the ones from impoverished nations that are exploited. The ones who work in construction for example.

I worked in Dubai for years and for me it was great, but you know the migrant workers don't have it easy at all, you don't see it because you're kept separate from them. They get a white bus that drives all of them to the construction sites in their uniforms they're usually all asleep because they work long hours and they work at unsociable hours to beat the desert heat, in Qatar they used to take shipping containers to the sites themselves and they lived there for the duration of construction.

I think things have improved marginally though, but for westerners who work there it's better than back home, pays fantastic, work life balance is great, tax free, no problem.

But you don't see the problems, you don't get to walk into the construction sites and speak to the 27 year old Bangladeshi construction worker who hasn't been home for 6 years and his entire life is going to work on a bus with little sleep every day in poor conditions.

People accuse Qatar of "Sports Washing" like it's fact and not just their opinion. They are not "washing" anything, they are expanding their global brand in the hopes of bringing in more business, tourism etc.

People should worry more about their Adidas kit made in Asian sweat shops or their iPhone made in Chinese factories where suicide nets are installed to stop over worked staff ending their lives before pointing the finger at working standards in Qatar. The country has even launched recent initiatives to improve welfare standards and unfair working conditions. That's a lot more than some of the so called acceptable owners would do at their international factories.

In regards to LGBT rights, what gives us the right to dictate what is acceptable in another country when we ourselves are having huge issues with trans athletes in women's sports after years of being told they are women and no one can question this? Do we just make the rules up as we go and everyone else is expected to keep changing their believes to suit us? Nobody is forcing anyone to go and live in Qatar.

The Qataris have been very respectful of the rules and beliefs of the countries they have investments in. PSG recently took part in an LGBT initiative with their kits displaying rainbow digits.

If anyone is intolerant, I'd argue it's the people who have tarnished the Qataris names without even thinking this through.
100 percent correct and accurate post.

I disagree. United's issue was stagnation and it started long before the Glazers bought us. One can say that its the reason why the Glazers were able to buy us in the first place. Take for example sponsors. Did we need Woodward to really tap into that market? Wasn't Gill able to do so himself? That would have increased the value of the club making it difficult if not impossible for the Glazers to engage in a hostile takeover. Then there was other development that was happening in football that we refuse to engage in like Director of football and data analysts. Sure SAF could paper the cracks but the man was ancient. It was a matter of when the guy retires not if. Meanwhile the youth academy wasn't producing the goods as it used to do, we became less effective in signing rough diamonds opting instead on proven EPL players instead despite knowing that they weren't any where near to the players they were replacing, we became sentimental in terms of decision making and it was clear that our fitness regime wasn't among the best

Rome isn't built in one day but it didn't fell in one day either. We started 2013-2014 season with a new CEO, a new manager (who was the shittiest one could find btw), an ageing squad, no DOF and Fellaini as our only summer signing. Meanwhile we had Thiago Alcantara wrapped up but no one bothered to tell the new manager to have a look at him and give his go ahead which meant that he would veto the deal and months of work tied with it. That clusferfeck didn't come out by accident. It was a result of shit planning and standards which were allowed to slip.
Can’t really disagree or agree. Although as a PLC we spent 100s of millions building Carrington, developing OT from 45000 to 75000 stadium in 10 or so years.

Before the glazers came we were the biggest earning club in the world. Then dropped in the seasons after they took over and only reclaimed top spot in 2013. You probably have a point the drop was due to our marketing becoming stale regardless of the Glazers takeover.

I would prefer United were not owned by the state of Qatar. United don’t necessarily need the money if the debt burden is cleared and some investment is made in infrastructure.

However I would take Qatar over the Glazers if that was the option. The Glazers are stealing from the club and have been for years.

As for Qatar vs SJR, that all comes down to for me personally whether the Glazers would be staying on and weather or not the investment to clear debt and renew infrastructure will be made. I’ll be content with either of them winning

I would actually prefer if another viable bidder was in the mix because there are concerns with both bidders.

Wasn't it stated that the unknown will completely clear the debt from Manchester United? I'm not sure where this part is coming from. Is there some new update I haven't read?
They will still finance the purchase the club with debt and neither party said any new debt would be attached to the club.

I’m glad you feel so strongly. What you describe, the organised trafficking and work management of migrants to fulfil an essential role sounds familiar.

