We will never know if he'd have made a different decision had the transfer ban been lifted, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he simply used us for a new contract. Isn't the first player to do so, and won't be the last.

That's my view. No point getting someone who won't fit the way Mourinho wants to play, and no point getting someone similar to players we already have.
