Yeah, it sucks but it is the way of the world. Racism lurks deep within our bureaucracy and all our institutions and is really difficult to dislodge. But you have to be seen being "anti-racist" at all times without fail and that's what has done him I think.I agree with this but with a kind-of this is the way the world is skepticism.
To be honest, I think it's as much an intent at curbing racism as it is a PR mission for the FA who themselves haven't been shown in the best of light recently (the Greg Clarke resignation).
There is some personal bias though as I work for an organisation who were accused of racism for [reasons]. It wasn't really IMO. It was uncouth and stupid decision-making but since then the agenda has been to curb racism at all avenues where it might exist, even in cases where it doesn't.
Edit - But you're right, it is difficult and a precedence has been set so they have to follow. Cavani and the club would be wrong to lodge an appeal because it looks bad on all sides.
I read somewhere that a 3 game ban was the minimum punishment for this offense per the FA's code of conduct.I believe Bernardo Silva was being banned for only 1 match for an arguably 'worse' twitter post?
So what are your basis when saying it is "minimum punishment"?
I can see Mason through the middle for FA cup game, Martial for City and Cavani back for Liverpool.Leaves us a bit short that, granted Martial but not a lot else as presumably Ighalo will be gone and/or can’t be doing much in training.
Time for the young lad we nicked from City who’s all the rage to get a run out?
Really? You don't see the difference in attacking FA for what is cultural imperialism and sticking up for a racist? Guess I'll have to call Carragher and ask him for a shirt.Did you email Liverpool to see if they have any T Shirts?
Or a certain FrenchmanThanks, at least it's only one league game he's missing for

10 week ban though, put it into perspective. Rather a 3 match ban100 000 pounds? Are you kidding me? The match ban, all right, it's by the books. But 100 k?
Kevin Trippier got a 70k fine for much worse.
The financial implications were much worse. What Trippier did was akin to insider trading. The 10-week ban is the minimum. In Cavani's case, I don't recall any player being imposed a 100k fine in English football(in recent years).10 week ban though, put it into perspective. Rather a 3 match ban
What theyre also saying is English is the only language that matters. If it doesnt translate well, youre done.Astounding narrow minded. If anything it shows a complete disregard for the language, culture and way of speaking in another country.
Only example I can think of. Is if someone playing in the ME calls his friend “dog” on Twitter and the authorities their arrest him for insulting someone.
Yes, it can be an insult, but in some instances it’s a term of endearment.

He can’t. It’s FA rules and not some sort of human rights issue. All moot anyway, he’s accepted it with Grace and dignity. The FA are a bunch of miserable cnuts. I really hope there is some way Cavani can take them to court.
Good post. This is what happens when (I presume) people with limited intelligence who cannot speak a foreign language, have never lived in a foreign country, and who don't understand nuance are able to pass judgements in a kind of kangaroo court. They presume that their hyper-sensitive race awareness trumps all other forms of understanding relating to the Spanish language and Cavani's upbringing and culture.
I feel really sorry for Edinson who has really had his name tarnished and made to feel bad for something unnecessarily. He has apologized because he has been advised that it is in his best interests, I assume. However, he must know that he hasn't knowingly done anything wrong and behaved in a way that is perfectly acceptable in his own country.
This is damaging for him and puts him firmly in the wrong for no good reason. I hope that United are able to support him and show him the love that he needs to feel welcome at the club and in a country that will no doubt feel very strange to him right now.
As someone who speaks and understands Spanish and who has lived for a long time in South America I have total sympathy and understanding of what Edinson said. He has been wronged, but to some extent the governing bodies have painted themselves into a corner by constantly doubling down on race awareness. Having done that, it really leaves them with no option to be harsh on Cavani, even though they must surely be aware of the specific nuances in this case that clearly absolve Cavani of any wrongdoing.
Bit Rawk-ish.I can’t believe we’ve just accepted it. He should sue the FA for discrimination himself.
You can say he broke rules only if the word he said is explicitly banned, which I don't believe it is. He didn't refer to anyone by color or ethnicity which would be against the rules. So he is completely innocent , but the club knew they can only make it worse by fighting it, and rightly decided this is not a hill that deserves dying on.Bit Rawk-ish.
I think he clearly broke rules. Now the question is would the FA take the context while deciding or not. They decided not to.
I see, some people still don't get it. Just like the FA.In Uruguay, to drive on the right side of the street is perfectly acceptable...
Cavani broke the rules, but it wasn't his fault. The club should have teach him the rules he has to comply with in England.
He was speaking spanish therefore using your analogy the FA have fined him for driving on the right side in uruguay and not england. In Uruguay, to drive on the right side of the street is perfectly acceptable...

So you never take context into consideration?Bit Rawk-ish.

Suarez didn't call anyone 'negrito'. He initially claimed he used that term because it is by and large innocuous and has no negative context.Think the FA has no choice here.
I don't agree with the decision, but there needs to be a consistent standard set.
If Suarez is not allowed to call someone a Negrito, so shouldn't Cavani.
If this is allowed to slide, Suarez can sue the FA for wrongful suspension.
I had made a thread to clear this misunderstanding but still most are clueless.Suarez didn't call anyone 'negrito'. He initially claimed he used that term because it is by and large innocuous and has no negative context.
He later admitted he did not use 'negrito' and used the more offensive 'negro' to Evra, but thanks for signing up.
Indeed.I had made a thread to clear this misunderstanding but still most are clueless.
The media and scousers have managed to deceive everyone of the actual facts.
