You've got to be kidding me. We had two players on the verge of breaking into the team and both are injured long term at the start of the season.

What does first part of the season mean? Absolutely shit that two bright young talents who could have made a make at the start of the season are both out. Hoping both him and Mainoo aren’t out for longer than two months
Probably the first international break. Not the end of the world but not ideal either. I think he should still go out on loan because Greenwood is probably coming back, with the lack of movement on loaning or selling him.

When is that? I believe a month into the season. If so, not a bad situation to have two big talents coming back into the squad to add more depth 4-5 games in.

Correct, it's mid September. Not the end of the world.

Pereira turns into prime Scholes during preseason.
Diallo turns into Martial during preseason.

He had a shoulder injury last season didn’t he that stopped him getting a move to Feyernoord?

Wasnt that a year earlier? He went to Rangers after that injury right? A shame because Feyenoord would have been great for him.

Pereira used the pre season to look like a superstar while Amad uses it to pick up injuries. Very unfortunate. :(

Some knee issue?

I remember his knee buckling during a pre-season match when there was no one around and had to eventually go off.
And then in the following match was eventually injured and MIA since.

He posted a picture where he seems to have a scar from a knee surgery.

Wow I didn’t realise his injury for that serious - seems I missed that update. Given the Greenwood, Antony and Sancho situations, for us to lose Amad for so long, considering injuries in other positions, it’s the worst possible situation we could have had to start the season off. I suppose if Antony is dropped / suspended, we’ll just have Pellistri and Bruno for RW? Madness.

The feck, did he tear knee ligaments or his meniscus? Weird why we were so vague on it

We are vague about everything now - maybe to minimise the media doom and gloom? I don’t think we have specific timelines provided for Mainoo, Shaw, Malacia or Varane either?

Was looking forward so much to seeing him and Mainoo around the first team this year, I feel like both of them can contribute massively if not outperform the current first team players in their respective positions in the very near future.

These two injuries have soured the start of the season for me as much as the actual on-field performances, let alone whatever's happening with our defence. :(

The season barely started and we have like 7-8 players out of commission. Its like we are cursed.

It'd have to be Bruno week in week out as Pellistri has not really been trusted to do the job so far. We can play Mount out wide too and maybe convert Garnacho to right.

You don't get many opportunities and its often luck rather than merit so I hope he hasn't missed his chance.

Which is why I think the start to the season hasn't been a disaster. Bit of a disappointment but with all things considered its been okay.

Unlike most i'm actually still quite optimistic and am looking forward to after the break which is when the season truly starts. I reckon when we have a fully fit squad people will be pleasantly surprised with how good we potentially are.

Basically, you have summed up what life is all about.
 yeah can see that.

I always get the impression a lot on here think the outcome reflects the players natural potential and they get what they deserved. I don't buy that, players who have gone on to be great could easily have had their paths blocked. It's fine margins at the top.

Hannibal and Amad I see as big talents but bad luck and they could find themselves championship players who never recover mentally to achieve more. Leaving united nearly always ruins a player.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

So far when we have played both Rashford and Garnacho on the wings, it's Rashford that has moved out to the right. Which indicates ETH thinks Garnacho is even more limited to being on the left than Rashford is. :(

In saying that, it is a fairly small sample size as most of the time when they've both played it's been when Rashford has been upfront, which will (hopefully) not happen as much anymore.

Played 4 games and another possibly 60+ games to go. Plenty of reasons not to be knee-jerky.

Really feel for this guy. The worst possible timing for some of our young player’s injuries. He could have a few starts, including one away at Bayern under his belt by now. With the opposition we are due to face in the coming weeks, it would have been perfect for him to get football and get confidence. That said, there doesn’t appear to be an imminent return for either Sancho or Antony so it’s a case of all three of them racing themselves back into the reckoning.

Yeap. Happened twice now in two previous pre-seasons. I bet he is rushing his recovery process as we speak.

It’s really shit timing. It’s also such a long term injury he will need to fight to get back to his usual level of fitness let alone grab a spot in the team.