Below the hostel where the workers had to pay £57 out of their salary. Shared with 3-6 others. So… yeah. Your outrage, assuming it’s real, doesn’t have to be directed 1000s of miles away. You can make a change here.

What's the point in this endless back and forth? It's absolutely draining to read. Surely everyone knows by now that no one is going to give an inch. Pointless getting bent out of shape when no one really knows anything.

Just wait and see what happens and go from there.

Venting, really.

Probably shouldn't read it if it just drains you.

Not sure what good these posts moaning about it do? Had a lot of people thinking statements of their disinterest make for a worthwhile addition today. The thread is what it is, it's not meant to be something else, it's not capable of being something else. Go play in the other threads that are more suited to your tastes.

That's kinda the definition of sportswashing- raising their own tarnished brand's image through association with more well regarded brands.

Well that didn't happen when grandpa Glazer got dragged to money heaven. Who knows.
Because his sons are obsessed with free money. INEOS won't have the option to take a dividend but they will have the option to take money out of the club via 'management fees' of course. I'd like to think United fans have had enough of being milked at this point though and we'd force another sale if it appeared we were drifting back to this level of mediocracy.

I think the Mount bid (if true, which I think it probably is) is another indication that Ratcliffe will come in with the two Glazers remaining as minority shareholders.

Ratcliffe is a fan of Mount having watched him play a lot for Chelsea and places a premium on having high quality English players at an English club. It's a signing I couldn't see him object to. Ditto Harry Kane.

Force a sale ? you really think that the owners give a hoot. The supporters level of power to enact such a demand is minimal to zero.

I made my point pretty clear but let me spell it out for you once again , most of posters claiming to care so much about human rights and plight of Qatari people actually lack substance they are just Virtue signalling ,

Point about Iran is that there is country which is rife with Human Rights Violations and regular killing at behest of its Government and there is e thread on it on this very forum in General Section but it's just 10 pages long and hardly even active .

But going by how many posters are so concerned about Human rights Violations and Atrocities in Arab countries in this Thread in particular , I thought most of those posters would have been showing their anger and outrage in thread as well .

So my conclusion though it may be completely wrong is that Most are Just Virtue signallers or their concerns and anger are just confined United's ownership .
I will be brutally honest... I didn't even read that post you're referring to. I don't venture into that area of the forum.

But you've wasted all that time and effort to do what? I'm in total agreement with you about Iran. It's an appalling place and I wouldn't want anything to do with them.

Still not sure why you bring it up though as Iran aren't trying to buy Utd. If they were I'd want them even less than I do Qatar as they are definitely the worst of the two nations in my eyes. But they aren't so again what has that got to do with this.

As for virtue signaling comment.......not everyone on this forum is dead inside and morally bankrupt. I don't like what that part of the world stands for and their beliefs on women, gay people, workers rights to name but a few.

Just say I want Qatar because I want my club to be filthy rich and successful and cut out all the pathetic excuses to sugar coat it. Nobody is buying them anyway.

The owners that live in America can easily distance themselves from whatever is happening in Manchester but it's a different story when it's on your doorstep and you can't leave the house in peace. If your heart isn't in it then it would make sense to sell, INEOS don't need Manchester United to be successful unlike the Glazers also. This is their meal ticket, they won't be able to ride anything else out to this extent without having to be good at something.

You clearly didn’t understand me United are not cheating but the players that are on extortionate wages and do not put the effort in are cheating the club, we could get players on less wages with less ability but have a far better work ethic and mental strength needed to play for the club. Having a huge turnover and wage structure is because of SAF legacy of what he did for the football club, we have no divine right to be the best supported club in world football and two more decades of not wining a EPL or CL will create a decline in our new fan base.

I agree. I'm not surprised one bit though.

Most people who are pro Qatar don't really give a crap about what that country represents and how it treats people. They are thinking solely about the club and competing with City.

If we didn't have Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia already in the PL.....I don't think this Jassim / Qatar state bid would be anything like as popular as it is.
Yeah I will hold my hands up and admit IF we didn't have kind of ownership at City & Newcastle I wouldn't be so fearful of being left behind

Everything you say is true. The whole purpose of the thread is to just vent really though, nothing more.

The irony is, no matter what angle or viewpoint you take, every fan wants the same thing! A better United. We all love the club and just want what's best for it. That's one area we can all agree on although it often gets lost in all the noise.

Maybe we should focus on that for a bit, what we want out of it rather than who owns us and their politics.

