He does not realise that we are shit in possession. And then plays Bruno and Mount in front of Casemiro, who is not in top form. I mean if he doies not see how shit our midfield is and setup, there is no help. He struck gold with De Jong it seems.

A team trying to be elite in transition will only ever fight for top 4 if it is bang average in possession.

Why does he want to play this ping pong football so badly? It has no cohesion no sense of control and it’s too chaotic. Is this his style of play?

He is in for a long season if he thinks that midfield is good enough for premier league.
People will be shocked how our midfield is going to struggle this season.

Casemiro is getting on and playing Mount and Bruno with him can only make it worse.

Totally agree.

Our football is crap and needs to get better, simple as. It's not entirely Ten Hag's fault of course, Murtough needs to get off his arse and sign some players who can pass a football.
What? Murtough goes and buys who Ten Hag wants!

Did we have a pre season, the front players look like they met up in the car park.

Many fans wondered for weeks how ETH's midfield with Casemiro, Mount and Bruno could work.
I think it's going to take a couple of more matches either for this midfield to keep looking soft, disjointed, and generally shite,
and for ETH to change things,

or maybe us armchair fans will have a clearer idea as to how Mount gets into our side in a #6 or an #8 role.

Ten Hag needs to know when we need to dominate & hold possesion and to trigger counterattacks only when we lose it or the opposition attack.

Drop Bruno deeper to play as a playmaker that can hold the ball for us more than having both further up.

That’s what you get when a manager doesn’t care about keeping the ball at all. The way this midfield is set up tell me he doesn’t care about possession. Just hit the ball early to create a 1 on 1 or 2 on 1. That’s it.

We've had 61% possession. You need players who can create something or else you are just going to get LVG's team all over again where we could keep the ball but couldn't score a goal to save our lives. And, that was with Rooney, RVP, Falcao etc. Garnacho has been the biggest problem this half because we've been playing down the left more often than not.

That midfield 3 will see him sacked and it'll be his own fault.

I’m not here to criticise I love ETH but where is the style of play?

I woke up for the second half and I've got to say as someone who didn't watch any pre season we look absolutely dreadful right now, no cohesion and they all look like strangers. It's actually so annoying because all you'd hear about Ten Hag's Ajax were that they were good in possession and this team is anything but that.

I am disappointed in his inability to make us a cohesive team that's good in possession. Other managers have done it with less.

I’d be surprised if you aren’t thumped by someone again this season.

I mean, it's pretty obvious at this point that this is quite close to his style of football, we have been playing same football with many different players for some time now, and his signings, opening game of the season show that we will continue to do it this season too.

It's not as if he wants to see this kind of performance. He's obviously trying to train them to play better, just as every manager before him has tried. For whatever reason it looks like an impossible task to get United to consistently play great football. Why that is I have no idea

It's a bit shit then isn't it?

If this isn't an outlier performance for the season, we're in trouble.

We need to be much much better.

Another one of these lethargic performances. Play like this away and our results will be same as last.

ETH is still unable to build a solid midfield

Result was what was important tonight but that was absolutely shocking.

Can't believe how much we gave the ball away.
