Think about it.
The vast majority of players who reach the top have had praise heaped upon them since they were fecking toddlers.
They've grown accustomed to it. They depend on it. Now, they fulfill their dream and suddenly they are told not to listen to what this much larger audience has to say. The compliments still hit home, but the criticism stings.
Are they mature enough to say no to social media? To the highs of potential praise?
What were you like when you were 23?
Aye, very well put, fully agree.
I can really relate, I've been hugely praised about a certain talent by friends, family, and colleagues throughout the years (much smaller scale, not gonna turn pro or anything like that but the phenomenon is the same).
While the praise is addictive you need larger and larger amounts of it to actually still feel it anew,
and critisisms are hurtful beyond belief :/
You'd think it also has to do with my and many others' type of personality (or whatever we'd like to call it) that relies more on external judegements than others...
Aaaand I'm writing all this as someone who admittedly with caution and a certain degree of patience,
has critisized Antony himself hehe
