That might make sense if owning the land was a hurdle to fracking but it isnt, as they just compulsory purchase order the land. Inner Manchester has never been proposed as a test site for obvious reasons.

Yep. They're not going to purchase United to frack Carrington or wherever. And yeah it's been banned since 2019. They've tried buying Chelsea and a large chunk of Barca, so it's nowt to do with wanting to dig holes.

If they choose not to sell at all then they really need to have a PR spin on it otherwise the fanbase would become toxic. Possibly bring some investment on board whilst they retain majority control or phase their exit over a number of years neither of which will placate most of the fanbase.

I feel like the Qatar bid is the only one that can be completed so long as it is on the table. Rejecting it in favour of SJR gets the Glazers sued to hell and back. And the Glazers must sell the club, whatever they might spin. So it's a waiting game for Qatar. But they could be waiting a year.
