Can we wait until he does anything close to what Martial did in his first year for us? Let alone Rashford (who’s actually the best winger)
Have waited for 1 year+ now and Im convinced he is our best winger, specifically as a winger. Rashford is more like a CF that drifts outside than a winger. Thats why when Rashford plays on the left he is expected to score, not so much to help create chances. Garnacho on the other hand will always seek to beat his defender either with pace or trickery than focusing on scoring.

Really needs to learn to use his left foot more

He needs to some times go to the byline and cross it and not always take the ball to his right and have a shot like Marcus and Antony are doing
The little pass across to Mount that should have been a tap-in was left footed. I think he's already ahead of Rashford and Antony in this respect despite being younger.

This

He'll be a better player than Rashford.

Feels like a young Rooney vs young Ronaldo.

If only we could play Garnacho, Rashford and Hojlund together. That would be awesome.

He won't, not in the foreseeable future anyway (within next 8 years or so). Supposedly Madrid would still have Mbappe and Vinicius Junior by that time, 2 of the very best left wing forward in the world playing in the exact same position as Garnacho. Unless they are buying him as 3rd choice LWF, or if they somehow declined sharply forcing Madrid to look for replacement.

But normally speaking, by the time both Mbappe and Vinicius Junior is declining in 9 years later (say at age 32-33), Garnacho could be at his peak of power (age 28), its still possible.
I hope the Premier League gets even stronger by that time(de facto Super League) and that will convince him to just stay here. There is a reason why Florentino Perez is trying to find a solution to stop(limit) the relative growth of PL through the Super League. He wants to be able to attract players like Garnacho in the future, like they've always picked the best players in the world.

This boy gives me Cristiano vibes. He's a bit unpolished, decisions can be lacking, and his left foot needs work - but for a 19 year old his level of play, and fearlessness, is mighty impressive.

Just tell Garnacho that his role model started with playing on the right for us
It's less about what Garnacho prefers - I think he's fairly confident of 'cooking' whether from left or the right - more ETH's preference, maybe even to a (slight) fault, for right footed left wingers and left footed right wingers. In general, it works for him, but I'd like to see Garnacho given a few games on the right to challenge Antony and potentially set us up for the power trio (Rash, Hoj, Garnacho)...

Correct me if I’m wrong but his Ajax teams usually had a left footed left winger - Neres in 2018 and Tadic in 2020

How does he compare to Martinelli, quite similar players.
It's a good comparison, they both play with great intensity and are so direct.

What I like more about Garnacho is that he has his head up more and there's a bit more variation to his game with stepovers and more dribbling, he just now needs to compete in terms of output of goals and assists.

Looks like he's added a few inches in his height, and bulked up a little.

Hard not to go overboard with this guy. Has all the talent in the world.

He's getting his head up more and his decision making is becoming more refined. He's fantastic to watch, he's every bit a typical United winger.

love his directness and the ability to burst with the ball at his feet, which both Sancho and Antony can't do much

I'd say he's better, might be my United bias speaking however.
Only people on this forum would agree with your take, which says it all tbh. If you said you think he 'will' be better, then that is fair enough as an opinion. But he certainly is not better than Martinelli now.

Garnacho obviously has high potential, but I also remember Januzaj being wildly overrated on here too.

I was telling my mates about how Garner would make it last year. Turns out I'd just spelled Garna wrong.

Was Rooney 17 for that CL hat trick?

Can't remember a 16/17 year old as exciting as Rooney.
I think he was 18 IIRC. Yeah he was so so good. He was pretty much always a great player for us, but I wish he’d just kept being as explosive all the way through. Was too much of a team player.

Thats great, but again he’s not even had a double digit G/A season and you’re calling him the best winger of the past decade. It’s a bit much no matter how much talent the boy has

I was super excited about Januzaj but Garnacho is on a whole other level

Why? it's pretty clear that he is
Because he hasn’t done much besides some nice sub appearances and you lot are already saying shit like this?

It’s not “clear” at all. He might have the highest potential of them all (especially if he continues improving that creative side of his game I’d say he certainly does) but saying he’s “clearly the best” when we have one guy in his same position that banged in almost 30 last year and another who at Garnachos age scored 17 and assisted 9 is just bizarre.

Just give him some fecking time is all I’m saying

I'm completely guilty of being sour of him towards the end. But time and distance has helped again, Rooney really was a legend and it is just a crying shame he didn't have the longevity but we forget we was regularly playing Premier League football at 16

Dumb display. If it's not working, he should start playing it simply instead of rushing everything.

Very poor. He also seemed reluctant to take on the full back, which is 90% of what he brings to the party.

Really poor showing. He plays well there and he keeps the starting spot for a while.
