This is what I think too. Wenger coming out with his quotes, talkshite running segments, lots of articles in times etc.

We have got them rattled or just a effort to give Tottenham a upper hand ?
No one expected us to roll over Bilbao away the way we did, that plus the manner of victory vs Lyon. They know we're in a final and even in a season as terrible as this we're about to win a European trophy and get UCL.

Wenger's quotes are equally applicable to Spurs, so I don't see how that would give them the upper hand.

That was against Spurs too I’d say

I swear, if we have a clause of £60m on Bruno...

Without him we would have been relegated this season. Without him next season and with our signing track record we very well could be relegated for real.

Call me naive, but release clause or not, Bruno isn't interested in leaving us.

That said, no way is there a 60m release clause

There is no £60m clause in Bruno's contract. That info's incorrect from the Saudi media, but Al-Hilal are willing to test the waters with their high offer if they can come to an agreement with Bruno Fernandes.

It’s interesting to see the ones wanting Bruno out and Amorim out. it’s not so fashionable now to abuse Maguire or even Luke Shaw. That lot will starve without someone to blame. If things go wrong you can rely on them, at least. They will fill the post match like buzzards after carrion on a battlefield
Life's not fair if there's nobody else to blame

Bruno has been brilliant for us would really love him to be part of what Amorim is building never mind that he will be very difficult to replace.
I think we are two summers of top 4 but we will be a difficult team to get past next season and Bruno will be a major part of that I hope.

You think you're replacing a 37 g/a captain for 100m? Tell me, who are you buying?
You realize we should run the club on more than a 1 year time horizon right? A lot of the Caf seems to struggle with age curves and long term thinking. You'd understand my POV better if you understand that I'd sell nearly any 30/31 year old player for £100M unless it's Messi. It's nothing personal against Bruno. It's likely Bruno's finished as a top level player in the next 2-3 years, just based on typical aging decline.

Tranfrmarket isn't the gospel, but they've only got 12 players valued at over £100M (€120M) in the world. So more or less you could buy any player you want for that kind of money. Isak, Rice, Caicedo, Saliba, Odegaard, Pedri, Lautaro Martinez, Kvara, Leao, Barcola, Nico Williams, etc.

So would you rather have one of them for 5-8 years or Bruno as a top player for 1-2? For me it's the former, and not a super difficult one. I don't expect us to sell him and I'm fine with that because Bruno's amazing, but the right thing for the club long term is really to sell just about anyone in their 30s if they can get £100M for them.

Except it's not how it works, that's why we'd have a shot at 2 - 3 players from that selection.

He's invaluable to this team for next 3 years in terms of leadership, mentality, experience and creativity.

Of the players you mention, I’d argue that Saliba, Isak, Rice, Caicedo, Kvara and Pedri wouldn’t be available at £100m. That leaves Martinez, Leao, Odegard and Barcola. Would any of them be an upgrade and worth buying at £100m for the 2 years that Bruno will (most likely) be operating at his level?

If there was a 60m release clause, we wouldve heard it by now.. a lot of clubs woudlve been interested at that price.

It's not that transfermkt isn't gospel. It's more that their player valuations don't correlate to reality at all. I'm not even sure why they bother.

According to them, Bruno's only worth £47m.

There's also very few of the players in your list that United could get at any price. You're not being realistic.

Unless the scouting team have improved dramatically recently it could be the case just look at Zirkzee, Hojlund, Mount and possibly Dorgu (although jury is still out).
Why do the scouts keep getting the blame? They don’t buy them. Besides there has been significant changes in the scouting team

Surely the scouts recommend or warn against signings though? Or what’s the point in having them?
I’m not saying they’re solely to blame, maybe I should have just said “the hierarchy”.

Warning against signings is exactly what they've done, multiple times.

The decision makers almost always ignore their recommendations.

Yes they do and have, but have been famously ignored in the past. Many reports of scouts saying Antony was only a 25m player, saying Maguire wasn't worth the 60m Mou wanted to spend, recommending Caicedo, Enzo, etc. the list goes on.

What is the point of having them is a good question to ask those who were in charge before, it seems that they believed in listening too much to the manager and I can understand why you might trust Ten Hag knows more about how special Antony is than your scouts but the club should now have learned their lesson.

I stand corrected then, even though I am on the Caf every day and follow all the club news I didn’t know that they’d warned against signings only to be ignored. Let’s hope INEOS buck that trend.
Cheers lads.