For me I just want a healthy club, Old Trafford either rebuilt or done up properly and the manager supported at every transfer window. To be able to get the players he wants and not have to settle for 2nd best.

Were Man City a top European club? PSG? Were Chelsea winning the league before Roman came? Were Newcastle more likely to get relegated or get CL football in 23/24 if you asked anyone 2 years ago?

If Jim can’t improve Nice in what’s a relatively low spend league, then what hope does he have in the prem? Also if you do your research many in France viewed Nice as a very well run club.
Solid well made point, SJR is busy with his other business and at 70 how can he be the hands on Owner that united need, all these clubs like Chelsea that had money, they also had an owner that wouldn’t accept failure, their owners are win at all costs, SJR is clearly not looking at how he’s run Nice!

Why all of a sudden does he now want to compete with Qatar when he’s had 4 or 5 seasons with Nice to take them on and clearly doesn’t have the desire or application to win at all costs with Nice.

This will be the biggest alarm to United Fans

All of a sudden, we're being linked with everybody in the transfer market... Get the feeling something has changed, or even the Journos are getting bored of the current situation.

As said I prefer the unknown who is seriously willing to invest into the club then the proven failure who will bring in more debt and will keep the Glazers in
Maybe it's the whole unknown feel of the Jassim bid that's putting off the Raine Group

I get that.

Personally if you take political issues out of the equation for a second then I also think Qatar would probably be better for us as a club too. However it's very hard for me to overlook all that stuff and what it would mean going forwards.

If Qatar didn't have all the bad stuff associated with them then 100% of the fanbase would be with them. It wouldn't even be a contest.

Based on the reports so far,I see the Sheikh's bid as the preferred one. I believe this is the reason they were allowed to negotiate with the Glazers directly.

It will be a full takeover.

I don't think this is really true. They'd have less opposition, definitely, but there are strong objections to the idea of ploughing PSG like amounts of money in as well, regardless of where it comes from.

I thought there might have been more concrete interest from an American bidder like Ballmer but it never materialised

Sounds very grim but replicates the lives of many hundreds and millions of people around the world.

It also demonstrates the hypocrisy of the West. People will happily work and enjoy their work and lives there. Millions go to Dubai on holiday and face no criticism. However when it comes to Dubai or a neighbour wishing to buy a football club all hell breaks loose.

Where do people draw the line?

I appreciate the explanation of gravity probably once received similar questions.
you will. You're describing the acceleration due to gravity is cause of the Earth constantly accelerating up at a rate of 9.8 meters per second squared being pushed by a Universal Accelarator.

That's fair enough just to add that even though I am not anti or pro Any buyer for United what I am quite certain of is that United is actually one of few Clubs who are fully capable of success on its own due to it's rich history and revenues as long as we get Competent owners , because at the end of the Day no matter how rich you are there only 11 players who take the field at given point in time .

So I am fairly ok with who ever ends owning United including Glazers if they can somehow manage to become competent and run United efficiently .

As for my rant my apologies I just sometimes feel every one in world has become so polarized and entrenched in their views that every thing becomes a points scoring contest rather than leading to nuanced discussion and debate to build better understanding where each one is coming from .

Just to add I actually agree with most of points you have made about Qatar but What I feel is We need to give them space and time to evolve on their own pace hope fully changes would come there for better in due course of time as well .

I didn't think it was possible but we've finally created a thread that surpasses the Messi-Ronaldo clusterfeck in terms of endless, repetitive circular arguments covering the same points again and again and again and again. Well done all. You're playing a blinder.
Well said. I log in to check this thread and it's the same tedious discussion every single hour of every single day.

I'm surprised that they aren't boring themselves by now.

Take this with a pinch of salt and shit all over my post if you wish as it may be complete bollocks…there’s a guy on tiktok who’s been doing videos in the last couple of weeks on the sale. He claims to have a contact who’s very closely involved in the takeover.

Anyway, long story short he’s made a few ITK claims recently, in particular the fact Sheikh Jassim was going to put a 4th bid in. He reported it was happening a day or so before any news broke which is where people have started giving him credibility.

Anywayyy, the same guy is claiming the deal with Sheikh Jassim is done and the Glazers have even gone as far as asking the Sheikh if they can use some of his investment money to put towards transfers right now.

He’s not revealed who his contact is til now but has said today it’s someone on the Qatar side. Anyway, interested to see if it’s true or complete bollocks. He claims that’s what’s going to be revealed this week.
