Fortunes can turn quickly in this game. Just a few years ago @Denis79 was a conquering powerhouse. Then he tried to rule @Tiber, which would rather be ruled by @hobbers. Not only did he lose a lot of provinces (all the green-striped were taken by hobbers), but he also lost his entire army in the process. Now he's being invaded by Hungary, but @Andycoleno9 also wants his cores back. And this time he brought a friend, the so-far sedentary @P-Nut. Unlikely P-Nut will get any land from the war, but at least it's some action.
Switzerland, in a more sausage-shaped version than we're used to.

We've lost our second player! @Grib seems to have been vanquished by @hobbers when I wasn't looking. Hobbers is becoming a bit of a problem for Europe.
He's dead but in theory he could still come back. His core provinces will stay for another 150 years, in which time he could be reborn either from being forcibly released by another country, or as the result of a rebellion.

A lot is happening right now! @PSV's ruler died, and we have a good old Succession War on our hands. They chose to be ruled by @Salt Bailly over @V.O. At least V.O. brought some friends this time, most notably @adexkola, while Salt Bailly brought @hobbers who brought their now subject (not a vassal, but in a Personal Union) @Tiber. It looks like an unfair struggle, but the numbers aren't that uneven. The V.O.-coalition brought some artillery, which might prove decisive. Or not.
It's very unlikely they're going to suffer the fate of Denis79 no matter what happens, since their territories don't even border each other. They could be forced to release some countries from their provinces, though, which wouldn't be great either.

Meanwhile, @Wing Attack Plan R is quietly busy conquering their way down both Africa and Arabia. Their conquests are largely low-value provinces so far, but if they keep stacking enough of those on top of each other they might eventually amount to something.

Bizarrely, this also means @Andycoleno9 is saving @Denis79, who was still in the process of being invaded by Hungary from the last disaster.
That escalated pretty quick.
@AnotherLondonManc is having a Tunisian problem - I guess taking nine foreign culture, foreign religion provinces at once might have been a bit risky after all. He's also parked his entire army in not-Tunisia. Bold strategy, let's see if it pays off for him.
Just popped back to Cagliari for some wine and limoncello. We'll be back soon. We didn't know Tunisia was a dry country.

Now this is interesting. It seems like the "ignore your own country and invade @hobbers" plan worked out. They forced him, and in the process @Tiber, out of the war, and now it's looking a lot brighter for the "What's a Poland" coalition of @V.O. and @adexkola. They're still technically losing, but most of that -16% is due to not having captured Warszawa yet, which is the main goal of the war. @Salt Bailly also has low war enthusiasm, so this could turn out any which way.
The numbers below the man with the gun (25%, 1%, etc) is war participation, so it's safe to say @adexkola is being a really good friend. They also have about 59k of the 81k losses you see to the left.
Edit: Ah, I was wondering where they managed to find so many men to die, but then I remembered that @adexkola is the Holy Roman Emperor, which gives them a nice boost in manpower (which you naturally use to reinforce armies that have taken losses). Salt Bailly has basically no reserves left, and adexkola still has 14k.

Okay the Succession War ended in a draw, meaning PSV does end up with the same ruler as Salt Bailly. But then I noticed something terrifying. Salt Bailly was already the same dynasty as hobbers. This is the dynasty mapmode (so not what hobbers owns... yet)

Institutions are sort of limits on what countries can do (and how easy it is to get better technology). They pop up in one suitable province and spread depending on other province factors (like how developed they are).
Yet another example of someone allying a minor country that they den have to defend against overwhelming odds. Salt Bailly has precisely 0 manpower too, so the armies they've got aren't going to get any bigger. If they know what's best for them, they'll let @Walrus have his spoils.
All quiet over in West Europe. All too busy getting pissed on wine and mead to do anything meaningful.
Year is 1500? Maybe time to show us maps with current situation? Lets see who is dying next

I think in itself it doesn't do anything, it just means you've got a leg up on everyone else when it comes to embracing the institution (which costs money depending on how many of your provinces have it). They also spread to neighbouring provinces.

Not done, just in a Personal Union under Salt Bailly. Your country is still your country, and you don't pay him anything. You do follow him in diplomacy though. There's a chance he could inherit your country, but you're probably too big for that. More likely at some point the union will break on its own, or you'll try to get out via war.
I'm going to take a break now, then a bit later do a bigger update, but I'll leave you with this.
