Here's how it all panned out
------------------------
We're on.
I've tricked 33 of RedCafe's most fighty posters to let me put them in a game of Europa Universalis 4, a grand strategy game that covers the world from 1444 to 1821, with all the trading, diplomacy and copious amounts of conquest that entails. We could have actually played a game of multiplayer, but that would only come down to skill. What I've done instead is created them all as countries. These are entirely new countries, replacing all the old, boring countries that existed in Europe in 1444 - such as France, Sweden, Scotland and the Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania.
The game is simple. I'm going to let the game play itself, and whether or not our Cafites succeed will come entirely down to the hapless AIs that control every country in this game. Will they make the right choice at the right time? Almost certainly not. Will we lose some countries almost immediately? Absolutely. If there are three countries next to each other, two of them will get together and eat the third (FAO: @Crackers, @Solius, @BD).
In this thread I will post regular (hehe) large updates, covering maybe every 50 years or so. Those will be linked in this post as well as in threadmarks. Along the way I will also try to post smaller and more frequent updates, for example if someone does something particularly brave or stupid. Those will just be a screenshot and a few words of sympathy or disgust. I'll try to tag people where relevant. There's a lot of you, so don't expect very personalized big updates like those novellas I used to write for the Football Manager Experiments. Some of the screenshots I post might be quite big so I might have to shrink them a bit for the thread. You should be able to just click on them to get the true size.
Just to explain the national ideas: the countries only start with the two at the top (called traditions), while they will unlock the rest over the course of the game.
This is Europe in 1444:
The participants and their capital cities.
Abizzz, adexkola, altodevil, AnotherLondonManc, BD
BootsyCollins, Crackers, Dan, Denis79, Dr. Dwayne
Eboue, Grib, hobbers, Igor Drefljak, KirkDuyt

Salt Bailly, Samid, Shakesey, SilentWitness
Solius, Stobzilla, Tiber, VeevaVee, Vidyoyo
