I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster

This place looks unreal. So many long irons and the par 3’s are really short par 4’s.

If Colin was hitting it well my money would be on him as his accuracy with long irons is nearly as good as most players wedges when he’s on.

Such an idyllic oasis inside a dank armpit of a city.

I know nothing on this course except for the architect also created Riviera. One can easily see the similarities.

e - And I’m wrong. It was the collab of two architects, one of whom is Thomas who did Riviera.

Another par 70 major course. That turns me on so. Plus a driveable par 4 & a wedge par 3, so definitive of that era of golf course architecture. Oak Hill had the same two style of holes.

Played a front 9 tonight some of the best golf I've ever played 5,6,4,4,6,4,7,8,7 the last 3 holes my game just fell to pieces, pulled my tee shot on the 7th and then I couldn't hit anything, golf is such a shite game isn't it

That's the thing about golf - as soon as you get your hopes up and consequently try too hard, you fail.

Honestly in my experience all my best rounds have come only after I've completely fecked up the first hole (or two, or three, or four)...

What I’m left wondering is this… where is the gallery going to stand?

In the dry riverbeds?

Yep, starting with a couple of birdies typically meant a bad score. Starting double, double typically signaled a good round was in the cards.

Long time since I played golf, but when I did a birdie was something I could only dream of

Keeping calm and consistent is the biggest thing, didn't help that the lads I was with kept saying how good i was playing got into my head a bit.

But some really good golf for my standard played just need to keep a cool head when things are going well

I’ve currently been going through a spell of rounds where I’ll bogey the first couple holes mostly due to getting used to the greens, run off a string of pars and an odd bogey, double bogey 9 (I truly just hate that hole and it is psychological at this point), bogey 10, run off another string of pars and an odd bogey, then bogey or double bogey 16, 17, and 18 to finish because I get tired and start hitting low hooks with my irons… and I mean, I’ll set up to hit fade and still hook the damn thing and I’ve almost never hooked a ball before in my life.

Sounds very familiar.

Now this course is the absolute shit. I've been fortunate enough to play a few top 25 GD ranked courses, but this one has eluded me. I'd actually come out of 'retirement' to tee it up here...

Gotta love how an upper echelon tour victory is backseat in mind today for Hovland. He comes across as quite a classy gent.

Puts him in a solid position to start his downswing.
Yep.

Doesn't matter the body shape, age, or gender, when one performs this drill, the club is in the proper position for them from which to initiate the downswing.

Played a couple of casual rounds where my playing companions would switch back & forth during the round, but it's pretty hardcore to do it during US Open sectional qualifiers!

I applaud the guy, honestly. Takes guts to risk looking silly on that stage!

I, without a doubt, would hit a ground ball to shortstop on the 1st tee in that event. And quite possibly the 2nd tee as well

jesus..... I think the ryder cup has something to do with this timely merger, it was in danger of being a non event.

People like Rory have a net worth of hundreds of millions. Those that actually got fecked are B grade players who turned down offers.
I actually think the B grade golfers that went to LIV are the most fecked, they didn't get huge sums to move, and now have to try and get back on tour after playing crazy golf for a year while other guys took their spots and built up points.

PGA Tour have basically just killed themselves right here.

Next sideshow tour which pops up, every golfer will now flock to because they know PGA are just lining their own pockets. Way to go idiots.

Also, the guys who signed crazy money contracts only got any of that crazy money from what they "won" while on LIV.

Don't know how their contracts will work with this merger.
