Do you honestly think that the Glazers will get rid of their guy -- the guy who is responsible for bringing in the two record sponsorship deals; with as much institutional knowledge and network with the key commercial potential/partners globally?

And install a minority partner's guy as the head of the organisation that they still control?

Its asking them to give up control of not just the footballing side of the club --- but the actual side that matters to them the most. Commercial and financial. And replace all that with the people from a minority shareholder's people.

Arnold will stay. Or they will be flying blind.

The Glazers are cnuts but they aren't daft.
I honestly think Arnold was the leak and desperately wanted Qatar because he thought he would stay on under their ownership and now he’s either looking for another job or a comprehensive payout and 12 months gardening leave.

He clearly does clash with the Goblins unlike their previous stooge
ED Woodward ?

Toto has been talking about the takeover a lot recently. I would be surprised if he doesn't get involved at some point.
This makes total sense for Mercedes, they would love to have their name all over a new stadium and that almost becomes self financing, the bigger question is how the fans would feel if the stadium was to be renamed from ‘Old Trafford’ to the ‘Mercedes Arena’ ?

I'd be ok with if every fan was given a Mercedes

OT's old traditional design I suspect won't be in line with what Mercedes' brand would like to project. Look at the stadiums they have paid for the naming rights; they are all shiny, high-tech stadiums.

The Glazers will have Arnold as the man in charge of the most important thing -- money.

But when you control the money, you control the club
Why are you so determined to ignore the possibility that a club can run it's footballing operations separately from its commercial operations? Having separate internal divisions is absolutely normal for big corporations. The footballing side of the business just needs to agree an annual budget then they can make all their decisions without any involvement from whoever is looking after the commercial side of the business.

The Glazer's will cede control. They need Radcliffe to invest in order to raise the value of the club. It's an admission of incompetence and is pretty humiliating for them. He is essentially showing them how to run a business.

I don't believe this and the source seems unreliable as well. Ineos will be heavily occupied with United and Nice for the next few years, especially us.

By the way, this account isn't really a good aggregator as all they did was tweet heavy Qatari PR whilst abusing Ratcliffe and Ineos all the way until the former pulled out of the race. Would be better if they weren't posted in this thread.

Personally I would ban Tweets from all aggregators, many misrepresent the original source anyway

Direct links to original sources only

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sir-jim-ratcliffe-manutd-takeover-30402161

Bidding through his giant petrochemical company INEOS, who already boast multiple sporting enterprises - such as owning French club Nice and being the principal sponsor of F1 team Mercedes - Ratcliffe hopes to make key changes at Old Trafford should he win the race. However, he won't rename Old Trafford for the sake of extra revenue.

"I hadn't thought of that, but no," the Manchester-born billionaire, recently named as the UK's second richest person, is quoted as saying. "That would be heresy. I would not change it. It's always Old Trafford."

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Hes actually a city fan. Not that it matters anyway.
Is he? I know Mitchell has been referred to as a Utd fan on this forum before. A quick search online doesn't find much, just one MEN journalist last year saying he's a Utd fan while a random instagram fan page says a couple of weeks ago that he's a City fan.

Like you say though, it doesn't really matter.

Personally I’d be fine with it as long as it was officially something like “Mercedes Benz Old Trafford Stadium” and colloquially it’s referred to as Old Trafford still.

Yes I remember hearing it on one of the Athletic interviews or Ben Jacobs. Sadly can't remember where!

I find it quite amusing that Nick Train - manager of Lindsell Train the largest minority shareholder of Utd (20%) hasn't got a clue what's going on with the sale and only assumes that we're heading towards a solution. Yet, the media have been reporting that this is a done deal with announcement imminent.

Train told the FT that he could only "assume" that the deal was progressing "but who knows when or quite what shape it will take".

I'm convinced the British media are over-egging this deal and getting way ahead of themselves.

He also stated that he invested into Utd 6 years ago because he saw that the Glazer family were looking to dilute and sell so buying in at that time made 100% sense knowing that a sale would happen in the near future.
Wow. This is very interesting, if what he is saying is true.

Many assumed that INEOS would be splitting their 25% stake between The Glazer stock and that of minority shareholders. One would have assumed that the minority shareholders would have been in the loop.

Brands dont want that though.

They want their name only, so the stadium is referred to as The Emirates, The AMEX, The Etihad etc. This only really works with new stadiums.

They don't even need to go that far. Just replace the Os in Old Trafford with Mercedes logos.

Pretty sure the Madrid stadium has a corporate sponsor, and it’s still just referred to by its normal name.

I will say it after every loss: NOTHING changes until these are run out of town. Which isn’t happening anytime soon.

The club is fecked, like Pool were under Hicks & Gillette, until we get rid.

The only possible positives for this season are coming from this thread at this point. The matchday threads and player performance threads are filled with despair, sadness and anger.

You just know the 'sale' will be 'close' right about midway through the international break.

This whole club is a Ponzi scheme

Of course it will, and then there will be reports about whoever broke it jumped the gun and it won’t be done until 1st January 2024.

And then when 1st January 2024 comes, they’re still ironing out fine details and hoping to get in before January transfer window closes.

And then when 1st February 2024 comes, it will be done…

…with it coming into effect from 1st July 2024, and no INEOS hire can work until then

And then the white coats come and take you away as you’ve gone insane from following it all.

At what point do we decide to check out from all of this nonsense on the grounds of looking after one's mental health.

Very close. It's like watching Ferrari in F1. You just know it's bound to end badly, no matter how well it's going.

And I'm not a fan of those clowns.

Probably now I'd say.

To be honest I think I'm gonna, this club is a farce and I can't see it changing any time soon.

Peace out brother ✌

To be honest I feel like taking a break from other threads. Only thing that matters is the sale of the club.

Would be nice to take a break from watching us play as well. Not going to happen though.

This needs to happen to try and have some sort of plan for January. We can't go the whole season with the defence we have.

The games are on in the background as white noise for me.

It’s not just the bad defeats and bad performances that annoys me. It’s the knowledge that we all know the club is run like a fecking clown show, has been for years and literally no other club in the world is run like us, which filters down to non-existent football structures where in the past decade, it’s basically Woodward and whoever the feck the manager is at that time, down to players who know how to game the system by getting ridiculous contracts that they’d only get if they’re a star performer but get them for seemingly hanging in there. The club is horribly fecked in terms of general operations and they have never learned until INEOS supposedly come in and show them how it’s done.

Ratcliffe is supposedly pumping £250m into the club within his first month of being here, which is £250m more than the Tampa posse ever did in their almost 20 years here.

Agreed, I think quite a few are now starting to check out until ideally the club has a proper ownership model that puts football first.
