Two headline articles on the BBC website. Two. One for her support of Trump and another from the political editor discussing six key points from her new book. As if her opinion on anything should carry any fecking weight whatsoever. She is the worst PM this country has had in modern times, and that is an impressive feat considering the competition.

To be sat across from the publisher of your book, that’s interviewing you to promote it, and thus, y’know? Drive sales of it.
Then fall apart under interrogations such as;

The woman was trusted to have strategic meetings with heads of state. But couldn’t even come up with a boring generic line like ‘I’m a big foodie - as much as I hate the term - and am going through an Italian phase at the moment. She'll do what she did during the Tory leadership election, go to all of these friendly interviews and they'll make her feel invincible. As soon as she's questioned by anyone with a brain, she'll fall apart which is why she doesn't subject herself to it. She's fecking deluded but helped by people along the way. In terms of election campaigning before locals, this is a gift for Labour to see her back on the scene.

Honestly don’t think Tory voters see anything in her. She’s a Tufton street pawn though and that’s A. Why she says half the stuff she says and B. Why the media are entertaining her.

Whenever the Tory's have been in power for long spells and there have been a few over the latter part of the 20th Century, their party's leadership start to disintegrate.
Many will head for the hills, some are bewildered and keep repeating promises which clearly will not get delivered and/or they can't understand why the 'party of natural government' (as they like to see themselves) is not able to pass muster with the public.
Against this background the more extreme politicians in the Party open up a fault line, (that is always there in the Tory philosophy) Liz Truss is the one who has struck the fault line head on and sees herself as the person who picks up the battle standard and goes again!
The Tory faithful tend to lap this up, which is why she got to be PM and now why the Party as a whole will have to wear sack-clothe and ashes, (hopefully for Labour) for many years to come or at least for around 3 terms.

I don't see how that's any different to what we're seeing with our political class, their electioneering, and the rhetoric, dogwhistling and gaslighting we're hearing on an almost daily basis now. The last couple of years alone have been the worst of the worst. Boris Johnson breaking every rule of lockdown, proroguing parliament, Truss and Kwarteng tanking the economy, and now we have the sick man of
(CCing @Sweet Square - the best curator on the net).

Yeah I get that… but I’m not even say lie. It’s a high probability that she has zero passions or interests and is just an empty vessel that receives good and bad stimuli neutrally. It’d explain a lot.
But just… anything. Her own publisher asking her ‘what do you like’ isn’t a political curve ball.
Just say ‘Out with a good friend, sharing a bottle of wine with a good friend’. Yeah the follow up might be ‘What wine’ but I think a former leader of the country should be able to manage it.

Yeah when I watched it I was expecting her to say going out for a nice meal, she's a middle aged woman and that's a perfectly acceptable response. She couldn't even form that sentence with any credibility. It was incredibly strange.

It can look that way, especially when you realise it isn't just in the UK where this hypernormalisation is at work.
We are seemingly entering a state of permanent flux in world affairs, especially in both Gaza and the Ukraine where in both wars no one can visualise an outcome that can hold... i.e. what happens the day after?
Closer to home, the exhaustion that many ordinary people feel in just trying everyday to keep their heads above water, is exacerbated by the growing perception that there is no quick fix, indeed there may not be any real difference for decades.
IMO Starmer is right to shy away from promising any quick fix, but with a government with a large majority at the next GE he has to offer hope and to have tangible programmes, (even if over 15 years) that support that hope and redouble it every five years.
The EU are going to deport Braverman and Farage to Rwanda.
She could have said, become Prime Minister.
