Of course I understand the reasoning to send Greenwood out on loan, but it all seems rather childish. There are known rapists that continued playing without having to take breaks. Greenwood is not the first player to have done something bad, but we really do not know what exactly happened, the kid is young and deserves a proper second chance in my opinion, without having to go on loan. Cantona? His kick. Rooney? The prostitute. Giggs? Unspeakable. Antony? Potentially hitting a woman. Why isn't he suspended? It does not make sense. This is such a ridiculous situation. He is a footballer, but a human being. Let him play!
Seriously, if we sign Hoijlund, who seems like a great prospect but nowhere near ready to start as the main striker for Manchester United and send Greenwood on loan to Atalanta, that just seems utterly ridiculous and childish to me. Before he was suspended, Greenwood was surely a better striker than Hojlund is now and Premier League-proven. Of course we'd actually absolutely need to break the bank for Kane or Osimhen and that seems difficult at the moment, but we need a striker that can get us 25+ goals next season already and not in two years. I feel like having a striker who will not reach that mark will make a huge difference to our season and it seems it would be a huge mistake not to spend a bit more to get that striker, don't you think?
