I was talking in € but indeed, it's 65m€ if I want to be more preciseAre you including wages in that 70m now?
But agreed, overall. Let’s hope he stays fit.

These are Mason Mount's Premier League stats/rankings from 2020-21 and 2021-22 with Chelsea. In 2021-22 he scored 11 goals and had 10 assists in the Prem. He has weaknesses, sure, but if he can find full fitness consistently again, he's proven that he can be a very good player. If I saw us linked to a player with those kind of stats I'd normally be very excited.
Now we just need to make sure he eats his vegetables..
It’s rare that we get to see a genius’s method.Stone cold Mason. Stonemason?
It’s rare that we get to see a genius’s method.
If he decides to pursue a career in sports psychology after he retires and then gets hired by the Polish national team, then he becomes Cole Palmer the Pole Calmer.
And this isn't even my proudest work. Behold!
Stay fit he's a key player, I think it might be that simple.
I think the backline has potential to develop into a strong part of the team. I think one more addition at CB would be ideal to help us progress as a team and create a strong foundation from the back where we can then have a clear and concise system of play. But imo it's about having a variety of weapons in those first two lines at CB and deeper midfield which will enable us to be alot more unpredictable in our build up phase, where the opposition cannot just pin down one or two players in the defensive line knowing there's a lack of vertical passing threat in deeper midfield.I agree. One of Bruno's strongest qualities is his ability to do the killer pass early. A lot of players are capable of passing but they need time either to adapt their body or to make the decision in their mind. Bruno does it quicker than anyone I've seen recently.
This is also his undoing when playing deeper when he pressed and/or surrounded. He often tries to dribble out of trouble which is fine to fail further up the pitch but absolutely detrimental when in our own half. Mainoo is the best, in my opinion, from our current midfielders, in receiving deep and having the physicality to shield the ball if needed, to dribble out of trouble when possible, to pass when an option is available, and to cut the lines with a through ball when the opposition allows it.
Ideally, we'd have someone like a Bentancur or Joao Gomes from Wolves as that first received/shield in front of the defensive line, BUT in Amorim's system, he has now tried using one of the CBs as the receiver, moving in front of his CB partners, and with the WBs providing wide options, looks like we are less dependent on the central progression options.
What's your view on that? Considering our better CB options (De Ligt, Yoro, Martinez, Maguire, Heaven), do you see this as a viable option?
Under Amorim, he's been trying to do a better job than under Ten Hag. There's a top quality footballer in there if he can stay injury free.If he fixes his disappearing act for 20 minutes at a time and stays fit, I truly believe he can be a good player for us. Sometimes I don't even hear his name in a game, and he has been on the pitch for half an hour. It's not an easy feat to manage that.
Much rather he scores a hat trick in the first half as we win 5-0 so there’s no stress at all.Buzzing for him to be honest. Hope he scores a worldie in the 97th minute winner to win you lot the Europa League.
For me signing a midfielder of the requisite attributes mentioned above is very important and if we manage to aslo sign a CB like Ousmane Diomande or the lad at Bournemouth, Dean Huijsen. Then I would really look forward to the new season.
Branthwaite is a good player but I feel the Bournemouth CB, Dean Huijsen has more strings to his bow. Obviously he's still very young but those added attributes he has makes him a more appealing player for me. He seems to have a very well rounded game and I think he's a player I'd personally take a chance on for the reported release clause, which is said to be about 50m.Not Branthwaite?
I've long despaired about this signing but he shut me up last night. Hope he builds on it

He was a weird signing at the time given the way we played and our need for a CM. Bizarrely the change of formation has made the signing far more astute, retrospectively. If he maintains his fitness, and that’s a big if, he really is suited to that position.
He wasn't a weird signing. At all. He was taking the place of McT and Fred who we sold for good money. A young hard worker with bags of experience who can score and assist. His fitness made all the naysayers look like they knew what they were on about. Nothing player, invisible etc. Pure muck. He's clearly been a quality player who since he came here can't get back to that because he's not been able to stay fit. If he stays fit not only is he a starter he's a leader and one of our more important players. Glad he's on a roll. Please don't get injured!
And Bayern, iirc.I agree on Huijsen, but I understand several clubs want him inc Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Of course it was if you factor in what we paid (add to that he was in his last year of his Chelsea contract) and what we needed and the formation the manager was playing at the time.He wasn't a weird signing. Ah that did smack of Federico didn’t it.
He was an utterly atrocious signing for the fee we paid and salary we handed out.He was a weird signing at the time given the way we played and our need for a CM. Ten hag wanted him to play as a dual 8 with Bruno alongside casemiro which was mental
He was also coming off the worst period of his career in terms of injuries and form. Not to mention he only had a year left on his contract
Ultimately we'd all still much rather see Amad, Cunha and Bruno fill those wide 10 positions than Mount. So he's still ultimately just a 55 million pound injury prone squad player, no matter which formation we play. I suspect Garnacho will be widely considered a better option when he learns to finish, which he has plenty of time to do given he's just 20.Don’t disagree with any of that. He never made sense in that formation or system. He makes much more sense now, if he can stay healthy.
For starters, Mctominay was still at the club for a year after Mount was signed. He wasn't a weird signing. At all. He was taking the place of McT and Fred who we sold for good money.
